Almost Disaster at BCV

Interesting yes, surprising no. A lot of us have invested a very substantial portion of our hard earned money for a piece of this "deluxe" resort, so of course anything that threatens its value is bound to draw attention.

I had a not-so-swell BCV trip last fall and with all the problems listed here, I'm convinced that we do have a quality problem at this resort.

I'm trying not to worry about it too much though. After all, resale values assure us that we can exit DVC and recover our investment. And personally, I believe that this is a hotel management problem, and it is only a matter of time before better managers are put at the helm of BCV.

As a manager you can relate to this. Something I overheard my manager tell someone.

"Mistakes I can understand and doesn't upset me, but the number of mistakes do and concerns me."

It is unusual to see these numbers of mistakes for the same unit (DVC) being posted here. This usually indicates a quality control issue. Something like this in our company would be addressed post haste.

The General Manager of the YC/BC including the Beach Club Villas is Sam Penzula.

The Member Satisfaction Manager is temporarily Jackie Lueders (again :) ). The CM who replaced Jackie late last year has transferred to the Disney Cruise Line.

I would contact either Sam &/or Jackie with Beach Club Villa concerns.

Actually its Pensula.

Thank you for the correction. I was given the spelling twice by the CM I spoke to this afternoon. Maybe you work at WDW or maybe you know the GM, but thank you.

pmcpmc--while it may not be a big issue to have phone calls going to the "guests" in the studio side, it was to me for privacy reasons. I had some personal calls come through and I didn't appreciate the guests hearing the messages and knowing my business. As these guests are ones I wouldn't EVER ask anybody to take on a trip in the future, it made things uncomfortable as I was trying to avoid them for the duration. So yes, for me on this particular trip them receiving my personal messages was something that did make for an even more miserable time. I KNOW I will continue to have great trips as I have had so many up to now!! I just hope nobody else has to deal with people not doing their jobs in the future!!

To All: It's not that some unfortunate things happened, but that so many of them happened and they weren't handled appropriately. I don't feel 3 requests to fix the same problem should be required in any situation. And the problems kept adding up each day. Each trip of mine something has gone "wrong" but rarely do I feel it's a case of complaint, just timing. I don't mention these in surveys or complaints to anybody at the resort or DVC in general. This trip it seemed like everybody who "touched" my room from the front desk to bell services to housekeeping couldn't seem to do their jobs. Thank you for the names for mailing letters as I feel that should help them to identify the areas that need additional attention and maybe make some changes in training so nobody else has to deal with these problems in the future.

Manning--your quote says it all!! :hyper: Your manager hit the nail on the head!!

SimbaCub, I understand about you wanting your phone calls to a 2-bedroom unit going to the LR phone, not the studio phone.

I've been thinking about it :). Someone mentioned they only call out. Well, we call out, but we also leave the phone number for the person watching our house at home, & they have been known to call us. I've had pin trading friends contact me while on vacation at WDW. We have friends & relatives in the Orlando area. So we do receive phone calls as well as make them. If I had children or elderly relatives or anyone in the second bedroom, I wouldn't necessarily want them receiving my incoming calls either.

JudithM: I had left the number with my vet too. My "guests from &^$$" in the studio have cats so it could have been a sad situation, imagine getting a call saying "Cat ill, please call. . ." not knowing it was for me!! :p Luckily, no vet calls this trip!!

I have been reading the posts concerning DVC and I too did have a unfortunate experience at the BCV. Unfortunately, this is my first post and it is not a positive one. We checked in on May 15 and I had made my reservations day by day at the 11th month mark, checkout was May 22. I did this to have the best chance of getting a 2 bedroom unit with the second bedroom having two beds, non smoking since I have asthma, and a room in a quiet section. We were taking our son, his wife and the two Granddaughters, ages 1 and 2 1/2, who do not sleep well with alot of noise. We checked in around 2:30 and were assigned room 201. I asked about the location and the cast member said he did not know where it was. Upon getting to our room, the room was dirty and there was even popcorn on the living room floor. The view was of the front entrance to the Beach Club. Is this what we get in booking at the 11th month mark? I called down to the front desk and politely requested a room with the second bedroom having two beds. I was told there was none available, but was moved to room 241, which did have a great balconey and the area was quiet. This room as well was dirty. The bathroom floors were dirty and full of hair. I cleaned it myself. One of the chairs at the island was broken and someone's child had used the furniture for drawing as there was ink all over the upholstered pieces. After I got home, I did call DVC and asked about the second room with two beds. I asked since this was what I reserved, should I have received this. They said YES, that when folks make their reservations if none are available at the time, you are told right then. We did still have a wonderful time. I am really not a complainer. We have been DVC members siince 1998 and own at the BWV and BCV. This was not one of the better rooms and it is unfortunate considering the money we pay, housekeeping has to improve!
