All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

A question for the thread I've been meaning to ask for a while...If I transferred all 150-points of my VGF FW-49 in SV Studio to someone else, will it still be treated as a FW by MS for the new owner? Any difference if it is before the FW is booked?

I believe it’s only going to be the points as that is what you have until the reservation is actually booked.

And, you can’t transfer a reservation from one membership to another.

You are right, I used claude.ai (an AI app that you can upload documents to) and it did a fairly good job, but contradicted you. I asked it to cite its source and it pointed me to read the sections on FW/Guaranteed reservations but it must've mis-interpreted the following:

11. As an Owner of a Fixed Ownership Interest, you cannot Bank, Borrow or Transfer Vacation Points except in the following manner. If, in any year, you want to BankVacation Points into the following year, you must first opt out of your Guaranteed Reservation for the current year. If, in any year, you want to Borrow Vacation Points fromthe following year, you must first opt out of your Guaranteed Reservation for the following year. If, in any year, you want to Transfer Vacation Points, you must first opt outof your Guaranteed Reservation for the current year. Banked, Borrowed and Transferred Vacation Points may not be used to make Guaranteed Reservations. Once youopt out of a Guaranteed Reservation, and Bank, Borrow or Transfer Vacation Points, the normal Banking, Borrowing and Transfer Rules apply to those Vacation Points andyou cannot change your mind and re-instate the Guaranteed Reservation for that year. So be certain that you want to opt out of your Guaranteed Reservation to Bank,Borrow or Transfer Vacation Points before you do so. [bold and italics by me for emphasis].

TLDR: @Sandisw better than AI still.

Just came back from Member Cruise where I signed e-documents for our DRR add-on! 135-point contract for FW50 SV Studio!!! Plus 65-point top-off contract to 200 (for extra incentives) to bring our all-in price per point to $148 pp (after incentives)!!! Add-on-itis hit us (me) hard this year!
Excellent purchase!! Congrats! You will love the ease of knowing you don’t have to worry about booking that week. Great to use or to rent.

Correct, she will need to convert the fixed week to points before transferring. If the recipient wants the week, simply change the names on the reservation and rent it. Much easier.

How did you get DRR at $148/point. The pricing sheet my guide provided shows 200 points at $165.4 with incentives and MB. Was there a special incentive offered on the cruise or is that the new pricing that will start September 12th?

If you sell your contract to another owner, the Fixed Week goes to them, too.

If you transfer one years worth of points, the fixed week does not apply.

You could book a fixed week, and then rent it to someone else. You would just change the names on the reservation. But it can be difficult to rent a specific reservation. It is easier to rent points and let the renter choose the dates.

Definitely depends on the week. But for any weeks in December and week of Thanksgiving, there will not be any problems. I have rented my second week of December for 5 years now, and right at the 12 month timeframe. FW get booked earlier then the traditional 11 months out.

Yes a special cruise incentive! See attached offer sheet. It says "Member Cruise" so I don't know if it is also offered for regular cruises or specifically to the 2023 Member Cruise I was just on.

Awesome price! And I thought that I had a good deal buying 150 at VGF for $161/pt with this summer's incentives.

We'll just miss you with our FW49 at Riv, but maybe we'll see you in passing as you're doing FW49 at VGF + FW50 at Riv.

I haven't sailed on DCL yet, and the only member cruise I've taken was SWGS about 3 weeks ago. I didn't see any DVC CMs on the Halcyon, and that might break-up being in character for the storyline, so no cruise special DVC incentives for us.

That is reassuring for my FW49+50!

Thanks! Definitely "an offer I couldn't refuse!". Well, no horse head in the bed, of course!

Thanks to you all here on this thread, especially @PolyRob and @sethschroeder, my add-on-itis got a boost these past 30 days! Hahaha.

I am seeing 200 points with all incentives at $36,230 which is $181.15 per point. With the MB it would bring it down to $159.15 which is an awesome deal but how did you get it down to $148?

you are right, I found my error. I double counted the "free points" credit in my spreadsheet.

Congratulations on your 49 and 50 Favorite Weeks!

