I became allergic a few years ago all of a sudden, had been suffering from a throat infection the previous week and was prescribed antibiotics as usual. I had worked a long day at work got home just before midnight and felt itchy and noticed lumps on my tummy and upper legs so I thought about it for a while as DH was at work on nights. I then called NHS direct to get some advice and then the nurse called back and by the time we had gone through a few questions she said she knew what needed to happen and as I was by myself said she would call an ambulance as an emergency
as she didn't want me to drive myself. Once the ambulance arrived phoned DH and he rushed the 26 miles to the hospital and I then had to have several drugs to counteract the allergy and was kept in for a few hours while they did blood test etc and made sure I didn't need anything else!
Anyway after that I relaised my Maternal Grandfather became allergic to penicillin at about age 20 and so did my Mum, so guess it was only time before I did!
