Allison's MAW/GKTW Pre-Trip Report ***1/27 TRIP REPORT STARTED***

:jumping1: Got good news X's 2 today!!!

My husband is active duty military and has been experiencing health issues recently. The dr's have put him on limited duty. When the papers were submitted, they stated it would need to go before the medical board to get approved. So then we were in limbo if he would get approved. (the case worker confused us:confused3) Anywaye found out today his limited duty was approved!!!! YAYAYAYAY!! (We have been worrying he would be out of the military and then we wouldn't have health insurance to cover Allison's treatments not to mention his and the other 3 kiddos)

The 2nd bit of good news~~~ My best friend is meeting us during Alli's wish trip!! She lives in Pensacola so we don't see eachother but once a year or so!! Alli is so excited!!:dance3:

Aw, big Yay for the double dose of good news!! :goodvibes:cool1: Glad to hear that hubby's limited duty was approved. And that is fantastic that you'll be able to meet up with your friend during this trip.

LOL, I have mapped out all the Walmarts/Targets (which there is one up the road on 192 too from GKTW) in the area. Let me know if you need any recommendations for food or anything in the area. :)

Hmm... I've never flown AirTran so I can't offer any help with them. I was hoping you would've said JetBlue cuz I've flown with them before.

Curious if anyone has seen a tinkerbell character at Disney??? Would love forAlli to meet her and get a picture. If so, where does she hang out????2:confused: tia

Hi there!

I am just getting caught up with some trip reports...glad to see you out here! I see you have asked a lot of your questions here and on the main thread and received a lot of answers there. I have never flown AirTran either, so can not comment about their luggage policy. But on the packing front...I pack in gallon ziploc bags...a compete outfit for each person each day, get all the air out (think space bags...) it is a time saver and space saver...also a challenge for me as a"pooh" sized person...I have been known to use two gallon bags!:rotfl: Also, remember that you will have a washer and dryer and laundry detergent and stuff in the villa...if you have allergies and need special detergents, you may want to ask about that or bring your own. I see that you mentioned MVMCP...have you asked your wish organization about tickets to this? Some will do a "special" event (all are different)...and since these tickets are not included in the normal stuff you will get from GKTW.

Keep asking questions here and on the main thread...folks are always willing to help!

Lynn

I will be contacting our Wish coordinator tomorrow to ask about the MVMCP. Thanks for the info. I need to ask her a couple questions anyway.

I am going to "practice" packing for Thanksgiving to visit my parents.:wizard:

Our weekend started with a surprise visit from my Mom friday evening. The kids were so thrilled. I got the "No one told me she was coming" speeck from Alli. However, I didn't even know. (She doesn't live in the same state and had gone to visit my brother so my nephew could go to the neurologist)

Saturday, Jakes football team played in the Regional play-offs.. And the WON!! On to the next round. If this keeps up, we will be spending most the night before our big trip at the state championship! Long drive home to meet the limo basically.

Today, Allison will get to see her movie!! We will finally be able to see the latest Harry Potter film! We are going to surprise her. Can't wait to see her face!! :goodvibes

You are on a roll with the good news this week!!!:banana::banana:

How did the movie surprise go?

Way to go Jake!! :)

Hi!!

I was at GKTW last APril - please let me know if you have any questions!

Dont stress over planning. You will enjoy yourselves even if you dont have every outfit and stuff planned!!

I'd call/email GKTW to ask about the highchair and stuff - they may have it there. It was an AMAZING PLACE!!!!

The pools, horseback riding, choo choo train, ice cream - all incredible!!!!! Make sure you spend time enjoying it!!!:rotfl:

You can meet her and the other fairies in Toontown.

Here is a very old (almost 2 years ago) picture of our family with Tinkerbell. Her meet and greet is called Pixie Hollow.

I have been reading your trip report. You are going to have a great time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family

You are going to have a wonderful time with your beautiful family!!!

I see where someone answered the Tinkerbell question. Pixie Hollow is a great place to meet all of the fairies. Also, at night during the fireworks, Tink flies through the sky from the top of the castle and down off the left (if you are looking at the castle front).

We'll be at DW some of your trip! It is a great time to go!

Hello!!

