We were there in May and they did have hair wrapping but because of all the rain it was in Melody Hall

Hi, all!

Just back this morning from a week long stay at ASMu.

And I must say... I was really very pleasantly pleased at the whole experience. I'm a pretty luxury resort kinda girl. We got snowed out of Chicago when we tried to go home in January 08 and ended up in an unplanned two night stay at ASSp - it was not pleasant. It was all cheerleaders and us. The rooms hadn't been renovated yet. We had a poolside room. The busses were awful. I booked this trip on the 7 for 4 deal as a quick and cheap trip with a friend... but I was really kinda dreading it. ;)

So here I am at the end of my week and really - it was great. I swear. I missed room service and laundry service, but got by fine without it. The room was great. I got the King room I requested (just me and the kid on this trip). I booked a standard room, but requested a short walk to busses and a quiet room. We got the backside of Jazz 2. Overlooking a courtyard. It was perfect! Close to both pools, the bus stop, the food, court, and most importantly - QUIET!

We shared busses with the other All Stars except to/from Magic Kingdom. Each AS resort had their own bus to that park. It was never a problem at all though. We stood on some busses, of course, but not anymore than I've stood on busses on other trips. One every other trip I've taken, I've had at least one blood-pressure-rising bus fiasco... but everything went great on this trip. There seemed to be a bus waiting almost every time we walked to a stop. I'd almost say that it's actually better that they share a bus. As soon as one pulled away, another one pulled up.

I'm not sure what else to comment on... there were towels at the pool, everyone got towel animals except us (LOL - the problem with values - everyone puts their towel animals in their windows, so my kid KNEW that other people were getting them), the food court was acceptable, the poolside concrete was FLAMING hot so watch out for tiny toes burning, a Mai Tai is $8.83 before tip.

Any questions? :thumbsup2

Did you check out the pool games and movies?
How was the food court?
I don't eat the food court for breakfast - just every once in awhile for a late dinner or a cheap bottle of wine.
Was there music througout the resort?
I'm scared of getting stuck in the country area and having to listen to country all week! I'd much prefer broadway or jazz.

- Yes, we were there most afternoons for the games and the start of the movie. We participated in giant beach ball. They had bingo, dancing, etc. The leaders were very perky, LOL. They had a DJ booth playing pop music all afternoon and until the movie started.

- Food court was okay. Got kinda repetitive towards the end of the week because we ate there most meals. Nothing was really stand out great, but I was pleased that they had the option of actual vegetables with some options. Vegetables are hard to come by at Disney World counter service. ;) I was also happy to see they had a new sweet tea machine that actually dispensed actual sweetened tea. I'm wondering if that's available at the other resorts now or has always been at All Stars? I'm hoping it's at all the resorts now.

- I don't recall noticeable music anywhere except around the main pool. And that was basically your Radio Disney type stuff.

Question for all the ASMU experts -- from what I've seen, the Broadway section looks like where we would like to stay. Aside from mentioning it when I make reservations, are there any other things I need to mention (certain floor, certain area, etc)?

I know just requesting doesn't mean I'll get it, but at least I'll have tried :thumbsup2

We stayed in Broadway on our last trip. One thing to remember is that one end of it is closest to the parking lot but separated from it by a garden area (which we called "little Central Park") so that really cuts out the noise from the parking lot. The other end is quite close to the Piano Pool, but it is definitely quiet compared to the Calypso Pool. The back sides of the buildings all face onto shrubberies -- veeerrrry quiet there.

We really liked the theming in Broadway and it quickly became our favourite section. It looks more like DHS than like the rest of ASMusic.

We always prefer to be on the 1st floor at ASMusic -- we like being able to walk right out of our room without having to traverse the balconies and take the stairs or elevators. Since all of the rooms have been refurbed, they're all the same (but only Calypso and Jazz have the privacy curtains by the washroom area)

Hi...
Love AS Music. We were there at the end of last year. Rooms appeared to have been recently refurbished. We were lucky enough to have been given a room at the Jazz Inn (top floor), so we had the privacy curtain which was a bonus. We're hoping for the same kind of luck this year when we visit! As far as themeing goes, the Broadway section is indeed cute. The big yellow cab out front was neat! Great picture opportunity! I also like the country and western theme! But that section is the farthest from the main building. Quite honestly, it'll only take you 10mins (max) to get from the country and western section to the main building. So, it's really not that bad. You'll have a good time at Disney World regardless of the room you're assigned to! Have fun!

Im glad you brought up the taxi. When we were there last week, the chevy was not at the rock in. Similarly, I dont remember seeing the taxi..

We always say that Country is the farthest from the main building, but when we were there in Feb. I started thinking that there really isn't any difference. If you always walk past the Piano Pool when going from Rock, Broadway or Country, it's pretty much the same distance, I think. Taking the sidewalk by the parking lots from Broadway or Rock wouldn't be any faster.

Either way, it's still only 10 mins to the main building, and I always enjoyed that walk -- so many happy people to see along the way. And I've heard it said that Country is one of the quietest sections of any WDW resort.

