All Aboard Presidents Week Mexican Riviera February 19, 2012 Wonder

The deadline sound good to me too. Is there any guide line for this group's FE? Are we still set the time to meet in first day?
Happy Holiday to everyone. :santa:

Let's try to meet, at least briefly, at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge. We can meet each other and update the FE list in case anyone made last minute changes or upgraded their room.

Well, the kids finally know about the cruise and are very excited! Their reactions were quite subdued but I think it was a lot of shock and confusion as they knew already that I had booked a 2013 cruise. It feels weird to be able to talk about it in front of them!! I keep trying to watch what I say...and I don't have to anymore! Thank goodness!! I finally remembered to tell them about the fish extender and our son said, "OH GOOD!!" So, we will have fun planning for this now. Hope everyone else's Christmases were spectacular. A 3:00 p.m. meet-up sounds great. Our last cruise we didn't know what anyone looked like so this may be nice so when we're around the ship through the week, we can say "hi". Anyway, onwards to Mexico!!!

Hello Everyone! We just got home yesterday from our first cruise ever (The 8 Night Wonder Holiday Cruise to Mexico) and had soooo much fun that I just booked again for this one! My husband can't take the time off again, so it will just be my 8 year old daughter and me. I look forward to getting to know some of my fellow cruisers. Has there already been a discussion about having a fish extender? We loved doing it on the Christmas cruise.
Regards!
Betsy

Hi Again...Just found the link to the FE and added my daughter and myself. We can't wait!

Jan 13th sounds great for the FE. I better start figuring out what I am going to do. Just got back from Disneyland and I was even more excited for the cruise until I went to try on a suit!:scared1: Trying on a suit right after all the Christmas goodies - not the best idea. Thankfully I have a few weeks to lose a few pound just to put it back on during the cruise. :rotfl: Can't wait!!

Hello Fellow Cruisers
My name is Natalie and I'll be on the Wonder for President's week along with DS10(Charlie) and DS8 (Joey).

This is our first Disney Cruise, I just told the boys about it on Christmas Eve, it's their Xmas present.
We'll be with a large group of friends but I'd like to hang out with my fellow Dis Boarders too : )

Count us in for the FE, we're newbies to this but sounds fun.

We'll be at Disneyland Thurs-Sun before the cruise, then will take a taxi from DLR on Sunday morning 2/19 to the port.

For excursions we'll do the zipline at Cabo and Paradise Beach at PV

I need to book Palo, still new at this.
Does it work like Disney Dining? Will it be all booked up at this point?
See you all soon!

I feel exactly the same way. It is weird not having a secret anymore ;) Now we wait for our stateroom assignment. Looking forward to meeting everyone soon!!

Welcome Betsy and Natalie! :wave2:

To sign up for the FE, go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhGgA6fsMCNxdDN5YkhqNUZKQ1h4ZWZLcUxqeEdvYVE#gid=0 and add your information. Deadline to sign up is Jan 13.

We can plan to meet at 3 pm on the first day and schedule casual get togethers, for those that are interested, later in the cruise. What are you guys interested in, mixology classes? games/trivia? coffee? jogging?

As far as recognizing faces, the Dis Board official color is lime green. ::yes:: On our last cruise, someone made laminated lime green Mickey faces (from the Mickey paint chips at Home Depot) that we clipped to our lanyards. It was nice because, even if someone didn't make it to the first meet, throughout the cruise, people from the Dis Boards would see the lime green Mickey on our lanyards and introduce themselves.

Is anyone in our group crafty? I'm not but I can try and copy what was made for our last cruise. Let me know if you guys are interested. :hyper2:

ETA: This is the list I have for FE. Please let me know if you find a mistake.

Hello Fellow Cruisers

We'll be at Disneyland Thurs-Sun before the cruise, then will take a taxi from DLR on Sunday morning 2/19 to the port.

Have you looked into taking a shuttle or even a town car or limo? Taxis can be quite expensive (approx $100 or more depending on traffic) from DLR to the port. On the main board, I remember reading about limos running approx. $80.

Great! :thumbsup2 Let me look for it. I think our cruise stuff got put in the garage when we brought our X-mas stuff inside.

LKFan good point. I also considered using the dcl shuttle the travel agent said if there is any delay in getting to the port the ship won't leave without you. Although I think getting from Anaheim to the port shouldn't be a problem.
I used ebube limo in anaheim before maybe I'll call them for a quote.

Misako
thanks I will sign up on the FE spreadsheet.

Mixology class sounds fun or coffee.
I'll be with a large group of friends but would like to break away to meet my fellow Dis'ers : )

Ready for another stint on the Wonder! Back to back this time. Lookout Mexico, here comes the CruiseCowboy, once again. PV and Manzanillo in the summer was nice but way too hot. Mid Feb is perfect! Hoping for calmer seas, longer excursions and some chill out time.

I dont need stuff from FE (no kids) but I plan on bringing some giveaways for the doors that are extra cool. Cowboy themed of course; from Calgary, Canada (the Stampede City).

Though we've been home since Monday from our Christmas cruise on the Wonder, I only today started to unpack. Then I decided, what the heck, a lot of these clothes won't be worn again until our Feb. cruise, so decided to just repack them! Now that I've been on a cruise I know exactly what I'll need and wear. We each took two suitcases and a carry-on for Christmas. This time we'll fit it all into one big suitcase and one carry-on apiece.

Here are a couple of pictures. I think she just got the paint chip samples from Home Depot (which I put in the upper right corner), cut out the Mickeys and laminated them. She attached inexpensive clips and passed them out to everyone at the greet on the first day.

I'd love to to know what you did or didn't need.
We'll be going to Disneyland for 3 days before the cruise so I need to conserve space
Thanks!

Hi There! I really overpacked clothes. I thought I would need to change every night for dinner, but found that cruise casual pretty much described what I wore during the day: capris or nice white jeans and a blouse. I'm not someone who enjoys dressing up, though I do make an effort to look nice, just not fancy. I wore a nice black cocktail dress for the formal night, and a nice skirt and blouse for semiformal, and all other nights I wore nice white capris or my white jeans with a nice blouse, glammed it up with jewelry and fit in very well on cruise casual nights. Since I had packed enough for two changes a day and then some, I was definitely overpacked. I also brought waaay more shoes for my daughter and myself than we needed.

Here's what I didn't bring that I wish I had: warm outerwear! I wound up buying a pricey sweatshirt on the ship. The sea days were all chilly, and I was freezing on deck with my one light sweater. I'll know better this time! Also something to think about: The towels used on deck at the pools and handed out for shore excursions are not any larger than bath towels. I plan to bring larger beach towels from home for our Las Caletas beach excursion. We did the Paradise Resort excursion last time (VERY nice) and to use one of the resorts larger towels they (Paradise Resort) required that they held onto your Key to the World card until you brought it back. I wasn't comfortable with that, so just used the smaller Disney towel.

I'll also have less to carry this time as we won't be toting Christmas presents.
Hope this helps!

Good idea about the towels. :thumbsup2

Last time around, I ended up buying a loose swimsuit cover up for Cabo. I could have used it for the first day when we just took a water taxi and hung out at Medano beach but it really came in handy for after the dolphin swim.

Thanks for the packing advice, I tend to overpack anytime we go somewhere.
I wasn't planning on bringing beach towels but I will now.
I will have jackets since we're going to DL before the cruise.
Is there a laundry room on board?
