ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

Quick question. Can we bring our toaster with us to use in the room? My parents are coming this trip and they are somewhat set in their ways as far as what they like to have for breakfast and it would be great if I could just bring my toaster (we are driving, they are flying) so they could have their Flax Seed Bagels each morning. Do they allow that?

I dont see why not! Just be sure to remember to take it home with you:rotfl:

Ok, I am new to this. This is my 4 yr old twins first visit and their birthday and we are staying @ the Poly for the first time.

I have been trying like mad to get a character dining reserv. at Ohana's for awhile now....my kids only want to see Lilo and Stitch.

Is there some secret? We aren't talking about Cinderella's Table.....just Lilo and Stitch....

Since we are staying at the resort, I would think we would have an opportunity.

Any thoughts?

My head is spinning.....trying to pull this all together. Help

How exciting for your twins! They are so cute at that age:goodvibes

To add to the PPs....I agree to call every day to try and get in. If you have had no luck by your arrival date, talk to the resort concierge in the lobby and explain how Lilo & Stitch are their fav and it's their birthday. Turn on the charm and see if they can work some ADR magic for you. If the concierge cannot get you in, show up at Ohana's about 10 minutes BEFORE they open in the morning to immediately get on the waitlist. You are more likely to get in quickly this way as there are generally more no-shows for the first seatings because people have overslept or missed resort transportation and showing up late.

Good luck!

I would caution you against bringing a toaster to use in the room. Because it is not a toaster provided by the resort, you could be liable for any damage caused by your appliance. The ventilation in the rooms is also not adequate(sp?) if your bagels or crumbs start to smoke...you could end up setting off the smoke alarm. Not something you want to have to explain. I would bring the bagels but toast them in the toaster at CC's. You can then use the provided condiments there too.:goodvibes

Today was my 180 day mark...I handed off all of my ADR's to IPO & still no email

BUT......

I checked online & they got ALL of my ADR's (including Cali Grill, Akershus, Ohana x2, etc) and pretty much within 45 minutes of my requested times!!

It's a happy day at my house!!!

I'm still waiting for my email too. I also checked online & all of our dining is there (everything within 10 min. of what we requested) Still waiting to hear about our cabana rental & Illuminations cruise though ... if I hear nothing by this afternoon I will email IPO for an update. Fortunately I have to go out for a few hours so I won't waste my day hovering around the computer. :rolleyes1

Poly IPO did my Adrs back on March 8th and I was able to check them online by 1030 am that day but I didnt get an email from them until around 1pm the next day.. I was so glad I was able to look at them online, otherwise I would have been going bonkers!

Arent they great! I also got everything I needed with in minutes..

With just two people you shouldmnot have a problem with walk ups! When my wife and I go alone we get into any table service that we want. Except the ones that require a credit card guarantee.(people tend to show up for their reservations when they will be charged anyway!:lmao:)
I can't remember if you are the one that wanted to see stitch, but in MK future world there is a stage that stitch performs on.

Nope... not the one who wanted to see Stitch but I believe you are talking about Tomorrowland! :rotfl: Future World is at EPCOT! :rotfl2: BUT... to be fair, I have not seen him on stage at EPCOT but HAVE seen him just as you walk in! You got two birds with one stone! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip! Ohana is the only restaurant we didn't get into and since we are staying there CL we decided not to fret too much! And yes...I agree that most everyone shows up for the credit card reservations! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your kind and fast responses! We booked Poly, and are so excited!

I have already done my ADRs online (read - control freak!), should I contact Poly IPO w/ all of my confirmation #s so they have them in their system or is that overkill? I only ask as I read they make an itinerary for the ones they do themselves, wondering if we should have one of those, or if it's my OCD coming out:rolleyes1

Woohoo, congrats! I would contact the IPO so they can make up your itinerary, they just plug in the info you provide vs the conf #'s they would have obtained. We have made our own ADRs in the past and never use the itinerary they give us (I'm OCD and have daily & park index cards made long in advance) but I like to have it as a souvie to take home.

Also them having the info can come in handy. This past trip we found out 24 hours in advance our flight was canceled (blizzard - yay!) so while I had to call WDW, car rental, airline etc and reschedule, I sent 1 quick note to the IPO with our new arrival and departure dates and they handled canceling the ADRs we couldn't make (and offered to try re booking as well). So it was one less thing I had to stress over in the midst of full blown panic. :headache:

OH! So if I send all of my ADR's to the Concierge they will put together an itinerary for us? I know I am new to this CL thing so what does IPO stand for? TIA!

Yes, send along anything you want them to know and they will write it all up for you and email it in advance, then you'll receive a hard copy in a Polynesian themed folder upon your arrival. :thumbsup2 Any changes you make though, you will need to let them know, or once they have your info you can ask them to try for any changes for you. ;)

AWESOME! Thanks so much! :goodvibes

:lmao: It's finished! We are now staying at the Poly for our last 3 nights. It's funny because I have wanted the Poly ALL ALONG and kept resisting making the change. I even had a 40% off PIN that I did NOT use (duh). We were originally for our booked at POR with free dining (since last August!!!), then switched to BC/ASMu, then ASMu/BC, now ASMu/Poly! I'm NOT changing again...lol. I think the CM are started to recognize me. The only thing I might add is an AP rate if I decide to do the Wine/Dine 1/2 in October!!

I just couldn't resist any longer either .... we've switched to the Polynesian Club Level once again.

I can't break away ... it's like a home away from home ... and thinking about Disney without Polynesian doesn't seem the same ... this must be some type of addiction :rotfl:

This is my granddaughter's first Disney visit and having the convenience of the Hawaii building, the beach, the hammocks and the pool steps away was what finally convinced me to switch.

Just clued in that 180 + 10 only counts for dining reservations! We will still have to wait for the other reservation windows to open. Sheesh, you'd think I'd been sucking back lapu lapu's all morning or something! :rotfl:

ARRRGGHHH - why did I have to do that!!! :confused3

Took a look at the accuweather forecast for my upcoming trip and 2 out of the first 3 days (so far that is all they have forecasted) is rain... and not the normal Florida afternoon Tstorm - real rain!! So I know me and now I am going to spend the next week stressing over the rain..... I know that there is penty of time for this to change - but I am going to be checking everyday for that change!

Have a good night everyone!

We must be going the same time because I just saw the same thing! :scared1: If it's any consolation though the same thing was said before our September trip and we didn't even get an afternoon thunderstorm in the entire 7 day trip! So let's hope for some more of that pixie dust!

This will be the first time back at the Poly for us as a family of 4! I'm super excited ... the last 2 years we have been "frugal" in our vacationing and this year it's 10 days! I can't wait... only 7 more sleeps here!:banana::banana:
