All Aboard Presidents Week Mexican Riviera February 19, 2012 Wonder

The weather was cold and rainy in LA but very nice in Mexico. It was cool the last day at sea as we were out in the Pacific again. Warning: Many people felt sick on the first day down and on the last day back. If you are prone to sea sickness, make sure you bring meds and take them early.

The boat was full (most likely because of KSF) but it didn't bother us. We avoided the buffet during peak hours, had brunch, tea AND dinner at Palo and enjoyed the Cove Cafe and other spots we didn't get to explore on our first cruise (5 nt dbl dip to CC).

Our daughter loved the Edge and our son (who was 8 at the time) tolerated the Club. It seemed crowded but he didn't participate in any activities other than making/eating cookies and Mario Kart.

Thank you for the info, will pack for warm & cold LOL and our sea sick pills.:scared1:

Did everyone get the message that the itinerary has changed? No Mazatlan but, instead, we have one day in PV and two days in Cabo.

Thank you for selecting a Disney Cruise Line® vacation. We’re glad that you are sailing with us this coming year.

In order to provide you with a premier family experience, we have modified your sailing itinerary to be as follows:

Sunday Depart Los Angeles
Monday Day At Sea
Tuesday Day At Sea
Wednesday Puerto Vallarta
Thursday Cabo San Lucas
Friday Cabo San Lucas
Saturday Day At Sea
Sunday Arrive Los Angeles

Please note that we have replaced the call in Mazatlan with an additional call in Cabo San Lucas. As you may know, safety is very important to us and we have made the decision, in part, due to the changing environment in Mazatlan and the surrounding area.

We are confident that this revised itinerary featuring two calls in the vibrant and popular port of Cabo San Lucas will allow for an even better overall guest experience. Our Port Adventures team has a vast range of excursions planned ashore that we are certain everyone will enjoy. Please visit My Cruise Plans at www.disneycruise.com for a full listing of available options.

Again, thank you for sailing with us. We are looking forward to providing you with an excellent cruise experience.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew of Disney Cruise Line®

Just came back from our Alaska Disney cruise. It was really was magical!!! It was our first time on the West Coast, we loved it (except the time change)

Hilary, what a great suprise!!! The kids are going to flip. 3 years ago we cruise on the Wonder for Thanksgiving. Forget the turkey, DH & I ate Lobster. Yum Yum. LOL

We went on a Celebrity cruise last December. I ran upstairs at 5pm for the sailaway party. I was all ready to PARTY. Guess what, it was just me and the smokers. :scared1: Nobody else showed, including the staff. It was very disappointing.

Jack & Craig, I am going to a girlfriends HS reunion is SF this Nov. Can you recomemend any places to rent in the heart of the city? We are a party of 5 and want to be together.

Hi there - we've been pretty swamped and haven't visited here for a while. Don't know of any rentals in the city unfortunately (other than hotels of course:)).

We've not seen this e-mail yet but we did figure this change would probably happen. I just hope they don't cancel Puerto Vallarta too (like Princess did). If they do that, we'd probably cancel and spend the week in Vallarta.

So where does Princess stop?

I can't imagine three days at Cabo.

Hi I received a Disney call yesterday, plus an email too. I was expecting this, for I read last years MR reports, and they cancelled Mazatlan. I think we will be ok for Puerto Vallarta. If I'm not mistaking last year they didn't do Cobo 2 consecutive days in a row. I like this years better.

Now we need Kids Sail Free and we will be set!!!

Last year there were a couple of different itineraries. Some had Cabo back and others had PV in between.

We had Cabo back to back. They did Pirate night in between the two Cabo days because it wasn't as windy and Mickey could do his zipline. :wizard:

I'm with you on the KSF. Other than the first week of April, the Jan - April cruises seem pretty empty. Shoot, there isn't even a thread for the Feb 5 cruise. I'm hoping that Disney decides to offer a KSF for next year.

We had Cabo back to back. QUOTE]

I have a couple more questions if you don't mind.

Did Disney have a curfew on what time to be back on the ship the first night?

Do you remember if there was any casinos in Cabo?

So where does Princess stop?

I can't imagine three days at Cabo.

They're doing 2 days in Cabo and 1 in Ensenada. And that's on the Mexican Riviera cruises they've kept on the books. They've cancelled many and are doing California coastals now.

Ensenada??? :sad2:

The ship didn't stay in Cabo for the night but went back out to sea. I can't remember exactly but "all aboard" time was before dinner - maybe 3-5 pm. I'll try to check my old Navigators for the exact time.

I don't remember any casinos in Cabo but we weren't looking for them.

What type of casino are you looking for? There are some in So Cal. They aren't anything like the Las Vegas casinos but if you need a gambling fix, they'll do.

Hi everyone.

Jack and I have just returned from our 1st Alaska cruise (on Golden Princess).

What an incredible itinerary! Had an awesome time. Just need to go through all of our pictures . . .

Now we can focus on this cruise :)

Hi everyone,

We just booked this cruise this morning with kids sale free! :woohoo: It hasn't been posted on the DCL website yet, but if you call and ask, they will give it to you! I saw someone post it on the main DCL forum here so called DCL and sure enough we got it! It's for MR cruises 1/8/12 - 3/4/12. I have a western caribbean booked this same week on another line, so now we will have to decide what we want to do!

Hi LKFan! We sailed the MR cruise with you last year during President's week!

Hi LKFan! We sailed the MR cruise with you last year during President's week!

Yay! I've been watching these boards like a hawk. The MR cruises seem empty (shoot, Jan 22 and Feb 5 don't even have threads started yet). I saved $1100 with KSF which is what we were waiting for. :cool1:

Samily, it will be great to sail with you again. We had a good group last year. :grouphug: Is your daughter bringing a friend (and sock monkey) again? And your son..... has he been practicing his Mario Kart?

I am waiting to hear back from our TA to see if we can get KSF applied to our ressie. I have also sent e-mails to friends trying to talk them into joining the cruise.

Samily, how old are your kids. My DS will be almost 9 at the cruise and DD will be 7. This cruise is going to be a surprise for them.

We are getting closer to being able to book excursions and such and getting very excited.

Is this group interested in doing Fish Extender exchange. We did one on our Thanksgiving 2010 cruise and had a lot of fun with it. It was a pretty long list of people participating though and it took a lot of effort to get everything ready. I would be up for participating, but not sure I could be the coordinator since that is the busiest time at work for me.

Wow, you have a great memory! No, no sock monkey this year...but my DD is bringing a friend again - her other BFF this time to make it fair :hippie: Hopefully this year my DS will actually leave the lab and get off the ship! If I recall correctly, I think you had a Mario addict too? And both our DS's ended up sick with Mario fever one day? One of my kids always ends up sick for one day on every vacation. It never fails!

I'm psyched about the kids sail free... I had given up hope that they would offer it again!

Hi Hilary,

What a great surprise for your kids!! From what I've read, your TA should have no problem applying the kids free discount.:wizard:

We will have my DD who will have just turned 14, her BFF 13, my DS 10, and my DS 7.

I'm torn on the FE exchange. The kids love it but last year I swore I wouldn't do it again - my poor DH always ends up lugging the extra suitcase of gifts and gets so mad when he finds out what he's been lugging around  This past year I carried the fragile stuff in my carryon and decided to check the suitcase with the rest of the gifts, well we hit so much traffic on the way to the airport and were so late, we checked our bags at the curb so I ended up having to pay for that suitcase. Then I had to pay for it on the way home too. DH had no idea what had been in that suitcase until it was time to pass out the gifts and I got caught :rolleyes1 At least he wasn't carrying it! If we do it, I'll have to come up with something that travels light!

Yes, my son was a Mario Kart seat warmer and developed Mario fever by the end of the cruise. I *always* bring the entire medicine cabinet when we go on vacation. Unfortunately, on that trip, I forgot children's Advil. The store was out of it so I had to spend $6 on pediatric Advil which was basically just two doses for my 9 year old. The next day (our last day at sea), I went down to the ship's doctor and bought the children's Advil from them.

Regarding FE, I'm in. We drive to the port which makes it easy. So far, it looks like we have a small group. That might change when the KSF promotion goes public.

Has anyone heard from Patricia (PurtyPat1)? She was waiting for the KSF promo. I'm wondering if she has heard about it.
