ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Hi there. I asked a month or so ago about the best way to get to DTD. A few people suggested taking a taxi, so that's the plan. I have a DD3 that will be with us, and my brother in-law will have his twin 1 1/2yr olds (in a 2nd taxi). Will they allow us to ride in the taxi's without using a carseat? And is it a fairly safe/quick ride? Does anyone have any experience with this.

Thanks so much!

Sorry to bug, but does anyone know the answer to this question? Thanks :D

I would have to say No...BUT they may have Taxis with car seats. Afterall, it is Disney. Maybe try asking on the transportation board?

You can take the bus, it just does take a while. I'm sorry I could not be of more help.

I was going to suggest this as well as I've never seen a car seat in a taxi. They may have car seats in the larger taxis but I'm not sure either.

Hi MsStinkerBelle:wave2:

Where have you been hiding? I see you have a new ticker?

Hiya! :goodvibes I'm still recovering from a Halloween trip out to Disneyland and a stay at the Grand Californian. We were going to go to WDW for Easter but DD11 was so taken with the original Enchanted Tiki Room that we're staying at the Poly next year for the 4th of July.

Since we're returning to the Poly I should be on the board more. :goodvibes

We are getting super-excited for our upcoming trip! We really need to get away. Have never stayed at the Poly before. I want to be sure to remember to do the torch lighting ceremony. Only a little over two weeks to go!

I am so with you. Just a few short days until my first stay at the Poly. I too want to try and see the torch lighting ceremony. I think experiencing it will be so awesome. Kind of lik seeing the parasol parade at the GF.

While I'm still a long way out (4 months), we did just buy our Flights last night. That atleast makes it feel closer. Im more excited for my honeymoon than the actual ceremony! LOL.

For all those leaving in less than a week, have a safe and amazing trip!

Quick question, need advice. We will be staying at the Poly in a couple of weeks. 3 nights, 2 adults, 2 young kids, garden view. Which longhouse should I request and why?

Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

My sister just stayed there 1st time and she requested Samoa. She liked it because it was near pools and easy to get refills for soda and breakfast items(I guess that was at Captain Cooks).

I'm going to Poly soon, which building is close to restaurants, and quiet, nice?
easy access to monorail? don't really care aobut pool.

Can you swim these days? is it cold there?

I just returned from the Poly. I was there 11/12 -- 11/20. It was WONDERFUL!!!! I want to be back there so much right now (well, not really -- too crowded) ;)

I stayed in Niue and it was quiet, so close to Captain Cooks and the GCH. I had the first floor (there are no elevators in that building). It was quiet and close to everything. Even walking to the TTC only took about 4 minutes.

I am so close to booking my flights. I think I finally found some I like and the price is right.

You have a lot on your plate...the holidays, a wedding and a Disney Trip! Before you know it you will be in paradise :beach:

The Torch Lighting Ceremony was on our agenda when we were there in August as well. Unfortunately we didn't realize it didn't run all nights (only on the nights with a Luau) and the 2 nights we had slated to watch (last 2 we were there) there wasn't one! :headache: So if this is a must do make sure you plan to check it out on a night there is one. :lmao:
*note* we go back in Jan so you can be SURE we won't miss it this time. It's on the agenda for day 1!!

Thanks so much fir this info! I had no idea that there was not a luau every night, let alone that there was not a torch lighting ceremony every night! I'll inquire when we check in.

The Luau is dark on Sunday and Mondays which means no torch lighting on those nights. But check the activity guide when you check in to be sure :thumbsup2

Your welcome. You can bet we won't let that happen again, LOL!

Yes it was a Sun/Mon that we had planned on eve activities at the resort. I wasn't sure if the days ever varied, good to know it's always a Sun/Mon. :thumbsup2

Can't hardly wait to board the plane on Friday day after Thanksgiving. Disney here we come hope their are plenty of Christmas decorations to see. HA!

Cheers!

I am chiming in to join in the Poly excitement! Well, we've decided to postpone our usual February Disney trip this year for next year - but the reason is that I'll be paying off my credit card, and then next year we're going to the Poly! :cloud9: I am SO excited. I've been wanting to stay at the Poly forever. Knowing this actually takes away most of my sadness at not being in Disney in a few months. :wizard:

We have had to postpone our annual trip due to various reasons, but at least you have a trip in your future. Planning is half the fun :cool1: Do you really have that many cats??? DH is allergic, so no cats for us. Although DD begs at least once a month for a kitten :sad1:
