How do you handle specific room # requests - Is that something you can just call the CRO about?

Yup. Call CRO and ask them to add your requests to your reservation.

YAY! Have a great vacation and soak up some sun and a few Pina Colavas for the rest of us still buried in snow and cold, blowing winds.....Enjoy:goodvibes I think in GV you should be fine. You will be facing the opposite way of the daytime noise on the lagoon and with the door closed I am sure your DH will nap OK....as long as Mousekeeping does not interrupt;) CCs will be closed but the temporary CS should be OK for quick trips or you can visit the GF or CR for more CS selection. The path to the TTC is said to be open with green screens blocking the construction sites along the path. Monorail should be fine but if it is down you always have the boats to MK! Pools should be open for you as well. I have not heard of any other GCH issues except for check-in being temporarily moved and possibly the demolition of the waterfall. I would just keep an eye on tikiman's site as your trip gets closer to see how the lower level of the GCH is being affected. No faxes. Just a simple call to CRO to add the requests to your ressie and then you may have extra room request choices with your online check-in however I don't remember seeing a screen shot of those choices. If anyone can post a screen shot of that when they are doing the advance online check-in....that would be fabulous!

Thank you for the info!

We just got back from Poly. The construction didn't impact us, although it was an eyesore when looking at the resort from the boat. We were initially put in a room that had not been refurbished (Rapa Nui?). I was VERY unhappy. Both the room and building looked dated and dark. I was able to get a refurbished room in Tokeleau and was happy then. The room was nice. The housekeeping in the hallways was not great, specifically the carpets were dirty. I wouldn't have really noticed this except we just got back from AoA which was very clean.

Well I did it...I just couldn't stay away for our May trip! after hearing the pool would be open...I moved our trip up a day and was able to book a GVCL room May16-22.

I can rest now...:rotfl2:

If the pool is closed this fall/winter due to construction, can we assume that we'll have access to the GF or CR pool?

I believe that people have said that in prior Poly pool closures, guests were permitted to use the GF pool instead.

Was your room facing the construction or facing the quiet pool? I'm having trouble figuring out which longhouse to request.

I just caved and upgraded our initial POR stay to the Polynesian. We've never stayed before (we've done the BC last few times) and my wife always said if we ever moved away from the BC, she'd only do it for the Poly. Now, we initially sought to do our upcoming trip more budget conscious and therefore booked POR and everyone said they were excited to try the new resort, but after thinking on it (and Poly standard rooms becoming available for the Spring Vacation special at ~$350/night), knowing we only go once every 3 years or so, I just couldn't resist. Going to surprise her on her upcoming birthday with the upgrade news - thinking of not telling our son til we get there and go right to the Poly (which we've walked through on previous trips). Daughter (1) I think will just be happy to be there!

Back to the original point - I think I'd rather be closer to the TTC so Tokelau seems like a good choice, but what I don't want is a view of a construction site or construction noise interrupting nap times or quiet afternoons on the balcony during nap time! And I don't know if "Tokelau, facing the quiet pool, with a balcony or patio" is way too "greedy" of a request to make.

hi all - oh how I threaten to stay poly but didn't until refurb complete. Usually I am a BC/YC go'er but willing to do poly if upgraded.

Need to know:

1. ALL rooms updated or at least ALL of Hawaii so I reserve club I am promised an updated room or is this not true? MUST HAVE UPDATED room so entire resort done or just stick with Hawaii to be sure?

2. Trip is mid June. This is a biggie. Will pool be closed? If so, deal breaker...

Thanks!!!!

All of the rooms at the Poly have been refurbed except for those being converted to DVC. According to the info available the pool will still be open in June, however, it sounds like the QS, Captain Cook's will be closed at that time (there will be an alternate temporary QS set up at another location at the resort though).

I was mistaken about the location of Cast Cove (the temporary location for Captain Cook's). I was thinking it was the Cast area over next to Tangaroa Terrace that is used for storage and a fitness room for CMs but Cast Cove is located down the hall from Captain Cook's in the GCH so the temporary location will not be far from where it is now. The menu will be limited from what I am told.

Just my two cents....but I would suggest requesting "East Pool View, Balcony or Patio" If you request Tokelau, but they do not have a view of the pool available, you may get the other side facing construction. By placing East Pool View as your first request, they will assume this is the most important and you would still have the option of being assigned Rorotonga or Samoa facing the East Pool and both are relatively close to the TTC. It just gives the room assigner more information on what is important to you and more options to fulfill your requests.

Thanks! Is "East Pool" the official name of the quiet pool? That would seem to be a great "universal" request as that would, as you say, encompass that whole area but make sure to note the preference to not be facing construction (although I assume this will be popular).

But then again, I've never been, and am only going by a map. Does the "other side" of Tokelau really face the current construction and will those rooms be obviously affected by it?

Yes...East Pool is the official name for what we call the quiet pool at the Poly. Each resort calls their quiet pool by some other name. Here on the DIS we call the pool that isn't the feature pool the quiet pool because it is usually just that...more quiet than the other pool :rotfl: and many think it is more "adult" but that is not the case. The other side of Tokelau facing the TTC will have a construction view. I remember reading that those rooms were overlooking a lot of green screened fencing but I do not recall if guests were also seeing/hearing trucks and such coming and going. Maybe someone else will have more info on that.

I think by being more general with your request, you are more likely to get what you really want. A balcony or patio overlooking an area that is not under construction yet still close to the TTC:goodvibes

Is the path from Poly to GF pavement, gravel or sand? Thanks! 9 days & counting!!!!

Wow, I guess I stayed away from the DIS too long.....

I called today to inquire about our upcoming fall trip and my TA is all snarly with me when I asked some basic questions. I guess they must be getting hammered by the Poly lovers like me :confused3

Being a Poly diehard, the decision to move or stay for this trip is a very hard one. One thing that I do know for sure is with Disney, there are no absolutes and time tables change constantly but I cannot see paying even discounted Poly rates for a resort under so much construction??

Ahhhhhh, what to do :(

Take a look at my new ticker and it will become clear what you must do ;)
