All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

Actually, certain actions have indirect reactions. In my opinion, the points charts and adjusting them where people would have to buy more points is either a good or bad thing depending on your outlook. If the company is trying to drive profitability, adjusting the points charts requiring additional points purchases is a sales tactic. Also, there are negative consequences to this and again in my opinion where you don’t see a direct relationship I see an indirect relationship. YMMV.

ISince they can’t add points, only rearrange them, it’s not likely it’s going to spark sales to any great degree or it all.

But it is an interesting thought for sure!

Well demand is down, so that’s not an issue.

Except it's not still certain times book well before others.
Really, a whole team dedicated to revising the points chart? Seems those resources could be better used elsewhere.

Uh no because it's a legal requirement per the contract to maintain and update.

Additionally you now have a growing list of resorts, room categories, and seasons to make sure correctly calculate to the legally required point requirements that have a calendar that changes annually.

We just better hope Iger doesn’t decide to sell off the timeshare division.

Won't matter at most it will stop ticket discounts.

Actually being sold off might make it so the group is more aggressive going after Disney policy that changes to keep us grandfathered in potentially as it's in their interest.

Please google Iger and CNBC. Yes he is doing just that.
In what way?

He's talking about selling off parts of the company. That's potentially restructuring some stuff, not just dumping normal operations. He's not drastically reducing theme park hours, or abandoning ticket discounts, or any other day-to-day operations. You're talking about just forgetting about adjusting the points charts because they are too worried about other things that are unrelated to those people's jobs. That's not how it works.

Update: Last week, I decided against buying direct. This week, I made a few runs at 3 stale contracts (VGF 155-220) pointers) on DVCSearch.com.

I figured, by taking advantage of summer incentives, Magical Beginnings (MB) for 2022 points, and leasing out 2023 points...150 pts direct Favorite Week (FW) contract for a standard view resort studio...comes out to $150 pp. With 40 remaining years (remember I would lease out '23), the all-in cost pp/yr is $11.08.

I negotiated an 185 point contract with Dec UY and full '23 points for $160 pp. With intent to lease '23 points for $18 pp, cost pp comes down to $142 (all-in cost pp/yr $10.88). $11.08 - $10.88 = $0.20

Convince me VGF FW 150 point contract is worth $0.20 more pp/yr than a resale VGF non-FW 185 point contract.

Note: My Dec UY membership is already "DY" (membership perks eligible). My decision depends on you!

ETA:
Note to @PolyRob: No I didn't factor in credit card cashback or bonuses...but point taken.
Note to @achinforsomebacon: Revised numbers above based on all you responders, special shoutout to the bacon-lover for link to VGF price sheet and giving me a clue! Hahaha!
Are you able to do a single contract for 150 points if the FW is less than 150?

Yes, you can increase up to 150 to take advantage of all the incentives. All 150 points would be used if you decide to travel on the FW reservation that MS books rather than the amount required based on the FW chart. If you cancel or want to use the points you get the entire 150.

Thank you! My guide said we’d have to get special approved to complete that way but glad to hear it’s an option. I think we are leaning toward a FW even though we won’t be able to use for a couple years once the kids are out of school.

No problem! It definitely seems like a great idea, especially with the 142, 143, 144, and 145 point FWs! Just something extra you have that doesn't affect the points at all. I actually asked my guide if I had to purchase a separate 25 point contract and he said no, we can just "top off" to 150. Sounds like your guide is aware and will do what's needed to get it approved for you.

A couple of years ago when buying my first DVC contracts, my guide told me about topping off the points for a FW contract. Instead of doing that, I chose to have a 2nd contract with a small number of points. One of my FW contracts is for week 41, which frequently hits my birthday (and Columbus Day, and fall break at many schools), but some years it misses it by a few days. Therefore, I can use my 2nd contract to book a couple of nights so I do hit my birthday.

If you can afford it, instead of topping off a FW contract up to 150 points, maybe look into getting a 2nd contract at VGF for 25 points.

Either way, best of luck, and get what works best for you.

There were 2 potential issues I saw when attempting this for myself:

1 - VGF's best deal is 150 points unless you jump to 500 points. Once you go to say 170 points you're paying $166 per point rather than $161. I know it's not a lot of money, but it's something.
2 - If I want to do a gratuitous transfer I can give this entire contract with direct benefits to a relative OR I can sell my other VGF contracts and retain a FW and direct benefits for myself.

These points may not pertain to everyone. If I wanted a 132 point FW I think the additional 25 points would work better for me. We all vacation and DVC differently.

My guide said, and I read in the forums (I think in this thread) that for the FW 145 pointer, the 5 extra points would be given by DVD as “free” points. In other words, I buy the 150 pt contract and will by charged for 145 points. As opposed to 155 pt contract for the price of 150.

This is because the current incentive gives 5 free. It applies to everyone buying, not just for fixed week.

So, if you buy a 150 point contract, you pay the price for a 145 one.

Anyone going on the Inaugural DVC member cruise this Sept 4 on the Wish?

Sandi is correct. I just made my VGF FW49 DEC UY 150 point purchase and my guide added this on top of current summer incentives. With Magical Beginnings, Dream it Forward, rent out 2022 points, brings per point cost to $138.10! I should be part of the first 100 to get the signed Whalen print (I was his first cruiser to take up the offer).
Follow link in my name above to check out new offer for Dvc Member Cruisers.

Congrats on that fixed week 49 purchase at VGF!!! I have that same week but at CCV. Sounds like you got one heck of a deal!!

Hi all! Has anyone recently inquired about runDisney event week? I see that it was offered for direct CCV previously but unsure if they’re now offering for other resorts (or if she’s gone with the wind :upsidedow). Been combing through the pages but no luck. Any insight is appreciated!

It was only CCV and it was a limited time offer there.

Just came back from Member Cruise where I signed e-documents for our DRR add-on! 135-point contract for FW50 SV Studio!!! Plus 65-point top-off contract to 200 (for extra incentives) to bring our all-in price per point to $181 pp after incentives) (from base of $217pp)!! Add-on-itis hit us (me) hard this year!

A question for the thread I've been meaning to ask for a while...If I transferred all 150-points of my VGF FW-49 in SV Studio to someone else, will it still be treated as a FW by MS for the new owner? Any difference if it is before the FW is booked?
