I do want to say to everybody: don't stress about room location. I was really aprehensive about Fiji when we checked in, but once I unpacked and now that I've made the short walk to and from the GCH I'm really pleased with where we are. We are just a few steps away from the little marina and we're planning to go there with our daughter to watch the fireworks tonight.

does the POLY have a photo shoot opportunity?

Beside the Luau and Ohana Pix, Breezy told me on the Photopass photograher location thread that she has seen a Photopass Photographer just past the check in desk around 4-6pm. You can also call Photopass @ 407-934-4004 and have a private Photo shoot. Their website says 30 day advanced booking.

We loved all the great photopass pix from our trip last May. We're thinking of having private shoot since we have very few family photos.

I don't have a problem with others watching EWP or Wishes from the beach. If someone has come to the resort for a meal or the luau they have the right to wander the grounds and enjoy the ambience. However, I absolutely don't think you should use the pool if you aren't a guest. I don't understand why WDW hasn't done something about the pool hopping. A wrist band system would be easy to implement and would make a huge difference. Just make guests aware that if they are going to use the pool they will need to approach one of the CM's on deck with the keycard to acquire a wristband. I think TPTB choose not to do this because they don't want to impede on people's "magical" experience by having to play pool police. Unfortunately they forget that the pool hoppers are impeding on their paying guests' magical experience.

I totally agree with you about wristbands and checking key cards. Pool hoppers really bug me. I can see hopping at the All Stars or from POR to POFQ, but going halfway around WDW just to swim in another pool - that's nuts. Especially when the pool slide isn't even that great and the waters always cold. :upsidedow

I don't mind if people watch Wishes from the beach area though - ether are never that many people at one time that I've seen. It's not like a swarm of bush -peeing people wanders in all the time.

Joking - but seriously, since last April's trip, when we stay at WDW we always make at least one trip to see Wishes from the beach at Poly now. (Oldest DS will only watch from either the beach or the top of BLT.)

Thank you all for the validation!! I thought I was just cranky!

Bush pee-ing visitors aside, I don't mind the wishes watchers! However if I was visiting another resort, I would never make waves. It is just rude!

The pool is another story! Our beautiful poly pool is small and there are little Amount of tables to be enjoyed by the paying guests. I really think the people at the pool with their cooler of coors light and bologna sandwiches were locals!

Maybe the next time I go I will discreetly talk with CM about the issue.

This is the best thing to do whenever you have a concern. I highly encourage everyone to approach a CM or lifeguard for help.

I agree. We had problems with pool hoppers when we were at the Poly. They were stripping their kids and changing them out in public, and some of them were a bit too old for that...:rolleyes1 Really tacky, IMO.

I did speak to the lifeguards about smokers by the pools. There is a smoking section, but some people would rather sit where they prefer regardless of the rules. Since we're allergic to smoke and have asthma, it's a big deal to us...:sad2:

Will anyone else be at the Poly with their kiddos between Feb 21-28? I'd love to meet up with some dis'ers :cool1:

You know we'll be there! We're staying in Hawaii, and based on what I've been reading here, I think I will ask my TA about seeing if we can move to TPV.

And I suspect we'll be easy to spot. My hubby couldn't make this trip, so I'm taking one of the boys' friends instead. So, just look for the happy but somewhat frazzled middle-aged woman with three 11 year old boys, one of whom will be in his walker or wheelchair.

Anywhere else? I would love to add to my Photographer location thread:thumbsup2

There was also a photopass guy taking pics by the pool while we were there. I was thrilled with this because we got a great pic of us by the pool with the castle in the backround as the sun was starting to set. It is a fabulous pic! I will have to scan it and post it.

Is there a fee for the private photo session?

My favorite was the lovely lady sitting at a table by the pool that kept throwing her cigs on the ground when she was done with them :headache:

It is bad enough to be littering the ground with her garbage but to put people in danger of stepping on her still lit cigarette :rolleyes1

I really try to be oblivious to bad behavior from others when I am on my vacation, but this lady ticked me off. I did mention it to a Lifeguard and he spoke with her but she still sat there and smoked. I secretly wished she stepped on her own butt and burn her foot but sadly it never happend :sad2:

Anyone read a good Poly PTR or TP for May lately? If so, can you post a link for me? Thanks!:):)

That's awful. The people I complained about knew they were breaking the rules. We smelled the smoke and were having breathing problems long before we could find out where it was coming from. They were hiding them under the table and ducking behind shrubbery when puffing the things. The lifeguard went after them all the same.;) It really made me mad to know that they knew what they were doing wasn't allowed and that they didn't care who else they disturbed just as long as they were having a good time.:sad2:

I have to admit that some of these problems helped us to choose to stay at the GF on our next trip... We didn't have any problems with smoking or pool-hoppers while there. I think the lifeguards were much more vigilant, which they could be since the pool there had probably 20% of the guests out there compared to the Poly in the Spring.

Just today I booked a couple nights at the Polynesian late in February. It will just be our DS2 (27) and me but I'm so excited. We really need a Polynesian fix.:cloud9:

That is SUCH great news BCV23 :cool1: I know how you love the Poly :lovestruc You must be very excited

There's a nice smoking section there too! That's where all of the good lounge chairs are. The other one is near the pool as well, which kind of surprised me.

Too bad it didn't. I smoke, but I can't stand it when people just smoke wherever they feel like it. :sad1:

My favorite was there group of three who were riding ECV's down the paths at Poly while smoking.