We just got home from our "mini" visit with family for thanksgiving. Everyone had a good time....but we are all sooo glad to be home!! Jakes football team made it to regionals, so he is there now and we will go see the game later this evening. We actually cut our visit short so he could make it to practice Wednesday and back early today for the game!

Hard to believe we leave soon. Alli has started counting down...and is packing!!:rotfl2: Everyone is getting so excited!

I also found out before we left, the Disboutiquers' Big Givers want to share some "Pixie Dust" pixiedust:with our family!! How exciting!!:goodvibesI haven't told Alli. Should I???? I thought about letting it be a surprise since it's such short notice for them?!?! Afterall i didn't find this group until a month from our trip!! Which I am so glad that I did!!
Any word from the Wish coordinators about MVMCP?
They said she could use the expense check toward it, or ask GKTW if they have tickets available. Not sure about GKTW????

We certainly hope to enjoy it!! Allison has looked at the map and saw a spa?? Do they really have one?? She got her packet today from GKTW. It made it feel REAL for her!!

I called today and they said they don't have high chairs, their suggestion is to stop by Walmart. We will make it work somehow!

Thank you! Can't wait to surprise her! Love the picture. Is your daughter wearing a shirt with the fairies on it??

That's awesome. Where would you recommend sitting to see that?? I think her and Jonathon would get a kick out of that. I think he has picked up on her "liking" of the fairies!!

Thanks everyone!! Hope you had a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!!

Questions......

We would like to plan something "special" for the kids. (Not that the whole trip isn't special) We checked with our MAW coordinator and neither are things they provide. SO....

We are trying to decide which would be our best bet.....

MVMCP :santa: or CHARACTER DINING ::MickeyMo ????

If dining, where???

Looking for as many ideas as possible!!

:thanks:

IF you have time to take fuil advantage, MVMCP is a GREAT way to get some extra Disney Park time...

PLUS - the magic button works for character lines...which are a HUGE hit at the Christmas Party...

I love, love, love that party!

But...it is also pretty expensive...so you want to make sure it is worth it before you put forth the expense.

We have never done MVMCP because it doesn't start until so late and my kids are headed for sleepy time shortly thereafter. The cost for our family -- About 240 extra doesn't make sense for us.

We do love character dining -- breakfast and lunch are our favorites. We love Tusker for breakfast at AK, lunch at Crystal Palace at MK and lunch at Hollywood and Vine at HS. For my DD7 we love Cinderella's Royal Table for lunch. If you are interested you need to call ASAP -- reservations get booked out 180 days.

We went to MVMCP once and it was one of the most special times we have ever had in the MK. We were a group from 2-adult, and we had a GREAT time!! We made sure we had a low key day, lots of swimming in the morning and then an afternoon rest time and then at the park by 4pm (I think they still let you in early, but Im not 100% sure they still do).

The MK was super dooper decked out with snow on Main St, giving out hot chocolate and cookies - characters dressed up - soooo FUN!!! Plus after about 9pm the park emptied out and we had the characters and rides to ourselves!! The toddler napped and then woke up again and had more fun!!!!

Maybe talk to the girls and see which they'd rather do??? Either will be a blast!!

All I can say is WOW! I too am a Navy wife who had some stressful pregnancies...but they seem like a walk in the park compared to what you had to deal with! What an incredible mom you are! I have 3 tips for you after reading your PTR! First, Pixie Hollow has one of the LONGEST lines in the park. It is located in toontown and the map says it opens @ 10, but actually it opens @ 9:45, so get there right before that and you will be one of the first in line! :) Second, if you watch Wishes from the Rose Garden (look for it on your map in the day light) Tinkerbell flies right over your head! Lastly, we went to MVMCP and we got military tickets @ the MK ticket counter for 1/2 price. I hope you have an amazing time with your beautiful family!
Go Navy!

I did MVMCP several years ago and it was a lot of fun. DF and I recently did the Halloween party this year (it was a blast!!!) and I think I am going to tell him we just have to go to the Christmas party. :rolleyes1

As a previous person posted, if the finances are ok, then go for the party (those tickets are really pricey when you are buying for more than 2). Otherwise a character dining would be fun too. :)
