All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

I requested the Country Building because my oldest plays the fiddle and she really wants to stay in the building with the giant fiddle on it. I know it is a little further back and hopefully will be a little quieter. Has anyone else stayed in the Country building and can tell me about it?
TIA

We stayed there in September of 07 it is right by the piano pool but a long walk to Melody Hall when you are tired after opening and closing the parks:goodvibes. The rooms themselves are no different than Calypso. We like ASMU we will be there again in September.

Hello everyone!:)

We will be leaving in a little over 2 weeks now and I was wondering if they are still serving cherry coke at the food court or not? It's our favorite!

Im super excited for our upcoming trip. I've been a lurker on this board for years but just joined. It will be my daughter, myself, my sister & my niece on this trip. We arrive on June 11th - 18th & my 8 yr old daughter wants to request the Broadway section based on the photos of the theming we've seen. I would have wanted a preferred room in Calypso but the resort is apparantly booked solid that week. I'm very afraid of the crowds in the parks & just found out we will be there for the Star Wars thing which the 8 year old girls have ZERO interest in lol.

Im hoping the walk from Broadway isint too terrible, but I'm sure we will have an awesome time!!

We really loved the theming of Broadway and it's not a far walk at all.

As for the crowds--spring break crowds were unbelievable this year, but we honestly never noticed them. We were at rope drop every morning and heading out of the park, often on an empty bus, before lunch.

Here's a picture of Fantasyland almost an hour after park opening:

We did Buzz Lightyear, all of Fantasyland, ate breakfast at Main Street Bakery (no line) and were waiting at the rope for Frontierland to open so we could ride Big Thunder Mountain RR over and over again with no line. The longest we waited for anything all week was 20 minutes for Toy Story Mania. Get there at opening and you'll do everything you'd like to do.

Thanks for the answers about the pool activites. The activities are one of the reasons I wanted to stay there. We probably won't be going until next June, but DD is really excited now. Btw, I let her pick the value resort to stay in, and she immediately said, "the one with the guitar pool!"

Just got back from ASMu and I can't remember Cherry coke being served.
It was a great resort so anyone that is nervous, don't worry.
We stayed in Calypso 10 in a preferred room. It was on the ground floor level (great for late nights!) but I can tell you that it was loud sometimes (only at nights). The last couple of days that we were there, it was louder b/c there were a lot of school groups there and the kids were having a great time. If i can answer any questions, you can pm me or just post on the board!:goodvibes

Glad you had a great time. How were the buses?

Were you facing the pool? Just wondering if its always really loud if youre on the ground floor. I thought it might be a little easier with the kids (although we didnt have a problem w/ 3rd floor last time), but Id rather deal without the foot traffic if its super loud.

We are currently booked at GF however we've been looking at some other options to save $$ and one thing we are looking into is the ASMu suites. Can anyone tell me what building they are in? We are waiting for the discount codes to come out before making the final decision. With two preschoolers we felt the monorail was important but with the economy in the shape its in we are just trying to figure out if GF is really going to be worth the $$ in the long run. We are also looking at CSR since it has queen beds now however the suite would provide us with so much more room which is what is important to us (along with the bed size :rotfl: ). I think our kids would love ASMu also. Any info on the suites...good or bad I'd love to hear. I have only made it through part of this faq thread and I'll keep reading to get more info!
Wow! Really? From Grand Floridain to All Stars is worlds apart. Have you ever been to either to realize the difference?

We were facing the pool and it wasn't the foot traffic that was loud it was just the pool noise. As I said, there were a bunch of school groups and they were in the pool until closing time. To be honest, we were dead after the day at the park so where we heard the noise, it didn't keep us up or wake us up.
I can honestly say it was a great room location (Calypso 10 room 464) especially being on the ground floor.

Glad you had a great time. How were the buses?

The buses were great. We didn't wait a long time for any of them. The only time that we shared a bus was to Epcot in the morning. They must have done a pickup at ASSp and realized they could fit on a few more people, hence the sharing.
I was nervous about sharing buses and there were no problems at all.

Really?!? :scared1: Now I'm a little scared! We love Pop, but we were thinking about doing something different & even considered spending the extra to upgrade to CBR, but I'd rather spend that money on other things like the MNSSHP. :thumbsup2 I wasn't thrilled at what I was hearing from ASMo, but ASMu seemed better since the rooms have been remodeled. Now, I really need some feedback from people that have stayed at Pop & ASMu. Please help!!!:confused3
I need feedback too! I'm a pop girl through and through! (Except when I stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek)
I love Pop because of the theming, the food court, the great shop and the MUSIC!
Does AsMu play music around the resort like Pop?
I want to book for free dining, but Pop isn't available.
Will I be disappointed with All star music?
Convince me I'll love it!
The pool activities plus the theming seem like they'd be fun.

Hi ALL,

This will be my first stay at All-Star Music,

A few questions!

Do the resort have a poolside bar? or any place to get a "grown up" drink?:cloud9:

Are there hairdryers in the rooms? Coffee makers? {Standard room}

I've read that activities are a daily occurance around the resort and pool..Are they just for the kids? Can adults join in too !?:yay:

Can't wait for the Magic to happen in August!!!

Thanks alot!!

Hello! We just got back from a stay a few weeks ago. There is a poolside bar that has some great drinks and beer! There are hairdryers in the room, but not coffee makers. The activities are very kid oriented but adults can participate too! They have dance contests, water balloon toss, etc. The nightly poolside movie was great too but I recommend pulling up a seat early!! :goodvibes

Can I ask what your dates were? We planned for a pre-spring break trip n mid-March next spring, but our school system changed our dates to mid-April and I am so :scared1:. I feel like things will be so crowded we will not be able to enjoy our stay. We have always gone in October before... can you give any crowd info? TIA!!!

We were there April 25-May 2

The crowds were really not as bad as they can be. The World Cheerleading and Dance Competition was apparently going on so during the first weekend the hotel was swarming with too many chillins and not enough chaperones! But after that it was really nice... it was what I think most people would expect the crowds to be without it comparing to the crazy summer crowds. Does that make sense? :thumbsup2 Lets just say we had no crowd complaints... even the lines everywhere were not too long with a mix of fast pass usues. It was the last week of April so I'm not sure how it will differ for mid-April dates. I believe Easter weekend is pretty busy... Good luck! Hope that is somehow helpful! :wizard:

Invitation:

Hi - We leave on Saturday and I'm having last minute anxiety attacks. :rotfl:

This is my first real stay at a value and I'm a little confused by the apparent lack of bell services. I'm bringing a carry-on and and using DME. My checked luggage will still magically appear in my room, right? So what do I do with my carry-on while I go off to a park and probably won't have a room yet? Do they have a place I can leave it, but they just won't deliver it to my room? Do I just stop back and pick it up myself after I get back from the park?

I haven't stayed at All Stars yet, but I have stayed at Pop many times and I am assuming the process is the same.
Yes, if you use magical express (and use the bright luggage stickers provided), your bags will magically appear in your room.
Once you check in, you can go to bell services and leave your bag. They will give you a claim receipt for it and you can pick it up later on.
You can also do this the last day so you can enjoy the parks and come back to grab your bags and catch magical express. :wizard:
