Are people still faxing in requests for longhouse or 'balcony' preferences? If so, what number should I use and how close to my arrival should I do this?

Random question... after Illuminations, what is the best way to avoid the huge crowd heading to the monorail? Do any past POLY folks know of a shortcut through Int'l Gateway and taking a bus instead? It seems you can wait over an hour and I'm not crazy about the thousands of people waiting on those ramps for the monorail!

After illuminations, walk around check out those people fighting each other to get out!! It's actually funny watching the strollers hit the back of peoples ankles! Knowing you are not in it just watching it! Relax if you can! Leisurely stroll around world showcase or a walk around the rides while they are closed!!
Different perspective!

just wanted to tell all of you who are leaving within the next couple of days to have a great time! See you there!

We will be there 2wks from tomorrow, and with only the 2 youngest, and I've still kept it a surprise!:cool1:

Why so many bad reviews:confused3

The reviews about the Polynesian luau dinner show I believe are about,
if you go expecting a serious show your going to be dissapointed!
If you go expecting a perfect seat...your going to be dissapointed!
If you go as two adults with no kids. Your going to be dissapointed!

If you go with an open mind and open heart and expect a lighthearted show
you will not be dissapointed! Foods not that great! But the bread and salad is pretty good!

We are going to the Poly for our first vacation in July. I have been searching for trip reports of families who have been to WDW in July and stayed at the Poly. So far, I have not found any.

I really would like to get an idea of this time of year. The only indication that I get from the guide books is that it will be HOT and CROWDED. I kind of already figured on that part but would like to hear the rest.

Thanks ~ Melanie :cool2:

Us too! It will be our first July vacation to WDW (previous trips were in May, then my DS hit HS and there ended the May trips)

I am curious about the crowds too. We plan on touring early, early, early... back for a swim/nap in the afternoon and then back out early evening. Hopefully we will hear from some July experienced trippers :upsidedow

Ditto on this! Seriously, people bolt out like they're giving away $10000 at the exit or something. :lmao: One of the favorite things DD and I like to do is walk around Future World to see the fiber optic effects in the concrete. Corny as it sounds, I just like hopping around following the lights. I never got to do this as a kid as my family was one of those dashing to the parking lot for that slow roll to Kissimmee to get to the timeshare. :::shudder:::

I take it the older kids are 'helping' you try to keep it a surprise? ;) :thumbsup2

Well, the bad news is July is usually crazy crowded! :scared1: The good news is you're staying at the Poly so it'll be crazy easy to just escape the parks for a swim/nap as you've planned. And you're right, get there as early as you can. Since the heat at that time of year can be equivalent of going south of hell, keep in mind those possible afternoon thunderstorms. ;) You don't want to be caught in one of those. They're very enjoyable when you're inside at the Poly though. :goodvibes

That is a great strategy for your July trip! We went as a couple that made our trip great! Just remember, patience And ADRs is the key to a good time in July! The crowds are huge. It rains everyday around 12, but it goes away around 12:10! Lol. Then the humidity sets in!

Us too in July! And we LOVE watching the sea of humanity pressing toward the exit while we just stroll around the lagoon. Yes, it's hot, but the mid afternoon break really, really makes a difference.

Checked in yesterday - happy to report no problems with housekeeping or maintenance. We are in Tokelau - used on-line checkin and got all our requests.

Can't remember who the original poster was but I don't think I saw an answer to whether CC's has whole milk or whole milk yoghurt - will try to remember to check it out in the next day or two.

We did the Luau several times with kids ages 7 to 15 and everyone enjoyed it. It's a show, food is not great, some seats are not great, especially on the floor it can be difficult to see over heads and bodies. Lower level is flat, no elevation and chairs are very low to the ground.

Years ago there was an early show with Characters (Mickey and Minnie just for kids and it was a lot of fun, but that stopped awhile ago.

Think fire sword throwing, fashion show and lots of Hawaiian music. Maybe check you tube for videos to get an idea if your family will enjoy it? :goodvibes

Very different from the Hoop-Dee-Doo, if looking for that kind of entertainment. :thumbsup2

We did the luau in 1988, we are definitely not sorry we did it but we both agree we never need to do it again. We were those with less then good seats, the food was OK but the show was not our cup of tea. We enjoyed the character luau more, at 24 go figure ;) My feelings are this about Disney experiences. I will never be sorry what I've tried, I may not do it again, but I won't be sorry that I gave it a try.

:goodvibes That's so perfect.

Don't know why...that just struck a chord with me today. :)

Hello all -
Just back from a WONDERFUL trip to the Poly. Our first time there and we LOVED it! We were in garden view room in the Tahiti building. We LOVED the location being so close to the transportation ticket center. It was so easy to get back to the resort at night. We were planning a 7 day trip and ended up staying 10 (had to transfer over to All Star Music to stay though as the Poly, and all other deluxes were full...guess that 40% off pin is pretty popular this year). After staying both deluxe and value in one trip there's no way we can ever go value or moderate again!!! The room size alone makes all the difference - especially with 3 kids ages 7, 5, & 1.

I saw a question a few posts back on whole milk - yes they do have it in the fridge section with all of the other drinks. Had to get it for my daughter while we were there.

Any questions - let me know!

 I'm glad it hit your heart spot. I truly do feel that way. I hope by the time I done on this earth that I've done almost everything Disney has to offer :thumbsup2

I strive to think that way in general. I see so many "Can't believe I wasted...on that" posts. I'm always glad to try anything once and chalk it up to experience. Good post!! :thumbsup2
