All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

more! The walk was no big deal and we thought it was fun just checking out all the giant icons at both Movies and Sports too. Great for pics! :thumbsup2
:

We will make sure we walk to sports for sure. I know DS9 and DNephew8 would have much rather stayed at sports once they see it, but for our sanity, we NEED family suites!
Do they have the big icons at music too? :surfweb:

This might have already been asked, but I didn't see it...does ASMu have Laundry?
We'll be there for 10 days in September and might need to do a little load or 2 while we're there!

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Thanks for answering that! :thumbsup2

I have a 2nd question about laundry...I posted it elsewhere but I thought it couldn't hurt to post here too!

Does anyone know if the laundry facilities are indoors?

I had an experience offsite last year where the laundry machines were in the parking garage, and while they were sheltered from the weather, it still made it difficult to dry clothes in a dryer that was expsed to 100% Florida Humidity!

Seems like it being it's own little building next to the pool area, don't know if it was enclosed ie doors that close and AC, or if it was open cabana style to the pool.

Yes, there are two totally enclosed laundry buildings per All-Star resort. FYI, you'll need to do the drying cycle twice, so make sure you bring LOTS of US quarters :thumbsup2

The themeing at AsMu is a bit different. Instead of giant icons they have a beautiful fountain (think New Orleans) inside a small courtyard with landscaping that was so relaxing to walk through every morning and night to and from the World. It really put us in a great mood as we went back and forth to the Jazz building. One night we walked over to Broadway to see what it ws about - and to find the kids playground- and that areas themeing was really neat... a road paved down the middle with giant show 'posters' lighted in a neat way. We think we would enjoy that area as well. We liked Pop alot, but like a previous poster we also found it to be a bit loud in color at times. Definately festive. I think I like the main pool at Jazz (although our first choice was Asmo for the Fantasia pool- but was full so we went Music) with its 3 Caballeros theme in the middle. Those are large icons, but nothing like atAsmo.

I good tip I read on the DIS, and worked well last time...split 1 wash load into 2 dryers (if not crowded and available). Even though it will cost the same in the end, much shorter wait / you don't have to go back to start up a 2nd dry cycle again. I found they came out less wrinkled too.

204 days to go! I'm so excited to stay here again

Staying at AsMu in September - Family Suite. Are the suites available in all the sections (Country, Broadway, etc...) or are the suites just in one building?

As far as I know, some suites are in Jazz and some in Calypso. They look nice!

HI! Just curious where about in NJ are you from? I see you have a Cape May Information guide in your signature?

Can someone who has stayed in one of the family suites weigh in on the advantages? We have done Pop and AsMu, but would like to get more info on a suite as our family gets older, taller and we could all use a little more breathing room!

When we went in 2007, we had booked a regular room at Movies. After one night we found that it was WAY too small for us, 2 adults, and 2 kids. I upgraded to a suite, and it was FANTASTIC. Biggest upside was the separate room. DW and I had privacy, and didn't have to resort to changing in the bathroom. That's another thing, TWO bathrooms! No fighting! The kitchenette is a great addition if you need it. We were warming bottles sometimes, so it really helped.

I wouldn't ever THINK of going back to a regular room with the family after staying there.

We family of 5-kids were 9,7, & 5 when we went. We loved the family suite. The 2nd bathroom & 2nd TV were great. I also really liked having the 2nd closet and 2nd amoire for additional storage. I also like the kitchenette for additional storage. It was much easier to keep the suite "tidy" than a cramped regular room.

I liked having the couch & chair to sit on when we got back to the room from the parks too. And the bedroom has a sidechair as well-you don't normally get that in a standard value or moderate room. The bedroom also has a desk with a power strip so it made charging cameras and phones easy. And the bedroom has a queen bed vs full size in standard rooms.

We did use the fridge & microwave in the kitchenette.

Can anyone compare the food at the food court to Pop for me? We were really happy with the different choices at Pop and I just don't seem to see as much at ASMusic. Maybe I am just not seeing it all??? Any thoughts? :goodvibes

They have a great chicken quesadilla (sp).:thumbsup2

:wizard:/We are staying at ASMU suites in early sept. I have a couple of questions. When we stayed at ASMO a couple of times, there were some stands near the pool area where they had dis themed tatoos (temporary style for kiddos), hair braiding and wraps and I think I saw nails/airbrushing too???? Are any of these things done at ASMU? Are any of them still done at ASMO?? Just wondering???:wizard:

What is Celebrity Hall? It appears to be a small building at the edge of the parking lot between *** and ASMu. I saw it on the map of the resort.( Link is on previous page.)
