I was reading from the boards that the favorite building is Toy Story at the All Star Movies. I am paying extra for the "preferred view" which I was told was the Fantasia building. Am I going to like it or should I have saved $50 and stayed in a standard room (toy story). I have rebooked my vacation three times now and my travel agent (AAA) is not happy with me.

IMO, nothing is too far spread out at ASMO. Fantasia isnt MY "preffered" building, so I couldnt justify spending extra to be there and be "close" to everything. My kids would much rather stay in Toy Story(last year) or Mighty Ducks(hopefully this year). In fact when we first called for a quote all they had to offer us was a preferred room and I was disappointed in that. Then we found if we stayed one more day they had a standard room available and the total was only 24.00 more for an extra day. :D

I guess it all depends on whats important to you. If being very close to everything is top priority then Id go for it. If that doesnt matter and you prefer the theming of the other buildings, then go for the standard.

BTW, I dont think you wont like it at Fantasia. The whole resort is great! Good luck deciding.

We stayed in Fantasia (building 8, in the very back closest to the parking lot) this past New Year's weekend. We really liked it. It was quiet and we actually were able to get to the van so quickly, we could keep some of our extra stuff in it without a hassle. The main reason that people like the Toy Story buildings is the playground, ie Andy's Room. We loved playing in it, but much like the Football Field at the All Star Sports, do not like being right next to it. It is a fun place to take the kids, but we don't really want the noise if we want to sleep in.

By the way, we have stayed at all of the All Stars and find the Movies to be the least spread out of them all.

Enjoy your trip.

I thought Fantasia 5 was closest to the parking lot?
We've stayed at both Fantasia bulidings and have loved them. They are not too far away from the main building, and closer to the pool. We always ask for a quiet room, that's a room not facing the pool.

We stayed in the Woody building of the Toy Story section and loved it. Our room was on the third floor overlooking Andy's room. The kids loved playing in it. I felt where we were was close to the pool and the food court. I don't think the Fantasia building is worth the extra $10 a night, but that decision has to be up to you. Have fun on your trip :)

We've stayed at the All Star Movies twice now and its one of our favorites!!!
In 2000, we stayed in Love Bug, and it was great. It really is just a short walk to the food court/bus stop; in fact, every night when we got back to the hotel, we would get our mugs and walk back to fill them! And, our room was very quiet - we never heard any neighbors.
In 2001, we stayed in 101 Dalmations and my 5 yr old was SO excited!!!! Even though we arrived around 12:45 AM and she had fallen asleep on the way from the airport, when she heard the CM say we were in 101 Dalmations, she got her second wind and practically danced all the way to the room! She hugged the little puppy by the TV set and had to play like she was on TV. (All this at 1:00 AM!!!) Again, it was a very short walk to the food court/bus stop, and our room was very quiet!!
I personally don't think its worth an extra $10 a night for Fantasia Bldg - all the rooms are a quick walk back to the main building.
Enjoy your stay!!!!

Hello buzz2400-
We've stayed there 3 times in the last 3 years. If, and only If, you get a ground floor room facing the pool area is it worth it. To pay 10.00 more per night to be on the 3rd floor facing the parking lot doesn't make sense. If you keep your current ressie and decide not to stay in the preferred bldg. for the extra 10.00 per night, would you get a refund ? Ask your travel agent. The resort is so compact that any other bldg. would still be close to all. As for your travel agent being unhappy, would they be more happier with an unhappy customer who won't use them again and who'll tell all their friends not to use them.
Have a great vacation, send your travel agent a postcard from disney ,using some of your 50.00 savings.
