Alcohol in Magic Kingdom

Have you had the Lapu Lapu at the Poly??? :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I've never gotten so much as slightly buzzed off a lapu lapu, not even after having one as my first drink after being pregnant and then breastfeeding for a year. I'm a total lightweight and lapu lapus do nothing for me. I must always get a stingy bartender or something. :(

Maybe I had a heavy handed bartender...or fell victim to a hot summer day. I'm also not big on hard al Ohio so that could have done me in!

Walt smoked throughout the parks, didn't he? And didn't he have quite a reputation for drinking? We sure we want to go with EVERYTHING that he wanted?[/QUOTE]

I have given my reasons a few times now and I stand by them, there is no reason not to keep the MK dry. Anyone who wish a drink, myself I included can enjoy them in any of 50 other bars and TS places within WDW.

As to Walt smoking, by the time Walt Started going on TV and the DL opening he never wanted his picture taken smoking so as to not promote a bad habit becuase he knew people looked up to him.

He was a social drinker like most of us today He had a back massafe most evenings to relief pain.from a Pollo accident in the 30's. His assist. Tommy, would make him a scotch mist ( mostly water and a scotch)

But the bottom line is really that anything we say is meaningless becuase the Igor and Igortrons of present day Disney is going to do what they want.

No:
"When Walt Disney first designed the Magic Kingdom, he made it clear that alcohol was not to be sold. The concept for the park was to be “family oriented” with children and their parents enjoying time together. Much unlike what happens at some carnivals, state fairs, or non-Disney theme parks, an adult member of the family would not hand out tickets and allow the kids to adventure on their own while he went to the bar or beer stand."
Ignoring the kids to ride alone so the adults can stand at a bar is a far cry fro dad having a beer with dinner while you all eat together.
Actually parents showing how they drink responsibly is good role modelling for their children as they get older.

I think this would be more of a sign of an alcoholic "Hey I would like a glass of wine, instead of just having a glass here where I am eating dinner I will need to leave the park, catch a monorail to go to a bar"
I don't think it's a sign of an alcoholic, I think it's someone following the rules by not drinking in the park. I enjoy a drink, too, but if there's no drinking in the park, I can certainly wait till I leave. Rules are rules. I didn't make them, but I have no problem following them. :)

Technically MK is no longer dry. That changed when BOG started serving alcohol. Who knows if that will remain the only place that does.

Very true. Under Walt we probably would have had dramatically themed beer carts. With Iger we'll get a kegerator with a commemorative solo cup.