If you are planning on buying direct at either of these resorts its a no brainer to get a Fixed Week.

Updated FW Point Requirements (AUL, CCV, RIV, VGF) - March 2022
Note that some suggestion may have changed in the first 19 pages of this thread based on the change from Fixed Weeks to "Favorite Weeks" in March 2022

Why a fixed week?
  • There is no requirement to use it.
  • Fixed weeks resolves issue of hard to book times as you always have a room you can fall back to.
  • Points charts can adjust but Fixed Week Points do not meaning in the future your fixed week can be cheaper than booking normally.
  • FW at CCV can be linked to RunDisney (you pick the specific event your FW is tied to / default is week 44)
  • FW can be sold on the resale market, possible premium on FW contract (they are very rare on the resale market)
Issues with fixed week?
  • 10% premium based on resort inception points charts (they do not update in the future so could be more or less as point charts change)
  • Sunday to Sunday reservation (so you might need a small contract to get 1 or 2 nights before or after the reservation, RunDisney can choose day of week yearly)
  • Contracts are typically just for the FW points (if you need a couple extra points for an incentive tier they will bundle in the extra points, you only get these extra points back by cancelling the FW)
Why isn't this the normal suggestion?
  • Historically FW contracts did not get sale incentives, starting in December 2019 FW contracts started getting the same incentives
  • You can now add-on an additional contract to get to larger incentives and it all would qualify for the larger incentive (example I purchase a 118 point FW + 32 point contracts and got the 150 point incentive)
Sold out resorts
  • Sold out resorts can still be purchased if there is availability for the specific week you would like
  • This can always change in the future (current pause on sales for VGF 1.0 fixed weeks)
Which Fixed Week?
  • List of weeks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years: Link
  • There is no right answer but typically one where you will want to travel and might be hard to book
  • Disney is a Sunday Fixed Week so you can check calendars to see what dates in the future the week would land on
  • Personally like Redweek https://www.redweek.com/calendar as you can see the next 10 years (remember Sunday)
  • RunDisney Fixed Weeks are at CCV (unconfirmed report of it being available at RIV as well)
I would highly recommend if you are going to buy direct to purchase a FW.

Fixed Week Charts for RIV, CCV, VGF, POLY and AUL are attached to this post.

As mentioned before, they are quite rare, and it might be more rare to find one that lines up with a week and room type that you'd like at a price point that's acceptable. Looking at some of the numbers just from Riviera and the new VGF2/Big Pine Key from this monthly report: https://www.dvcnews.com/dvc-program...n-club-direct-sales-edge-upward-in-march-2023

So far at Riviera, only 111 fixed week contracts have been sold.
So far at VGF2 / Big Pine Key, only 39 fixed week contracts have been sold.

I have no idea how many have been sold at other resorts.

I bought 2 fixed weeks at Riviera. There are certain times that I'd like to have a WDW vacation, so a fixed week generally works OK for me. Also, I may overthink things, but long term, it might become more difficult to book the dates you want at Riv. As more contracts become resales over the years, you'll be competing with more people who can only book at Riv.
Attached is recent 09/05/2023 live inventory FW point-chart at RIV (fine print states subject to availability)…

Congrats on this :)

I'm confused where does the 10% premium for FW come in? Do you add 10% to the price, or do they make you buy 10% extra points relative to what it costs to book the week in the point charts?

And these are all limited to Sunday to Sunday? All resorts?

🔝This.

Yes (except CCV, which can be flexible based on runDisney events). No...just Poly and every resort built after.

There is a lot of optionality though, as you can read in this thread. View it like a call option on the week you choose. I chose week 49 and 50 like many in this thread, but Jan and Nov marathon weeks are historically super busy as well so they are very popular too.

Is there a way to check what room types and weeks are still available?

A few posts above, emchen has attached a fairly recent chart of what's available at Riv. Weeks / room types with a "-" are unavailable, assuming I'm reading it correctly. I'm sure a DVC guide could give you a similar one for VGF, but they're only selling the new Resort Studios fixed weeks there.