We are just back from a wonderful week at Music. Our room was in the Broadway section. 3rd floor overlooking the street. I thought it was a really nice location. a bit of a walk to the food court and buses but it was quiet at night and close to the piano pool. Overall the resort was nice. The values are not my favorite ( the Swan/Dolphin is) but at Music we could have 2 rooms and that was really nice! I'll try to answer any questions.

Can anyone compare the food at the food court to Pop for me? We were really happy with the different choices at Pop and I just don't seem to see as much at ASMusic. Maybe I am just not seeing it all??? Any thoughts? :goodvibes

We stayed at Music from the 12th to the 19th and it was perfect. We had such a great stay, and perfect mousekeeping all nine nights.

The taxi and chevy were not there that I saw which was kind of a bummer.

We were in Bldg 4, Rock Inn, so last building from Country Fair. I loved that location! The walk to the food court was really nothing (of course I am now used to SSR and OKW so nothing at Music phases me) and to be so close to the Piano pool was great. They play that nice jazz music back there and its quiet. The main pool is very hectic now but the games and movies are fun. But the make up of that resort has changed. I can't say I'd call it the quiet value now, although in those back sections away from the action it still is.

As for the food court, it may not have quite the selection of Pop's but our food was always good. I loved the station with the taco salads and quesedillas in particular. And everything else we had was also good. Other than not having all the "mom's specials" that Pop does, I didnt' see much difference. And I much prefer having Music's food court away from the gift shop. Hate tha set up at Pop. So I'd rank the food court quality as good as Pop's and the selection almost as varied.

Pool games included hoola hoop contests, musical rings (same as chairs but they had rings for the kids to get one foot in) Trivia contest (won that one myself lol) and they would blow up this HUGE ball for the kids and adults to play with. The movies were fun but very crowded. Somedays it was set, other days they had a vote for what movie would be shown. They played very loud music which we loved (love my disco) but my inlaws hated that. So we spent a lot of time at the piano pool for them.

Busses were great, didn't even come close to sharing often. We used those busses for nine solid nights and days and never had more than a 10 minute wait going to a park and never more than a 15 minute wait coming home. Usually it was much less.

I like Amy do not like Pop's food court and gift shop combination. It is just too much all in one place for me. The only food item we missed from Pop was the cheese cake. I did not see it at Music. Honestly we don't eat at the food court very often. We used WeGoShop and had them deliver food that we ate in the room or picnic by the pool. Much less $$$ and more relaxing to make a sandwich at rest time IMHO. For breakfast we had them pick up granola bars and little boxes of cereal. Again I think it is quicker and easier than the food courts and really more like what we would eat at home.

I missed the cheesecake too! Although the carrot cake at Music's food court made up for it. :cloud9:

I'll also add I loved the apple slices with carmel for a dessert. And I know Pop has these too, but you get so many desserts on the DDP so having that choice was really nice.

Another thing I'll mention is that the lines moved really fast at the food court and we never had a problem finding a table. We often ate at the dreaded morning rush and still got in and out fast. So that was nice. Last time I was at Pop, it was a total nightmare. Pop is so big, that one single food court just can't handle the crowds as well. All Star food courts don't have quite the selection of Pop's, but they don't have nearly the crowds.

I like that the Pop food court sells all the food. I don't like having to go to the gift shop and stand in another line for say a larger milk. But I did really like the made to order salad at Music-that was really good. And the food courts at ASMo & ASSp are close enough that you can walk over to those for a little more variety as well.

I guess Pop never bothered me because we didn't know any better. That was the first time we ever stayed onsite. We did think that maybe they could have had a few more tables though ;)! And you can't really tell from a map how close ASMO and ASSP are (at least I can't!) so maybe we will check their food courts out too! We usually eat lunch back at our hotel when we come back for a break. Thanks again for all your info

We're really looking forward to our 2nd Disney World vacation in about 4 months. When we were there last year, we had no problem with rowdy teens and chaperones who look the other way. Of course, we left right at the start of Pop Warner. So, I now read that there had been fights at the AS Resorts during Pop Warner last year?? OMG. Isn't that really dangerous and a MAJOR inconvenience for the other Disney guests? I'm all for Disney making a profit and all that, but at whose expense? This year, if my calculations are correct, we will not leave Disney till Pop Warner is well underway. I hope all will be well. For everyone.

If there are dis-ers out there who had stayed at the AS Resorts during Pop Warner in previous years, share your experience please... I will not change my travel dates just because of Pop Warner. However, I'd like to know how best to aviod a bad situation, while having a good time at Disney World.

That's what we did. All 3 food courts have some different offerings so you get at least the same variety as POP, if not more! The walk was no big deal and we thought it was fun just checking out all the giant icons at both Movies and Sports too. Great for pics! :thumbsup2
We liked POP well enough (stayed twice) but LOVE Music!! We just fell more 'relaxed' there. I think all those humongous words all over the bldgs at POP gave me headaches!!! :headache: Stayed in Jazz in at ASMu and it was lovely. :cloud9:
