So that's it Hubby gave me the green light to book our Christmas trip for this year and with 30 mins I had booked it :rotfl2:

Don't want to run the risk of him changing his mind :rotfl:

We are flying out on Christmas eve from Gatwick for 3 weeks.

Will do 8 days on I drive - cheap and cheerful and then 2 weeks at OKW.

So excited, might even do a pre trip and live report this time if anyones interested :confused3

we'll probably go about the same time, but in 2017...
i found out over the weekend that i was calculating wrong..
i thought DDIL's sabbatical year is in 2018, but it's in 2017!!! woo hoo!!
one year less to wait...

right now we're in discussions with DDIL over when we'll go...
we want to go any time that's not in the middle of the summer..
but she doesn't want to take DGS out of nursery school - can you believe that???????
she's worried today (he's 3 months old) about him missing a few weeks of nursery school when he's 3 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the rest of us just looked at her and said "he'll be fine missing 3 weeks of nursery school!!" (thinking to ourselves -"she's CRAZY")
i think she'll come around by then...i hope!!

We are taking our 5 year old out of school for 9 days for this trip. She is very bright and doesn't seem to suffer any ill effects from being out of school for a few days. Not something we will be able to do in the future and once she is at Junior school I wouldn't want to take her out. - Not for 9 days anyway.

My other 2 daughters will both be in nursery and they will also be out - would hesitate to pull them out of Nursery.

The plan is to do SeaWorld on xmas day (we did this last xmas) and then spend the next week doing US and IOA with maybe a day at BG.

Hoping the weather is nicer than this year as was cold (really cold - coats and everything needed) from most of the time we were there.

Then 2 weeks at Disney :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

December/January are very unpredictable in terms of weather - we've been there when the kids were in snow suits and mittens and balaclavas (i have to find that picture - they were so cute).. and other years when it was so warm we swam every day!
i like the parks when it's cooler out....much easier to be there all day long..
the biggest problem is having to take a lot of clothes - for both mild and cold weather..

Were the flights expensive? I wondering when is best next year to take my girls as both will be in year 1

We go pre-Xmas but the flights seem to jump around the 14 December.

They are then just as expensive as summer.

We have paid just short of £5K for 4 adults, 3 kids and an infant. Flying direct with Virgin.

Was a miles + money flight so saved £500 so would have been more expensive.

If we could have gone on the 9th December and done it the other way around flights would have been £1500 cheaper, but we wanted to take her out after xmas rather than before and the free dining starts in January. We would have easily spent the £1500 on food for the 8 of us over those 2 weeks without "free" food.

If I can work out how to do pictures I will attempt a pre trip and trip report :thumbsup2
