All FP machines to be removed from Animal Kingdom by next week and....

2 things:

1) FP+ is NOT FP- ... there are major substantial differences (some just pointed out by a PP, but others as well) between the two programs.

2) If you booked and paid for a vacation, when according to Disney FP- would still be running, and ... 3 days ??? before you arrive you find out it has completely changed, even just for one park, though you might also be at POP or All Stars and have it gone in the other parks, this is simply unacceptable.

I don't think Disney has ever said that legacy FP would still be running on any given day.

Oh boy! This should be fun so cue the hysterical laughter :rotfl2:.Our AK day is Dec 20th and I didn't make FP+ there assuming it would be better to use them that evening at Epcot (plus we scheduled them before the tiers). So, I do have guest courtesy, or whatever they are called, FP's given to us to use due to a horrible experience in October. Hope they honor those if we decide to use one or two at AK. I know one thing and that is to avoid the kiosk that day!

Well

1. Can the kiosks handle the load? esp. when this will be the first time the vast majority will have seen this technology
2. As Robo said, under FP- you could see the return time - what if they wait in line for 20 minutes and the FP's are gone or out to Park close?
3. Are they going to have their full day planned enough to know what they want to ride and when they want to ride it?
4. Are they going to have to make 3 selections, can they do just one? And then have to get back in line for another, not knowing what is now available?
5. As many said, what about those off-site veterans, not checking boards and expecting to go and pull FP-?
6. What's this going to do to RD?
7, Will they allow the CM's staffing this to carry a flask to get through the day?

These questions highlight my main concern with Disney during this whole debacle - lack of a solid schedule by which people could plan.

I know there are those that plan a year out, and for them, consideration just isn't possible when dealing with all of the components of this. But it is completely unacceptable to me that these notices get sent out, through small channels, a few days or weeks before implementation.

Optimism and stupidity are often two sides of the same coin.

Your point would be like arguing if I ordered and paid for a red car, and a Blue car showed up, and I was angry, I would be complaining about form over substance. Actually in this case its worse, because the substance is also different. FP+ in SUBSTANCE is different than FP- ... and worse yet, I am already there, or have book and paid for this months in advance, and I can't just return it and go to another car dealer.

A FP allows a person to experience an attraction with minimal wait times. That's what most people think it does. My entire point is that if a person is able to do this, then does it really matter how that FP gets distributed? I didn't make a distinction between FP+ and FP- on purpose.

I do understand people being concerned about bugs, glitches, and all of that, but the point of my post was to highlight the fact that if guests are still able to use FP+ to ride the same rides they would have ridden if they'd had access to FP-, then what's the damage?

Does anyone here know how many people visit AK on an average day and how many kiosks are set up at AK? If roughly half of the visitors are from offsite then how many people would be directed to the kiosks?

I'm just trying to picture how many people might be trying to get FP+ all at once when this happens.

It matters if they get their family up early yet end up spending the first hour in line at a kiosk.

It matters if they planned on riding EE 3 times with FP.

It matters if they intended to use more than 3 FPs that day.

It matters if they planned to use FP at AK before hopping to the MK to use FP there as well.

It's about time, feeling for the uncertainty of upcoming travelers though, but it had to happen.

Be interesting to see if no triple dipping effects what's available to select.

We will never use reserved FP+ at AK, just not enough there yet to justify more than a half day each trip. But the process/results should look similar to other parks.

Either way it appears closer to reserving attractions ahead of time-which is what our group is hoping for. :thumbsup2

I can almost hear it now:

CM: Hello there! Welcome to our magical experience with FP+, let me help you make your selections!

GUEST: Okay, cool. What can I get?

CM: Well, you can choose up to THREE of your favorite attractions and reserve your spot for today, avoiding the lines!

GUEST: Great! I'd like two passes to Test Track and one to Soarin please!

CM: Okay, here's the best part - you can pick ONE of those and ride it once, leaving two more for your other favorites!

GUEST: But I don't have any other favorites

CM: Based on guest feedback, you'll really like Figment. Let me schedule you for one of those.....

GUEST: I don't know who's feedback you've got, but I'm not interested in Figment. Can I get two FP's for Test Track?

CM: How about Captain EO? I bet you'd love that one....here, I can get you scheduled for 6:30 this evening.....

GUEST: Dude, I can see Captain EO from here and there is no line. I don't want Captain EO. Can I just get a couple of FP's for Test Track?

Repeat several hundred times per day.................

Wow, this is so us! :)

You did not answer my question though, do you really think Disney will hold back FP for day of and allow the person pre-planning their trip to go without FP reservations?

I know Jay Rasulo's answer to this question, and that's a pretty important person within Disney.

I guess I said that I don't know and neither do you. If I had to bet I would say that there is at least a 50-50 chance that they will.

If you show me the quote from Jay Rasulo in which he says EXPLICITLY that "we will offer all FP+ reservations to our guests on a first come, first served basis", then I will concede that your expectation is correct.

What you are doing now is taking a quote relating to a general strategy and drawing your own conclusion about how that will be implemented in one specific area.

Or for $2 you can reserve a spot on Jade1's SoarinII screens and avoid the 120 minute SB line. :thumbsup2

I'm still trying to figure out how off-site, non-AP will be able to pre-book. If Disney's goal in to lock people in ahead of time they would need to provide MDE access, wouldn't they? Are they going to offer some sort of time-delimited ticket, offer MB's for purchase that are good for a certain time period....? I don't know. It will be interesting to see how/if they might implement pre-booking to off-site.

You don't need to be staying on site to have access to MDE. Before I knew any better I linked our Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party tickets without a problem and we were staying at shades of green at the time.
