Hello all,

New member here. I have not been to DW since 2014. Planning a solo trip for Nov 18-22. Anyone know which All-Star resort has had the most recent room renovations?

Also, I am not renting a car. Is it cheaper to take a cab or Uber/Lyft from MCO and back?

Thanks.

The Lyft/Uber price will depend on the time of your flight arrival since surge pricing has been enacted. No idea about cab prices but easy to google if no one else responds. Just a FYI, Mears Connect bus charges about $16.00 o/w.

They have all had fairly recent renovations. The renovations began at Movies, then Music, and last to be completed was Sports. I stayed in a newly renovated room at Music in September 2019 and I believe Sports finished either late 2023 or early 2024.

Sports was the last to be completed.

If you plan to use the food court I would check the renovation schedule as it seems some AllStars have their food courts under construction.

Movies is down right now but I believe the timeline is for it to be done sometime in October? Can't find if the other two are going to be going into refurbs after but I don't think it would be until January because of the busy season.

I don't know ~ even though I head to Sports next month ... I avoid the resort food courts. Just wanted OP to check all his parameters.

* Edited out timeline for Movies as it seems to be going way over projection. Was supposed to be complete end of July but now they say mid-October. Does not bode well for the other two if they are next ...

So if it is Music now I assume Sports will be next? I feel like they never give much notice to avoid folks trying to move to another resort.

I'm at Movies in November, so counting on it being done so I don't have to deal with the soda fountain issue that was Pop Century a few weeks ago. I am trying to switch to Pop but Disney booking/IT is you know doing its thing again.

Movies was supposed to be completed at the end of July, but is still going on. Soda fountain lines were often 10 deep (as only two) and just the one mug washing station. Ice cream also unavailable.

10 deep? One night at Pop the line was from the open drink station through the open part of EP through the gift shop through the lobby out the resort doors. And the one for the petal bar was just as nuts. Poor people with their refillable mugs.

Thanks for all the replies. Since Sports is the most recent renovation, that is where I decided to stay. I was told by a Disney reservation rep that Sports food court is currently under renovation with a mid-September completion date.

Edit - May have received some bad info on the food court renovation. Google says it's the gift shop that is being renovated. The Movies food court is what appears to be currently under a renovation.

No refurb currently in End Zone Food Court.

Sport Goofy Gifts & Sundries is being refurbed, but will remain open.

I'm pretty sure the cabs are more expensive. We usually take Lyft for around $36-40 for two people. I have even gotten a larger vehicle for that price (I never choose the smallest vehicle).

When we arrive, I check the Uber/Lyft prices to get to WDW. If it is high, I just go to the Mears podium and book the shuttle.

Bless their heart. At least Disney is very consistent in one thing ~ their phone reps giving bad information.

That all depends on time of day and demand as Uber and Lyft use surge pricing. We usually check both when we land and quite a few times both were $30-$40 more than a cab. But in general, yes both will be less expensive than a cab. And Mears has a set price that is pretty low.

I’m at Movies now. The lines for the mugs are so bad that they’ve been turning the sensor off to keep things moving… which causes some people to fill anything and everything, including pop corn buckets. I’ve started walking to Music instead (it’s not much further from my room but requires me to cross the parking lot).

This is my first stay at the AS since I was a kid in 1996. Now I remember why we/ I never went back - the walls are the thinnest I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve stayed in plenty of dumps. The person next to me has some type of machine playing… guessing it’s generated notice that helps them sleep but it’s loud and keeps me up. I can hear somebody cough all the time too. Meanwhile, the second my alarm goes off in the morning tbey’re banging on the wall. Ugh….

Sports and Music both have identical food courts. Looks like they were renovated in the mid-2010s whereas Movies looks similar (some updates obviously) to Sports in 1996 - so guessing it was never updated?
