Wow, I guess I stayed away from the DIS too long.....
I called today to inquire about our upcoming fall trip and my TA is all snarly with me when I asked some basic questions. I guess they must be getting hammered by the Poly lovers like me![]()
Being a Poly diehard, the decision to move or stay for this trip is a very hard one. One thing that I do know for sure is with Disney, there are no absolutes and time tables change constantly but I cannot see paying even discounted Poly rates for a resort under so much construction??
Ahhhhhh, what to do![]()

1. Does anyone know if the laundry room can still be used while the Neverland Club is being renovated? 2. Can anyone tell me if the bathroom doors in the long houses are frosted glass or solid wood? Thanks!!!
Stayed at Polynesian 2/10-2/14. The laundry room was open. We used it twice. Laundry machines and dryers each cost $2 per use. They do have a change machine. We were in Aotearoa, which was a fairly long walk from the laundry. Did laundry one evening while having dinner at Kona Cafe.1. Does anyone know if the laundry room can still be used while the Neverland Club is being renovated?

Solid wood

Well the decision is made! So long Poly peeps for now!
I am heading over to the GF for our October trip! The construction is too much to bear.
We will be back summer of 2015! Heading over to the GF board and I guess I have to change my ticker!
A lot of discussion on the Ploy.....
I thought I read somewhere that as the construction gets into full gear this spring, summer, they will be offering discounts, deals, etc, to stay at the Poly?
Is this true?
Next question is....we have resides for mid-august.....if special rates are offered, is it possible to get our current reservation adjusted to the lower rates.....
We are on the fence as to stay or change to another resort, and this may be an incentive to stay.....

Hi everyone,
New to this thread. We are thinking of a return trip to WDW in late April and my DH has always wanted to stay at the Poly. Would be interested in CL near the lounge and was curious if the lounge is on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor?
Thanks so much!![]()
Anything is possible, but deep discounts aren't usually offered when resorts have construction. From what I've been reading, people are still booking the Poly even with construction and the pool closure, so it wouldn't surprise me if the Poly was near capacity this summer. With that said, if you book now and a discount comes out later, you can have the discount applied to your existing reservation as long as what you have booked is available under the discount as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied. HTH.
My theory is that when resorts are in construction and aren't projected to sell as well, Disney sells more deeply discounted blocks to travel agencies instead of directly offering deep discounts to the public.
This allows them to maintain a higher brand image of the resort and capitalize on the fact that a large number of people are unaware of either: (A) the construction; or (B) that deeper discounts can be obtained via a travel agency.
And, in the case of the Poly, you have to factor in that Tahiti and Rapa Nui longhouses will be out of commission for most of the construction period, representing a substantial reduction in overall resort capactity.
For all of these reasons and the general popularlity of the Poly, I don't expect Disney to directly offer deep discounts even during the heaviest construction period (30-35% max).
I am at Tokelou right now. My balcony overlooks the construction and it hasn't bothered me at all. The GCH still has the falls and that made me happy. One more family pic before they are gone. The monorail being down only made getting to Artist Point last night a little stressful for our reservation, but the staff there were understanding, we used the path to the TTC daily and it was great. The rest of the atmosphere is still uniquely Polynesian. I have no regrets for staying here.
