ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

ARRRGGHHH - why did I have to do that!!! :confused3

Took a look at the accuweather forecast for my upcoming trip and 2 out of the first 3 days (so far that is all they have forecasted) is rain... and not the normal Florida afternoon Tstorm - real rain!! So I know me and now I am going to spend the next week stressing over the rain..... I know that there is penty of time for this to change - but I am going to be checking everyday for that change!

Have a good night everyone!

Try not to stress over it. A rainy day in Disney is better than a rainy day at home, right? :thumbsup2

And for the record, our Jan trip had beautiful mid to upper 60's forecasted for every day (as of the night before we left), well low and behold 2 days later it was monsoon like down there and in the 40's (BTW Epcot was NOT a good rainy day park  ). You can't rely so much on those forecasts for making or breaking your trip. Just roll with it and have a great time!! :hippie:

Today was my 180 day mark...I handed off all of my ADR's to IPO & still no email

BUT......

I checked online & they got ALL of my ADR's (including Cali Grill, Akershus, Ohana x2, etc) and pretty much within 45 minutes of my requested times!!

It's a happy day at my house!!!

I'm still waiting for my email too. I also checked online & all of our dining is there (everything within 10 min. of what we requested) Still waiting to hear about our cabana rental & Illuminations cruise though ... if I hear nothing by this afternoon I will email IPO for an update. Fortunately I have to go out for a few hours so I won't waste my day hovering around the computer. :rolleyes1

The Poly IPO must love me best  I got my e-mail at about 9a.m. this morning :cool1:

I will confess though that I woke up this morning to an e-mail alerting me to a charge on my Disney card for some dining....since we are on the dining plan I was like :scared1: So I sent an e-mail reminding them I was on the dining plan and should not have charges for CRT and the Luau. I did not want to have to put out the $$ now and have it refunded at the trip:confused:. But they caught it before I they even got my e-mail so all is good :thumbsup2

Now just awaiting MNSSHP tickets to go on sale and before you know it summer vacaction will be here

Happy ADR day to my fellow travelers :dance3:

Has anyone fished from the Poly? I don't mean renting a boat or booking a charter, but fishing from the docks or beach or something.

Dh is determined to fish at Disney. He looked at the charters and they are WAY overpriced, in our opinions. So just wondering if there are any spots where he can fish from the Poly. He'll be bringing his own gear and obviously would be doing catch & release.

I was reading the write up on that resort and they have a fishing spot that is catch and release.... a place called "Ol' Man Island"....it is free.

Besides swimming, there are many other "water-related" activities to be found at Port Orleans Riverside. You can fish for bluegill and perch at the Ol’ Man Island Fishin' Hole (a fully stocked catch and release pond) between the hours of 7:00 am and 2:30 pm. You can rent individual cane poles for $4.26 per half hour or you can choose the Family cane pole fishing adventure, for up to 6 people that costs $13.32 per half hour.

But did you look at the amount of rain? It was very small, like .05", or .o3", and if you look right now it looks great!! I arrive on May 7th and as of this moment there is no rain in the forecast. I've learned with accuweather that it's fun to look at, but this far out it's just not particularly accurate and it changes frequently. I've been checking since I hit 15 days out and it has went from rain to sunny several times.:sunny:

Just throw on a poncho and go with it. :thumbsup2 Rainy days mean shorter lines! LOL. When we were at the MK in September the skies opened up and the heavens started raining down upon us. People scattered like marbles, all hanging out under awnings and ducking into shops. My daughter and I just threw on our ponchos and stomped through the puddles and rode everything in Fantasyland at least twice with no wait at all. LOL We were running around calling people amatuers, we live in Seattle so a little rain isn't going to bring us down.

You are right everyone!!! And this is why I told myself to not even look at it... just couldn't resist. But regardless of the weather - I just can't wait to get there. Now just to get ready... of course my dryer broke this morning - so I am going to have to get a new one this week in order to do all my pre-trip laundry!

But that's still pretty far out. I'll bet you'll be okay! Our trip was predicted to have rain (I was looking at the extended forecast too) and then we didn't get a drop.

Our time is short!! Anyone going to visit the Mouse in June? :woohoo::hourglass :dancer:

Shhhhh. . .so far it is still a secret (primarily because we still aren't sure we will pull off the 2nd trip with the gas prices on a huge rise), but we're booked for June 26-July 1, 2011. So far, we're still at BWI. . . pesky gas prices. :rolleyes1

I just bought a pack of 2 rain ponchos at the Dollar Store this morning to ward off all chance of rain May 19-25. Think it'll work? I hope I can resist looking at the forecast right before we go! I'm starting to stress now that it's getting so close (any one else out there gonna be there when we are?). My Dis-friend Jane says it is just pure excitement!:banana:I sure hope she's right.
Now that we are back from our Easter trip to DD#2's, I can finally start packing!! I'm AM starting to get "Too excited to sleeeeeeeep!!". :yay:

not under 20 yet for us ... more like 21 days, 12 hours

We agree with the others who said, don't let the weather forecast scare you ... things could chance by the time you arrive ... and if it does rain, throw on a poncho/rain gear and enjoy the parks with lower crowds! :thumbsup2
