All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

We are here now staying in the Calypso Building Family Suite with a pool view.

The noise is not a problem as we are not getting up until 11am each day and going to bed at midnight, so whilst the pool is noisy it hasn't been a problem for us. Also it's great to see what is going on and you have very easy access to everything.

If you are planning on rising early and going to bed before 10pm, then I suggest not getting a pool view.

The construction has now gotten annoying, I have made another post on this. Basically they have now closed off the entrance to the food court that is closest to Calypso building 10 and also some of the seating areas inside have been reduced to acccomodate the construction. They have had to move the coffee, toasters and microwave to another part of the food court and lost seating in the process. This has also created a walkway between the registers and the seating areas that is only 1 person wide, causing all kinds of people traffic jams. Not sure how long this is going on for, we are here till Thursday so will keep updating.

Again this is not bothering us as we are using the food court at "off-peak" times and haven't had a problem with lines or seating.

Family Suites are great especially if you only have a small family. We are only 3 people. DH and I have the main room and DS4 is sleeping on the pullout sofa. Having the extra space has been fanstastic for us as we just spent a week at DLR and the GCH in a small room, so this is a good break before we head to the Poly for a week next Thursday.

I have been very impressed with the ASMu and could have probably done the whole stay here and given the Poly a miss. However I think that's only because we are in the Family Suite. It's like a small apartment with a kitchenette, so it has been very relaxing. We are not spending huge days in the parks rather just a few hours each day in the afternoon so having the space at the hotel was important to us.

HTH

I know I have seen it on here but can not find it now that I need it. . .ggrrr.

Can someone who is an ASMu fount of knowledge tell me if all of Jazz is now preferred location? I'm looking at the map and am fairly certain Calypso is all preferred? How about building 3 or 8 (Rock or Broadway?) preferred?
I would really like a room on the "back side" closer to parking then pool?

Does that make any sense? We are driving in this trip with little ones so it would be great to have access to car near building. If they assign us Country fair (furtherest and no nearby parking) I think I may just wilt and collapse in a heap right there and then! ugh. I know someone has to take those rooms but oh please oh please not in September with the heat.

Any thoughts or first hand knowledge on this? Two strollers and second floor don't bother me so much but hiking nearly half mile in the sun to get a drink refill? oh dear.

DH & I stayed in a standard room on the first floor in the Jazz Bldg in January. Our room was close to the side parking lot, but still a very quick walk to the food court. On the back side of the building there was a small playground. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was quiet & relaxing. :goodvibes

What Poolside activities would you all like to see at All-Star Music? Has anyone participated in any of the activities they currently have? If so, what did ya think?

We are going at the end of Dec. My DF and I are going to WDW for our Honeymoon. But we are inviting his two grown DD 18 and 20 to spend part of the trip with us since they will not be able to be at our wedding. DF and I are staying at GF but we wanted to book a room at the ASM for the girls. We have never stayed there before and we want to make sure the resort will be a safe place for the girls to stay. I know they are not kids BUT still we want them to be safe! :)

Thanks for any help you can provide!

I think the pool activities and evening movies by the pool is a wonderful addition to All Star Music.

We went last September and we enjoyed watching the Hula hoop contests & dance parties. It was of the highlights of our afternoon dips.
We also loved the Keraoke and the nightly movies!

We are returning in a couple of days and we looking forward to more poolside activities at All Star Music.

Love, Love, Love this program! I hope they keep the program and expand it other resorts.

Did I mention I love the poolside activities and nightly movies at All Star Music??

Thanks so much EeyoresMyFavorite!

That is just what I was looking for. I see the playground on the map and know which building you are referring to and the parking looks readily accesible there as well as quick walk to Melody Hall. I will be putting in a request.

The poolside activities were one of the little pleasures of staying at ASMu! We originally booked ASMo for our December trip but switched the trip by a day and couldn't get Movies so we switched to Music and I'm (secretly) thrilled cause DD and I loved the poolside stuff last time we were there. We loved the movies! :thumbsup2
It's nice to see so much activity centered around the main pool at the resort. It really ups the fun factor of staying at a value resort.

I love movies at the all-star Music in October! Oh! One more thing i need the list of the movies on the month of October! And what time is the movie show!

When we were there a couple of weeks ago, they let you vote on what movie you wanted to watch each night (they gave you 3 choices).

I don't know! I wanted to see Mickey's House of Villains that is the movie i want to see. I need the list!

right now they have a Mystery Live action night and a Mystery Cartoon night. Those nights people can vote on the movies they put out.

The other movies for September are Finding Nemo, Camp Rock, The Gameplan, Enchanted, and College Road Trip. They are at 9pm. This is what it is for September..not sure what October is nor when the calendar comes out.

I keep going back & forth with a resort decision with ASMU or a moderate for next June 2009. The ASMU seems so much fun and I would love for my DS(8) to participate in the pool activities. I would mostly booked a preferred room in Calypso. Anyone out there visited in the month of June? I wouldn't want to be there when it would be over run by any sports teams. I just keep hearing how the teens take over the pool areas.:confused3

Can't wait to see any postings of the updated food court.

All-Star Music is my favorite hotel! And I can't wait to see the movie @ All-Star Music. Oh! I need Directions to the All-Star Music. I went to the mapquest. Isn't working very well do you have another website to get directions. Can some one help me!

Hi. My DD will be 8 during our trip and we think the activities and kid focus will be great. Not that I don't want to go go go 24 hours, but it will be nice to have someone else do the entertainment when we're out of the parks. Someone else can probably help here, but I think the sports teams are there during off times, not in the summer. July is bad for tour groups from Brazil, but I think All Star Music is the last place they stay - they are more likely at Sports or Music is what I've heard. The Family Suites make this a little more quiet apparently.

Can my travel agen tput in a request fo ra Jazz room fo rme for our October stay?

That description of Jazz being near the playground sounded so nice. On our first trip our kids had such a good time the evening we took them to the POP playground. I think they like the familiarity of a playground in the midst of so much new to see.

Constuction update - you can now go from the pool and food court to the lobby and buses without going around the building!!! Woo hoo! They re-opened access today.

The construction in the food court is still ongoing though.

We are here now so any other questions, just ask.

Cheers
Angela
