Thanks to all that helped me get this ugly rumor out of my obsessive head of mine!!! It really had me worried, because I have scheduled 2 pool days just for my dream resort because I really want to experience this resort. I am going for my own POLY immersion program:

We have 5 days planned

Arrival day (split stay from POR all I could afford is 5 days at the POLY and it is surprise to all my DD's they will think we are leaving, but NOPE! We are going to the POLY! Yippppeee, and they know it is my dream resort because I say it every time I see it!)

Day 1: Pool and Kona, Electric Water Parade:goodvibes ( I plan a Dole whip by the pool to start things off):cloud9:
Day 2: morning Epcot then pool break on to Ohanas( hoping to see torch ceremony this day)
Day 3: HS until 1 then pool then Spirit of Aloha
Day 4: Resort Day, Captain Cooks may mix it up for Dinner with CS at GF Movie on the beach, Electric Parade & aaaaaaaaaaaah Wishes
Day 5: MK pool break then Spectro, and hopefully Wishes from the beach
Day 6: Ohana breakfast pool and then the plane:sad1: farewell POLY my love:sad1:

So you see pool was a major role in my dream plans of the POLY so I truly would be devestated if it was closed...I have no intrest AT ALL in the GF pool, I love the tropical feel of POLY! Could have done BC and it would have been cheaper, but it just was not the POLY!

When I wished upon a star...I wished for the POLY:wizard: and a 40% code mixed with GV made it affordable for us and I have been scrimping, saving and doing without all in the name of the POLY.

so now I am rambling:upsidedow

Okay I can tell you for sure!! Elvis is dead and there is no refurbishment scheduled for August! They looked at me like I has three eyes when I asked.. But they called all persons that would know! The rumor is definatley false!

But I'm sure I saw him at the local gas station...:rotfl2: Thanks for getting the info for us. We are going in August and cringed when we read the rumor.:)

So funny! We're doing a split stay with POR and Poly too - only 4 nights at the Poly though. When will you be there?? We're 8/28-8/31 at POR and 8/31-9/4 at the Poly.

I didn't get that letter and they just sent another copy of my itinerary yesterday. Wonder if I should bother checking to see if I need one? We have 23 days:cool1::cool1: I'm not planning to do online check-in after reading Carlnix's experience.

The letter is e-mailed to you around 10 days prior to arrival. At least I received mine on the 10th day before arrival. You will probably receive yours when you are nearer in time to your arrival date.

Good work Sherlock! Glad you could help put that rumor to rest! :lmao:

I would not cancel or change my reservations! I sitting on poly beach looking at the castle and drinking my fourth adult beverage!! Uuuhm is this Hawaii!??

Looking forward to doing likewise. . .:yay::woohoo:

Good to know, thanks! It's our first CL stay. :dance3:Can you tell I'm getting excited? :dance3:

Oh wow, this is making me having second thoughts about where I'm staying this September! :headache: I just booked my vacation at AKL...and now...!!

Price difference wouldn't be a huge factor for me but I'm a little scared that I'll have high expectations of this resort. I've been to Hawaii many times and LOVED it! Being a frequent visitor, do you think I'll unconsciously expect a real feel of Hawaii and actually be disappointed? :confused3

I've been to both Hawaii and the Poly and certainly, Hawaii is different BUT the Poly is very well themed and it really feels like a piece of Hawaii in DisneyWorld. I've also been to AKL and I think AKL is a GREAT resort. In fact, I'd stay there a lot except that it is so far from MK and Epcot. I prefer the convenience of the monorail from the Poly and being so close to everything (AK is my least favorite park so being 5 minutes from there at AKL means little to me.)

THANK YOU for checking this out for us!!!

That all sounds fabulous! And definitely make use of the resort and their amenities. My family LOVES to hang out at the pool EVERY afternoon!!!

Looking at my ticker. Can't WAIT until next year!!!!
Sending pixie dust for everyone going this year to have a magical time.

