Alcohol in Magic Kingdom

Since this thread has already jumped the rails, there is a far cry difference between drinking around the world, getting drunk to the point of stumbling, and having wine with dinner. Granted, and that is a completely different conversation to sneaking beer into the parks. If the only way you can enjoy a moment in the parks is with alcohol, then my friend, you have issues. I won't go so far as alcoholic, but needing the alcohol to get through the day, even at Disney is a warning sign, in my uneducated opinion. Of course if this describes you, feel free to flame away at me. Its your life, do what you want.

You don't have a right to repel up the castle, you don't have the right to walk the track at space mountain, you don't have the right to pee in the middle of main street. So there are rules, and you accept those rules when you decide to purchase park admission.... this also means that you don't have the right to have an alcoholic drink at Disney... except where they allow it. Again, demanding your right to drink alcohol, might also be a warning sign.

They sell beer at the Busch parks and at Hershey and it has never seemed to be a problem when we were there.

That said I really don't care all that much, I enjoy alcohol while on vacation at WDW but never really felt it was missing from MK. I don't drink at AK or DHS either...just haven't ever really wanted to.

Epcot is different. The WS basically revolves around food and drink so it just fits there better and I do enjoy having a few there. But I wouldn't bring a beer to FW for example it just doesn't seem to fit for me.

Isn't there a special VIP tour for that stuff???

Walt didn't want alcohol in the MK until a sponsor told him they wanted alcohol and he said okay. It might be confined to the private club in DL but even he wasn't going to pass on a revenue source.

Drinking Around the World is absolutely the problem. Disney drinks are big, and cost a lot. My wish - they sell a "Drinking Around the World" ticket, for like $50, entitles you to one drink at each country, in a SMALLER glass, so your total overall consumption is lower than it would be paying for each drink. With nine countries, you would save money so it would be motivation to buy and drink less.

My worst Epcot drinking experiences are end of night on the boat back to Boardwalk. There is always a loud, obnoxious drunk with their friends/family who start yelling and dropping the F bomb. First time my DD heard that word was on a Friendship boat. The person wasn't terrorizing others, just his friends, but everyone on the boat heard it all.

We like a drink or wine too, so we would probably buy one at MK if offered in the evening. But I'm okay without it because I know the Dads who have to push the mega-strollers and wait while Mom and the kids do Small World would be tempted, then we'd have a bunch of drunken stroller drivers doing who knows what

I absolutely love the idea of a drinking around the world ticket that offers less overall consumption and money saving. But I don't think Disney has an incentive for that- I can't see them wanting to limit the money spent.

It sounded like the OP's DH just thought it would be fun to have one beer with a hot dog while he people watched. I don't think that one beer indicates a problem, maybe a case would. ;)

If you want a big, strong drink I recommend Trader Sam's Shrunken Zombie Head. I wouldn't say Disney drinks in general are huge, but there are deals to be found :)
How much does a drink like that cost? None of the online menus that I've found mention prices.

If I remember correctly, it's about $20 with the souvenir cup. It's expensive, but a fun atmosphere and a strong drink. And to be fair, if you would buy a mug like that at a gift shop, you would definitely be paying at least $10.

I've had the Nautilus at Trader Sam's before- now that is an expensive drink. $50 with the souvenir boat it comes in. However (especially since I didn't pay for it myself), I recommend it!! Delicious and strong.

And the good news is that for those who are tired of being sober at MK, the Poly is just a quick monorail ride away. My friends and I are definitely guilty of doing an early evening stop over at Trader Sam's before heading over for Wishes. :)
