ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Uh oh, there is some Poly bashing going on! I had to defend our beloved resort on another thread.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=43653374&posted=1#post43653374

It happens occasionally. At least the haters aren't in here, that's happened before - fun times! (there was one particular poster who hated their stay and felt the need to be negative about pretty much everything that was posted by others).

WRT the bedbug thing - you really can't hold it against a particular resort. It can happen anywhere and it sounded like the Poly handled it well.

You can't change the theming/atmosphere - it is what it is and not necessarily everyone's cup of tea.

Staff ... again you'll run into someone grumpy anywhere ...

Just think the more people bashing the Poly the more availability for the rest of us!

Thanks for the replys, Guess I was having one of those days. I am really looking forward to the CL and my niece and nephew are as well. Heck I don't care, I'm going back to Disney World in 20:banana::banana: days!!!

We are staying at the poly this month. I booked a garden room and requested a higher floor near the beach. Just wondering if it is worth upgrading to a lagoon view or even further to a magic kingdom view. We usually stay at CR; this is a first time at Poly and only for two days. I am bringing mom who might not make it to the parks in the evenings so I thought if there was even a partial view of the fireworks, she might enjoy it. Is lagoon view worth it and then which building do I request?

For your needs, you might consider upgrading to club level garden view. That way, you can have a lounge that has great views of the castle, fireworks and beach as well as a place to hang out and get food. Your mom may get more out of it that way.

This is a great idea for you luvdmouse - great suggestion jandkmom! A GV CL room is the same price or cheaper than a standard TPV room (depending on when you stay) and you will have the bonus of the use of the lounge and the food & beverages included. Relaxing in the lounge at night with some refreshments while watching the fireworks might be more enjoyable for your mom. Hawaii is in a prime location and the view from the lounge is fantastic! (plus they pipe in the music for Wishes, which you may or may not hear from a regular lagoon/TPV view room, depending on which longhouse you are in)

I agree! What a great idea! I am sure your mother would love this. :thumbsup2

Love this thread! My husband and I are taking our two boys to the Poly for the first time next month! It's our first time at a Deluxe and also our first time staying club level! I am so excited, I could spit!

Anyone have any tips of what I can expect staying club level?

There are elevators in all buildings! You can check out the layouts of all buildings at www.tikimanpages.com, scroll down until you see longhouses, click on it and then find the building you want. There are elevators, stairs, soda machines on every level and ICE.

Another POR transplant checking in. We were given the choice of upgrade since, like some other posters mentioned, the Royal Rooms will not be ready when originally scheduled. I'm really excited about our first stay at the Poly!

This thread has been so helpful, I really appreciate all the information.

I'll be in a garden view and have just started researching a room request.

Hey just a question for the poly veterans. Do the rooms have k cup machines?
