ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

Posting my semi-weekly "jealous of all of you there or going soon" and "hoping everyone is having or will soon have a most bodacious time whilst in the lap of Poly luxury" reply. Also, getting my Poly fix ... as well as checking on my countdown. :goodvibes

I'm here being "jealous" with you!! The weather here has been not so great, so dreaming of sand and sunny warm skies at the Poly :goodvibes
We determined yesterday that we're going to be able to fly (due to some pixie dust we received) which is awesome so while I'm bummed I have to limit my packing now for the plane, it will save us alot of money and a 20-hour drive:thumbsup2

On a previous trip, we had booked a non CL room with a discount and really wanted CL.When we checked in, we asked about paying for an upgrade to CL. They had room availability, but not with the discount that we had. We could have done it but paying rack rate! I currentl have a GVCL booked with a pin for our upcoming trip and wanted to arrive two days earlier than I originally planned. I have called several times and they had nothing available. Then, they had one night earlier available... so I took that. Now I am still trying to add one more night with the discount, but it is still unavailable. I had some success and will keep calling periodically to check. Good Luck!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice! We arrive a week from tomorrow so am hoping for a miracle. Either way I am not going to be disappointed. I mean HELLO... I am at DISNEY... at the Poly... in a CL ROOM! :goodvibes

I have been wandering what the upgrade cost would be though? Anyone know or have an idea? I have 35% off the room discount and we are staying 7 nights.

It is usually about $100 more per night for the TPVCL rooms vs the GVCL. Might be a bit more than that now that they added the TVPCL view over the LVCL. :guilty:

Midweek in May (15th & beyond) rack rates (Fri/Sat are higher):
GV CL - $585
LV CL - $759
TPV CL - $883

Midweek in May 35% off (if avail):
GV CL - $380
LV CL - $493
TPV CL - $574

Assume you went from GV CL disc. to LV CL disc.: add $113 p/n
Assume you went from GV CL disc. to TPV CL disc.: add $194 p/n
Assume you went from GV CL disc. to LV CL non disc.: add $379 p/n
Assume you went from GV CL disc. to TPV CL non disc.: add $503 p/n
weekend nights will add more.

If it were me I'd look at the GVCL discounted to TPVCL non discounted and add up that 500 extra for each night and think of how many nights your there and consider another vacation paid for based on what your saving GV CL alone and be very happy. :rotfl:

Oh yea.... I agree! I wont be paying another $2000+ for TPV! NO WAY! If it were $700 that I would do. But anything over $1000 will stop the train as that is another Disney trip in the making! Thanks for the info though! That helps ALOT! :thumbsup2

Just upgraded to the deluxe meal plan from the regular dining plan and it was exactly $31 per day per adult (we're going during peak season in July).

I mentioning this b/c there was a post a page or so back about the price and it turned about to be exactly as posted at $78.99. There is no peak season for deluxe -- it's the same through all seasons.

Ohhh. . . guess that hurts more than the good old days of $100 more per night. . .

Only two days until your cruise:goodvibes. Would you have preferred to have stayed longer at the Poly or was this just the right amount of time? Is your DD excited about her first-ever cruise?

Yes, only two days here....:sad2:
But to answer your question, 8 days at the Poly (plus the first one at POP), was enough. Don't get me wrong, it's simply gorgeous. But we are so busy elsewhere that it doesn't really count. Tonight, because of the grad nites, we couldn't take the bus to MK (the driver refused us) to come back from Boma. So we had to take the bus to Epcot (that was leaving AKL as the MK bus driver was refusing us access). 20 minutes later, we boarded and then we had to take the monorail and then walk from TTC. It took 70 minutes from Boma to our room. We left Poly at 8:30 this morning and came back at 9:30, just in time to put the little one in bed after her night routine, including shower and calling daddy at home. Today was a "short" day, compared to previous days. DD wanted to go in the quiet pool that is now open, but she would still be up as I write this post. We will never regret Poly, but this 8 days of "craziness" is enough for DD11 who lives with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and few other ones of these interesting diagnosis. We still have 4 cruising days and 4 other days in "other parks" too.

So, under theses circumstances, yes, for us, it was enough.
Hope it helps,

:tinker:Poussière de fée!

Happy and safe travels--I agree, the ticker should have fireworks. Then again, who would be around to see it? :confused3 :lmao:

So happy to hear that the quiet pool is open! We are less than 2 hours away!! Made it to just beyond Jacksonville ( from D.C.) yesterday, and now we are a very anxious car full of people!! I can almost smell the Poly already!

:thumbsup2One week from today! At this time next Saturday I will have been in the air for 2 hours already, hopefully with a little pixie dust that will upgrade us to first class on the first segment from Seattle to Atlanta.

I will be tweeting live from the hotel and parks all week, my twitter addy is crostorfer, just like my screen name here.