Had to share with my fellow Poly lovers - for our girl's trip we were able to upgrade to CL TPV. :yay:

I was one of those who said I'd never do CL...did not feel the extra cost as worth it...well, put 3 women together who need a Mom's Only trip, a 40% code and guess what - Poly CL TPV was perfect! :rotfl:

:dance3:

Safe travels to all who are leaving soon - have a fabulous trip!! :goodvibes

They key thing is that you ARE going back to the Poly!!! And you have plenty of time to figure out the ADRs you want :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YES! DD (29) & I have been discussing it already! She had major surgery this spring (which is why this year's trip was postponed), so we've been talking about where to make ADR's already! I hate to wish the year away, but the thought of going back to the Poly and I'm wishing away!!
To those of you who are doing these split stays....
Have you done it before?
Is it a huge inconvenience?
I am thinking of trying this so that we can add a few days to our trip, but I don't know if it is worth the hassle.
Thoughts appreciated!:goodvibes
We've done it before (unplanned three resort split last time!), and it wasn't a hassle at all. I think the key is to know how much to unpack at a time. :thumbsup2
Congrats on the upgrade! Poly CL TPV sounds like an awesome Mom's only trip ( unfortunately there would be a rebellion in my house if I tried going to WDW without DH & kids, nevermind Poly CL TPV! :lmao:)
We just got back from our first split stay, but I'm not sure my situation would be similar to anyone else's. We were to be at the Dolphin for a week, but it was completely sold out for our last night. So I decided that if we were going to have to go through the "hassle" of packing and moving, we better make it worth our while and go to our favorite resort - Poly!!
It wasn't as much trouble as I thought it might be, but we did have to use the switching day as one of our non-park days, and we had to get a cab to take us from Dolphin to Poly because Dolphin doesn't offer the resort-switching-luggage service. It cost about $20 for the cab, but we more than made up for that by being able to take the Magical Express back to the airport.
Anyway, we were able to get one night and two days at the Poly out of it, and that was fabulous for us, because we LOVE the Poly (just can't afford to stay very often). As soon as we arrived in our room (got our request of Tokelau, third floor - overlooking quiet pool), we all decided that next time we will scrimp and save for a longer time just so we can be at the Poly for a whole week!! Don't get me wrong, we also really enjoy the Dolphin and have stayed there 3 or 4 times, but there's just something about the Poly that makes us happy!!
On one hand it is not a hassle. Bell Services picks up your luggage and takes it to the new resort. They do this all the time. You don’t need to go with your luggage…. In fact you can’t.
On the other hand you have to get to your new hotel in order to check in. So, if you’re staying at POR (for example) you will need to catch a bus to someplace, and then catch another bus to the Poly. If you have to wait 20 minutes for a bus on one or both of the legs, it can feel like you have wasted a good part of the day.
Once you get to the new hotel, you’ll have to spend some time on the check in process as well. Odds are your baggage won’t be available until later that evening, so make sure to grab what you need for the day beforehand.
I think split stays are worth it, if you go with the right mindset and plan. For example if I were going from POR to Poly, I would want to make that an MK day. That way if you spent a fair amount of time on the buses just getting to the Poly, and then additional time checking in, you wouldn’t have to wait on the buses again just to get to that day’s park. Once you check in, you just go upstairs to the monorail and catch a quick ride to MK. That ride to MK will feel very relaxing, and it might even validate your desire to stay at the Poly.
A lot of this is mindset.
If you are the type of person who is always looking at the clock and thinking, we could be doing this or we could be doing that, then a split stay may not be for you.
On the other hand, you have this feeling when you first check into your hotel on vacation, on any vacation. It is relaxing and pleasurable. If you go with the right frame of mind, you’ll get to experience that twice.
Thanks!! Know what you mean about the kids :thumbsup2...Fortunately for our group the kids will have all had a recent trip! My kids are all grown up and I'm waiting for my granddaughter to be old enough to go...but my friends will take their munchkins before our moms only trip - none of us would feel right going without the kids trip first!! :cool1:
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Y'all are going to love it! I think DH and I have spoiled our kids.....after staying CL TPV, they think there is no other way:rotfl: And to be very honest, it will be hard for me to downgrade after our great room and view! CL is certainly a convenience and not a bargain....a convenience that I quickly fell in love with:lovestruc DD4 told us several nights ago that she wants to go back to WDW and stay at the hotel with the pretty red roof and white walls....but of course she wants a room that she can see fireworks from.....guess DH and I will be saving money!
Have a great time! And happy planning!
We love the Dolphin and Poly too! We're doing a split stay in July because we can't decide between the 2. Plus the teacher discount at the Dolphin is a huge incentive! Glad you had a great trip!
