We just checked in this morning. Resort is still awesome but we are far from construction in Fiji. The room is beautiful and overlooks the beach and GF Wedding Pavillion. Seems pretty quiet. I think construction has scared many people away.

Love to hear it!

Pics??? Please and thank you!

We asked for Samoa with a balcony.

Aloha! We arrive the day before you and leave on the 8th also. If you see family with three (big)boys it's probably us!

Yay!

We should have a DISmeet over a lapu lapu.
Did someone say lapu lapu? I'm in. :cool1:

Hope you are having a great time :wizard:.

Glad to hear that all is fine there. Is the volcano pool open? My wife said she thought it was closed. I am under the impression that is will not close until the end of July.

Right now slated for 7/26 to close but Disney does change things often.

Just got back from our trip at the Poly. We had a great time! My favorite time of the day remains watching the fireworks over the castle each evening! Loved it so much that I am thinking of booking a short trip just before or after Christmas to visit Lego Land and MK. We would want to stay at the Poly, to enjoy our nightly fireworks, and to be at our "home away from home". I know that the pool will be down then, and we would get 1 waterpark day free. Don't they close the waterparks that time of year?

My big question is where are the discounts??!! With all the construction at that time, I would expect some type of discount. I keep checking different websites, but they all have the same prices. Any ideas?

Aloha!!:beach:

Checking out the latest on the construction and found the beautiful Poly thread all the way down on the 3rd page?!? Has everyone jumped ship for less demolished climes?!

Had to bump you all up, can't let you languish in the Resorts forum netherworld.:grouphug:

LoveMickeyMouse - we found the same thing when the Grand Floridian was under major construction. Instead of deeper discounts, we had a lesser discount - go figure!

Wondering if the tiki torches along the beach in front of Hawaii are lit right now...? Anyone who has been there since the bungalow's started construction that can confirm if the torches are lit or not?

We're arriving a week from tomorrow, and while I don't mind overlooking the bungalow construction, I want my tiki torches, lol.

Anyone been on the beach after dark lately? :goodvibes

We have decided NOT to jump ship. I have wanted to stay at the Poly for many years. Now we finally have an opportunity b/c my aunt won a trip to Disney. Though she is staying at the GF (with two of my kids), we are being given a 45'ish% discount wherever we want to stay. This is my one and only time to be able to stay there so I'm not giving it up. Construction or not. I want to be there. Sure, I wish more than anything there was no construction but it is what it is, right? We make the best of it :goodvibes We'll be there mid-Dec for a week!

And I do so agree that Disney should be giving some DEEP discounts with all the construction going on.

You shouldn't be paying anywhere close to full price to stay at the Poly in its current condition, but if they are giving you a 50% discount then I think it is still worth staying there. We are paying $212 inclusive of all taxes per night to stay there in August. I thought it was good deal.

I hope you arrive to find the torches are, indeed, still in force.:goodvibes I agree, they are an integral part of the resort.~sigh~

How exciting! Winning a trip to Disney must be so much fun, especially if you can choose any resort and get a good discount for family members.pixiedust: Enjoy the Poly!

Great deal and I agree, 50% off seems reasonable for the major construction. Except for us, after the pool closes we would have to find another home, discount or no. We spend too much time at the resort and pool in the summer months.:flower3: Others do not, and spend a lot of time at the parks, which probably makes it easier to overlook some of the inconvenience.

We were in the same boat 2 summers ago at the GF! Even though it is our favorite resort, we had to go elsewhere, we couldn't deal with the courtyard pool construction during the summer. But plenty of GF fans didn't mind at all, everybody has different priorities on vacation.:)

How sweet are you my GRAND buddy  You know how hard the GF construction was for me to actually keep a reservation there..UGH. My summer trip was Poly CL then a few ch-ch-changes later WL CL. The family chose a villa and we switched to OKW. With Poly and now WL plus the monorail stuff....MK resorts aren't in the cards for us this summer. :beach: Can't wait to see the finished Polynesian Village though!!!!!:goodvibes

Historically, Disney has not offered discounts because of construction. So I would be surprised if they started to offer them now.

Wow where did you find a deal like that?

Glad you had a great time :goodvibes. We've only had one stay at the Poly and that was enough for us to fall in love with it and one of our favorite things to do was watching the fireworks from a hammock on the beach :cloud9:. Hope you are able to make it back for Christmas.

As far as deep discounts, it would be nice if there were some offered for resorts that are undergoing construction, but as the pp said, Disney has yet to do that :( (and I also would be surprised if they started doing it).

I can't answer your question, but I hope the tiki torches are lit for your trip because that is one of the many great things we love about the Poly as well :goodvibes.

Congrats on the great discount :thumbsup2. I hope you have a great trip and enjoy the Poly....it really is an awesome resort :wizard:.

We are the same way. I would be able to handle the Poly with the DVC construction, but the pool being closed would a deal breaker for us during the summer as we spend a lot of time poolside ;).

I agree about the MK area......so much going on with those resorts and the monorail right now that it doesn't make it too appealing to book any of them :sad2:.

A travel agency banned from the DIS who has a Labor Day deal for Poly, YC/BC, GF and WL:flower3:

That is the problem with having a message forum that is part of a travel agency. A forum should be a place to share all information that helps people with their travel plans. I have a sponsor of my site that is a travel agency but I don’t hesitate to tell people where they can get special rates on my site or on my Facebook page because the number one goal is to get good information to people. My facebook page has people sending me photos and live reports of what is going on at the Polynesian and many of these people are travel agents from many different Disney planners.

Not too long ago my own site was banned from being posted on here but I think they realized I am only trying to share information. Hopefully my commentary does not get me blocked.
