I would really like to have a central location because we have two little ones and do not want to push strollers far and we hope to let them use the pool some. We also would like close to the CH to eat. I am not sure if I want a ground floor or not? What are your opinions? Is it easier to have a ground floor with kids? Thanks for all your help!

Sounds as if Tokelau would fit your bill then. If you have a stroller, I would prefer a ground floor, but that is my personal preference.

If you prefer to be closer to GCH and the volcano pool Niue and Samoa are great. Just remember, no second floor balconies in either.

I'm sure others will offer insights as well.

I agree with everything Tess already said, and just want to add a suggestion for Rarotonga, which IMO has the perfect location! It is literally just steps from the GCH, the 2 pools, and the bus stop. A LITTLE further from the TTC than Tokelau, and a LITTLE further from the boat dock than Samoa and Niue. Last time we stayed at the Poly we requested a central location, because we were traveling with seniors who have mobility issues. We were granted 1st floor room in Rarotonga and it couldn't have been more perfect! Your kids might get a kick out of the view from the monorail side of the building. (BTW, no 2nd floor balconies here, either.) If I had kids in strollers, I'd personally request "a first floor room, either in Rarotonga facing the monorail or Samoa facing the volcano pool." Another benefit of first floor, it will give you and DH a nice patio, which might be useful for you to have some nice time when you put the kids to bed or down for naps.

I recommend 3rd floor. You will have the best view over the islands in the middle of the lagoon. I would personally request 1st choice 3rd floor Tahiti, 2nd choice 3rd floor Tuvalu, and 3rd choice 2nd floor Tahiti. Tahiti has the larger rooms, double sinks, and balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floors. It has a beautiful quiet strip of beach right between the building and the lagoon. It is closest to the TTC, so furthest from the GCH, and some people really don't like the noise from the TTC ferry horns. Tuvalu is closer to the GCH, but it's kind of a hike to the TTC. There is no beach in front of it, it sits almost directly on the water. Tuvalu has no balconies on the 2nd floor.

Aotearoa also has TPV rooms, but this building is set far back from the lagoon, with a large lawn area and then the beach and then the lagoon between you and the castle. It is also relatively "far" from the TTC and does not have 2nd floor balconies. The views are still great, but IMO not AS great as the other 2 mentioned.

Some families really prefer 1st floor. I just enjoy the higher perspective, especially for TPV.

We LOVED our MK view in Tahiti 3rd floor. It is very private down over a whole week we only saw other guests briefly 3 times. Very close to TTC. I cannot say enough about the view at night down there!For tons of Photographs of all the lodges check out http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/

Just switched our reservation to the Polynesian!
We stayed here on our first trip to WDW and LOVED it!
I'm so excited & can't wait to go back! Only 9.5 looong months

We're traveling with a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids). When we were staying at WL we had a request in for connecting rooms. I'm not sure if that request transferred over when we switched our ressies to the Poly. Soooo, my question is, are there any connecting rooms at the Poly?

Also, our strong preference is to be central (probably Tokelau), third floor (we have GV rooms, but want a balcony and a view), and certainly wouldn't mind an upgrade for a better view. As long as we are next to or across from each other, the location and view is more important than connecting. Would you recommend doing online check in? Calling and providing my wish list? Just waiting until we get there and mentioning it to the CM at checkin?

I cannot speak for the rest of Poly but we had a MK view room in Tahiti that had a connecting room. Tahiti is not centraly located but very close to TTC, has very private beach, and the walk is wonderful but does take 3 minutes or so to GCH.My kids 4,7,10 loved watching the fireworks while they played on the beach which we had all to ourselves!

We had a connecting room in Tuvalu (also MK view).
We had added our requests to our reservation ahead of time. We used online check-in and really liked that everything was ready to go when we got there and we only had to wait a few minutes. We had requested third floor, Tahiti with connecting rooms. We got third floor, connecting, but in Tuvalu. Because we did the online check-in and our cards were already made we didn't really feel right about arguing that we weren't in Tahiti. As it turned out we were very happy with Tuvalu. I would list your requests in order of importance.

Last stay at the Poly, we requested "connecting rooms in a central location with a patio or balcony" (we were traveling with seniors with mobility issues). We made this request on our reservation with CRO and did not do anything else. We were granted 1st floor connecting rooms in Rarotonga (GV). This location was wonderful, and the view was fine. I would have preferred 3rd floor (for a better view) and may have asked to switch, but I thought the 1st floor might be easier for my in-laws, so we stayed put. When we checked in and were told our room numbers, I knew that they were 1st floor Rarotonga and was psyched! I just confirmed with the CM that they were connecting and she said "yes ma'am, as you requested."

I would definitely call CRO and provide a wish list. Maybe you could say something like, "in order of preference: Balcony, Tokelau, preferably connecting." Or list a few buildings you might like, "we'd like 3rd floor connecting rooms in either Tokelau, Samoa or Rarotonga, in that order of preference." Of course, you'd fill in your own order of preference, I'm just trying to give an example. I know how you feel, I get a little nervous about room assignment before my trips, too. I put in a pretty detailed request for my upcoming trip. I just have to keep reminding myself that I will be elated no matter what, I'll be at the Poly!

I think I'll go with 3rd floor connecting. That gives them some flexibility in assignments. I'd like to be closer to the TTC for our Epcot days, but hey, we're at the Poly and staying at a monorail resort. How bad can it be.

We have our first trip to the Poly in January!!! Woo Hoo!!! Anyway I was wondering if someone could give me advice about asking for an upgrade upon check in. I have never done that I would like to get a few tips. We are booked in a garden room. Do I ask for an upgrade or a free upgrade? Should I not check in online or does that not matter.
