DVD players are installed in all Club Level rooms under the TV but not in standard rooms.

I had heard you could ask for them at club level but never knew they were actually in the room. Shows you how much attention I paid when we were there in August.

Both rooms are paid in full. So if they're paid, does anyone know if there is discussion or documentation of pricing? Thanks - I know this is a weird question. I just really don't want mom- & dad-in-law to stress out about what this is all costing. :flower3:

My check in paperwork showed no $$$ amounts anywhere on in back in September.

Poly Vacation 9/14-9/21!!!!!

Just returned from my first ever Poly stay. I've always wanted to stay there since a character breakfast there 27 years ago, but it was always out of our budget with 5 kids. So now that the kids are grown, my husband and I treated ourselves to a three day stay, before the Poly changes happen. It was everything I had hoped it would be:love::love::love: I had requested Samoa longhouse, king bed, third floor so I would have a balcony. Made those requests on my initial reservation, also did online check-in and requested Samoa, balcony (only two choices allowed online) and we got all our requests :) I was soooooooooooo excited and the room was perfect. We were overlooking the quiet pool and loved that view. We loved the resort as much as I thought I would. It was beautiful, quiet, the CMs were all very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and updated, bell services helped us move in and out of our room very efficiently. The construction did not affect us at all. In Samoa, we wouldn't have even known it was going on. Yes, from the beach at the volcano pool, it was obvious, big mounds of dirt and backhoes, etc. Also the one day we walked to the transportation center to catch the monorail to Epcot the fencing around the closed parking lot was very ugly. But for the most part construction was not a big issue. I am so very glad to have had this trip and to have stayed there while it was still the Poly I had always dreamed about

You have to ask to check out the DVDs but the players are mounted under the TV. It was still in the same place after the redesign in my room in May.

I learn something new every day, I never realized it was there on our last stay.

Can you request a DVD player for a standard room? Or maybe I'll bring my laptop. I have a few DVDs I still need my kids to see and there is forecast for a lot of rain. If we get time I'd like to show my kids who Lilo & Stitch and Chip & Dale and Aladdin & Jasmin are... :)

Does anyone know where I can find the activity schedule for November?

They do not have DVD players available for standard rooms but the jacks to hook into the TV are right in front.

The activity schedule will be in your check in packet.

Long time no see Poly peeps! :wave2:

After a very long detox from Disney trip planning I am off the wagon :worried:

We have decided on a trip next fall for F&W and basically love disney at Halloween time. The problem is I just cannot justify the cost for our biggest trip in three years to WDW by staying at the Poly with all that is going on there.

DD and DH are demanding a monorail resort but neither are fans of the GF and I am not a fan of CR at all. I am trying to convince them that if we stay at GF we can still walk to the poly and enjoy the dining and so forth.

Personally I would like to jump to an EPCOT resort but neither of them will entertain it.

I know there are greater tragedies in the world but I'm perplexed as to what to do :confused:

Advice and suggestions welcome:worship:

Howdy!! Nice to see you here again! My husband is a diehard Poly believer because he says that way he can 'deal' with Disney :rotfl: BUT I have managed to get him to stay at Boardwalk and Beach Club especially because we can get a 1 bedroom villa!! During discount times, and sometimes non-discount, we have found we can get a villa for the same price as the Poly standard room :scared1: And I am so NOT the clown pool fan but I tried it and… I didn't like it but not because of the clown face!! It was bumpy on my bottom! We really liked their villa pool at BW though and spent a lot of time there. As for Beach Club, the pool is amazing - especially for older kids and NOTHING can beat walking to your room after Illuminations and not rushing to a bus or monorail! Just a thought from me! I have not stayed at GF or Contemporary though - neither appeal to me as somewhere to stay but I do like to visit them while I'm at the Poly. And I'd stay at the Poly during construction if I were to pick a monorail resort!

Good luck with the decision!

We requested Fiji or that longhouse I can't seem to spell, Aoteroa I booked standard view. If you see a blond with wavy hair and a 28 yr old daughter with long dark curly hair say hi!! I'll be there checking in on 20th

Will do. And if you see a mom with short brown hair and two kids saying "Michael, Michael, Michael!" repeatedly, semi stunned husband trailing slightly behind her, that's me! :)

This describes my family only its MOM MOM MOM and me saying "I am changing my name and not telling you what it is!" with all the other stuff ROFL!

Ha! I tell them I'm changing my name and moving to Istanbul!

The "Michael" is my son who is in twenty different directions all the time and who never responds unless his name is called by me at least three times.

You have one of those too. According to Bill Cosby it is a proven fact that something has to be said to a kid 3 times for them to get it...like Come here come here come here...no no no..stop it stop it stop it...mine mine mine ROFL!!

which longhouse should we request for? These are our details...

party of 5 Garden View
vacation time: 12/22 - 1/3
would like to have a balcony
prefer not to be next to construction fences and would like to be on the closer side to GF for easier access to gym.
Quieter is better

I would say Fiji or Arerotoa. Fiji has the marina on one side and garden on the other. The marina is considered a garden view. Aretotoa has the monorail on one side and some garden views on the other. Both are pretty quiet, away from the current construction, and close to the GCH.

Tinkerbellie, you rock! I saw your name as most recent post and I was HOPING you had answered my questions. Yay! Thank you so much!!

So, if you had a table service credit to spend - would you pick Captain Cooks over the sit-down meal at Kona for lunch?

(I'll look into room service too... sounds like a fun idea!)

Would pick Kona without hesitation, unless the menu doesn't look like the type of food you would like. Service is okay, food is excellent.

Dh and I had lunch at Kona on our last trip in August. The food was really good and so was the service. After looking at both Menu's for Kona I prefer what they have to offer at lunch. Capt. Cooks was good also but it is your basic counter service food. There are different things that you can't get at other resorts yes but it is counter service food. Kona has more of a made to order taste and feel plus some really interesting entree's.

I'm in too! Also August for us. We usually visit that time every year and sometimes over the winter, as well. We've stayed at many different resorts, with YC being our favourite thus far. We're really excited for the Poly and waiting until Christmas to tell the kids. I'll have lots of questions, as it's our first stay, and will be following along for the answers. Aloha! :goodvibes

Just arrived. LOVE the place. Eating at Kona. :) Water feature is not running. Nobody knows why.
