All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Hi Sara,

Are you flying down, or driving? If driving then I would consider buying a case of bottled water instead of ordering it through garden grocer and bring it down with you. Either way, you will definitely want to purchase the bottled water. It's probably going to be the most important item on your list. Of course, with the dining plan you will be given a refillable mug and can use it as many times as you want in the food court. It's just nice to have the extra bottles on hand in the fridge without needing to walk to the food court for a refill. Plus, it's nice to stick a cold bottle in a park bag (especially if you can place it so that you can feel it through your bag when heading out into the heat).

I've never stayed in a suite so I'm not sure about the utensils, etc. I am guessing they do have some of those items, but not sure which. Have a great trip!:goodvibes:goodvibes

The kitchette in the suite is supplied with utensils of plasticware, dishes, cups, napkins, etc. and is replenished each day by mousekeeping. We stayed there two years ago and found it to be very impressive and comfortable. Enjoy:banana:

Does anyone know what building the preferred connecting rooms are in? Also has anyone ever had a problem getting connecting rooms even though it was listed on reservation? I have read about horror stories on other threads.

ALL the preferred rooms are in Calypso. Last time we were there we had a connecting room on the third floor at the back of the building. There are very, very few connectors in those 2 buildings( that majority of rooms are family suites) if you really need one you will most likely be in a standard room.

I don't know if there are any connecting preferred rooms at Music. The All Stars have 16 sets of connecting rooms per floor but the connecting rooms at Music in Calypso and Jazz were used for the suites. There are 192 family suites in 4 buildings on 3 floors would be 16 per floor. I don't think there are any connecting rooms in those buildings that were not used for suites.

I've stayed in one so there are a few.

On my reservation it states star music preferred
special request: adjoining rooms
Please Note:connect rooms grte for families
I'm assuming this means connecting rooms granted for families:confused3
My question was will it be granted once I get to the resort. Everything is great on paper.

Adjoining in Disney speak means rooms that are side by side. NOT attached with the interior door.

Connecting is with the interior door that opens between 2 rooms.

They never guarantee anything and it clearly states that in the fine print on the reservation. The only situation that is ALMOST a guarantee for connecting rooms is when the kids out number the adults. It becomes a liability issue for the resort.

The prefered rooms at ASMu are in the first two buildings by the main building. As for adjoining or connecting rooms I guess you have to realize that there are only 2 prefered buildings so there are going to be less adjoining rooms to go around. Like the previous person said those connecting rooms are going to first be assigned to 1 adult with over 4 kids and then assigned to others after that. Adjoining does not mean there is a door inbetween the rooms.

Can someone tell me how firm the beds are at ASMusic?

I stayed at a Best Western last weekend near Philadelphia and the bed was so firm I felt like I was sleeping on the floor. My back doesn't like a bed quite that firm and I'm used to my pillow top here at home.

Thanks,
Pat

Each rooms beds differ. If your bed is too firm call the front desk and they can either change the mattress or look for another open room for you. I have seen the carts with matresses to change out often at the resorts.

I never would have thought to ask to have the mattress changed. We endured a 2 week stay at POP with mattress that were so soft it was like sleeping on a giant pillow. We actually sunk down into the mattress and had difficulty turning over. It might have been the only vacay that I've ever taken that I couldn't wait to get home.

I've never had an uncomfortable bed at ASMu....they seem to be very middle of the road in terms of firm/soft. In fact, usually it take me a few nights to get comfortable in a hotel bed but that has never happened at ASMu.

I've read far more reports on the Dis of folks not getting a booked preferred room at ASMu then I have of families with just 2 adults and more kids not getting connecting rooms.

Thanks so there is hope. :) I guess I will have to wait and see and go with the flow. I will hope for connecting, but prepare for adjoining. I will not let our room situation ruin our vacation.

I have only had problems with a matress at WDW once and that was at pop. I just had extra pillows delivered to endure it. I have however seen them switching out matresses often. If it was so bad I was in pain I would definitely call and ask what they could do for me though. I have stayed in all but the 50's building at POP and can vouch that no two matresses there are the same. At ASMu, Sports, and Movies I have only stayed in the same buildings and the beds seemed about the same and I liked them.

Thanks for the feedback on the beds. I never would have thought to ask for a replacement!!! Good to know they are so accommodating. :cool1:

I had read on here that there are lockers down by the pool. Can anyone tell me how much they cost to use? We are planning on swimming for awhile and then hitting DTD the day we get there and if our room isn't ready I was thinking I could put our wet stuff in a locker until we get back that evening.
Thanks,
Pat

Has anyone ever ordered food from Amazon and had it shipped to the hotel? It seems like it would be a lot cheaper but I wasn't sure if I could. Can I just send it to the main address and have it say something like Hold for ....?

Thanks! :)

I was wondering this too. I'm trying to figure out the cheapest & easiest way to have diapers & baby supplies sent ahead of us.
