ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Hello, fellow POR transplants... I am still waiting for my call. We stayed at Poly last May in the Tokelau building. It has some really great garden views and is next to the quiet pool, the rooms are a little larger than some of the others and it has balconies and is closer to the TTC to catch the monorail to EPCOT. Many people like Samoa as well because it is next to the main pool. Congrats on your awesome upgrades!

Tess...I see TWO tickers popcorn:: Did I miss something? Are you staying at the Poly for your spring getaway?

Also, I think you should reschedule your F&W trip by about a month :rolleyes1

I'm just sayin :lmao:

Thanks for this info, Carrie772. I am an excited transplant from POR for the same reason Venomhatch is, but I "only" got upgraded to the Poly with a Garden View. I will happily take it!

If I wanted to request the Fiji 3rd floor--and I probably will--what do you think is the best way to handle it? Call Disney Reservations and have it noted on my ressie or just wait until I arrive? Thanks for your help.

Glad I could help! It is such fun to join in planning other people's trips! Just call Reservations and have them add that as a request. State the most important request first and then the second one. That way, if you only get one granted, it's the most crucial one.

Like for me, it's most important to me to get a patio room. But I also love Fiji, so I ask for a patio, the the longhouse.

Thank you very much!

Its confirmed our TA put the request in for the Tuvalu and they offered it and gave us theme park view. Be there on the Feb 24 - March 3rd.

We have stayed Tuvalu, TPV twice. It was great! :thumbsup2 Tuvalu is right up against the lagoon, with no beach between the building & the water, so it looks like you are right over the water when you take in the view. It is really close to the GCH & volcano pool (just a quick walk around the marina) and has a lovely veiw of the GF. Sometimes you can hear the music from the luau (but it's quiet and in the background, not obtrusive) Get your TA to put a request for 3rd floor on your reservation or first if you want the patio, but the second floor does not have balconies. Enjoy!

I'd have to agree with BreezysMom about rescheduling F&W ... :rolleyes1

Nice to see you migrated here also.

I will put in a request for third floor. Does that have a balcony?

Oh, and don't forget you will be able to watch the EWP every night from your balcony, not just Wishes. :cloud9:

Ohhhh Myyyyyy I will be calling them to request third floor then. What are the recommended rooms or do all of them on the third floor have a view like this?

I'm pretty sure they'd all have the same view - Tuvalu is a pretty small longhouse. Our room the second year was right down at the end closest to the GF/luau and we still had a great view of everything (and as I said there is no beach between the building and the water, so no trees to obstruct the view).

Definitely some pixie dust with your upgrade! :wizard:

Well as soon as I can I will call them, wait is there a direct number to them at the POLY? Or call the res line?

From TTC you can catch a bus to DHS and AK. Additionally, you can take the direct monorail to EPCOT.

To get to other resorts, you need to either take a cab or catch a bus from one of the theme parks. If you were going to another resort from the Polynesian, obviously, MK would be your nearest option to catch a resort bus.

If you need something more specific, ask away! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Our priorities for our requests are balcony/patio and close to TTC. We have a garden view room. Is there anything else I should request or be thinking of?

You make requests through the central reservation line.

Thanks!

Just remember that a room close to the TTC is going to put you farther away from the GCH and volcano pool - I'm not sure if that is a big deal for you or not, but since you have kids I thought I'd mention it. Also, the monorail to the MK is very handy from the GCH platform (you can still get buses from the Poly to the other parks, they may just pick up at another resort on their way). Taking one of the launches from the Poly to the MK is also another option that can be enjoyable (usually very relaxing and uncrowded).

ETA: The Poly isn't a huge property - when we've stayed in Tuvalu, which is one of the further longhouses from the TTC it only took about 10 minutes to walk there, so again, if the other things I've mentioned are also important to you proximity to the TTC may not be a huge deal

I'm starting to feel like I made the wrong choice with the CL. Don't see alot of info on it. Doesn't anyone stay there? We are there in 23 days and now I'm having second thoughts. We got a garden view. Should I request a certain floor. I think someone had said the 3rd floor because of the balcony. Any last minute tips or ideas would be great. I am taking my 12 year old niece and my 16 year old nephew.
Thanks in advance.

There's lots of folks who stay CL at Poly, myself included. There's tons of info on this thread and the Club Level thread also found on the resort board.

Stayed GV CL in December and we loved it. Especially with the ages of your kids. We had a 19 and a 16yo. They loved it. We didn't make any requests (because I was secretly hoping for a TPV upgrade and was afraid that a request would hamper that) and we got 3rd floor GV. Even with the GV (which was beautiful in its own right), you can enjoy the MK view of fireworks, etc, with piped in music, from the CL, with a glass of wine and a beer, if you'd like (as we did). I'd do it again in a second!

I stayed CL in Nov/Dec for the 2nd time. We LOVE staying CL! But... I only feel like its worth it if you actually spend time at the resort. If you are a open to close park person then you may not feel like its worth it to you. :confused3 We spent MANY evenings at the resort and every night but 2, we watched Wishes and Holiday Wishes from our balcony. It was nice being spoiled a little bit and having access to snacks and drinks, not to mention grabbing a croissant for breakfast. Just make sure you take advantage of all that CL has to offer.... then, you won't regret it! :thumbsup2

Finally... things have calmed down from the holidays so I had time to load my pics from my Nov/Dec trip! We stayed TPV CL!

We always left a tip for our turn down Mousekeeping and this is what we got!

More on next post...

Still quite active. Just the name is obsolete! Any questions?

Hi Carrie,
This will be our first stay at the Polynesian as well. We have a Lagoon view and I am also wondering if you have any suggestions for better buildings, floors, etc. to request. We are travelling with our DS who is 7 and our best friend's DS who are 10 and 6. This is my bucket list resort - so I am hoping to make the most of this stay!!
Thanks for any info you can send my way!
Jocelyn
