ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Rainstorms here, earthquakes there (D.C.) and hurricane Irene in WDW....wonderful day. Our plans got cancelled here due to the severe thunderstorms...so now instead of Millenium Park for my bday, it's movie marathon....and a lot of fattening food. I think I may make a Banana Cabana soon and put in one of my glowing ice cubes!!!!

Not a bad alternative!;)

Anybody feel the earthquake? I did slightly. DD in central Virginia felt it a lot stronger than here outside Pittsburgh. No damage or injuries, there, Thank God. Scary just the same. :scared1:

I hope everyone is O.K. from earthquake & all the folks on way to WDW are safe (IRENE)!:)& anyone in her path...

We had an earthquake in Colorado (southern) late last night! Strongest one in 40 years. I did not feel it where I am at though (between Denver and the flatirons of Boulder).

Hi BreezysMom!! I haven't seen any posts from you lately. Glad to see you back. Looks like we will miss each other at the Poly. Just back from the Jersey shore and wishing the rest of summer away so we can get back "home". Didn't think we were going this year but then the Pin Fairy visited us. CL here we come :dance3:

That is awesome! We did a last minute trip in 2009, our last time there. I think it was about 2 months aout. The wait certainly beat out the 16 month wait of our first trip and the 24 months since our last :headache:

I am getting very excited!! :woohoo:

Happy Birthday Kathy! :bday: I took the day off to spend with Breezy before she heads back to school and instead of our initial plans of the pool, we have been lazy bums still in our PJs! :rolleyes1

Enjoy what is left of your day. It looks like it is starting to get dark and windy again  so stay safe too :goodvibes

Thinking of you all in the path of the storm and those of you that felt the earth shake!

Wishing I had a trip planned closer than May! Man, it's a long wait!

My DH told me. We travel to Colorado every February, Crested Butte, Keystone, Steamboat, Breckenridge etc. I'm sure this is a stupid question but, do you ski? My BIL lives in Durango. Have you had any aftershocks?

Definitely felt it. I was at a client's office in Greentree (Foster Plaza, if you know the area) and we were evacuated from the building. It felt like I was on a rocking boat - pictures on the wall and blinds on the windows banging. Really freaked me out - never thought of an earthquake - thought the building was falling :scared1: I don't think I could live in So. California!

Thanks! I have my Banana Cabana  in hand and told DH and the kids we are going to pick a make-up day in WDW since the trip is my gift for my 40th.

As for the earthquake....nothing here that I noticed, but I spoke to my DB who works in Washington D.C. and they were all a little shooken up since everyone thought of a bomb explosion at first. Not what I call a relaxing day at work......

Just got our last piece of Mickey Mail! We check in 4 weeks from today. Just 28 days until I meet my beloved rum soaked pineapple again!

we will be there the 17th to the 27th:cool1: and I had a question on CS,i thought i read that Capt cooks(i think thats the name) is open 24 hrs?,if not what time do they open In the morining

We ...DH, DD27, DD22 and I ...will be there from the 19th- 23rd....celebrating our DDs 22nd birthday  and her recent college graduation....:dogdance:

she wants to spend the weekend before at Harry Potters :sad2:

By the way 43 days out and was hoping that WDW was reading my mind and getting my Mickey Mail out in time for my bday....:confused3....but no such luck. My whole family knows - hands of the Mickey Mail, if they still want their hands. Mom gets to open it like a presentation for everyone!!!!:rolleyes1

Just got back from 7 fantastic days at the Poly and wanted to give everyone a quick update on the volcano pool bracelets. They are definitely still being used. I spoke to a CM who told me they are passing them out every day from 10am to 6pm. We saw multiple people being asked to leave. Some were rather large groups. It was quite comical at times listening for people trying to explain (lie) about why they did not have their room key with them. I made a point to tell the CM how much we appreciated the fact that they were doing this and asked her to be sure to pass this on to management. Apparently the CM's who are handing out the bracelets are the attendants waiting on the cabana patrons. She did mention that if one of the attendants calls off for the day, the bracelets usually stop getting handed out as a result. I would like to post some general impressions of the Poly. Would it be more appropriate here or in the trip report thread?

huntconn, Hi :goodvibes I can't wait to hear more about your trip. :thumbsup2 , What building where you in? I am still trying to decide which one to put down as my request. Thanks.

I've not had a banana cabana, but I cant wait to try one. As far as earthquake---I knew with all the craziness going on in the world right now, people would think terrorist attack. Thank goodness reports are good as far as injuries, just scared alot of people. Remember the days when, we would have automatically thought weather event?:scared1:
