This was a super deal last year and I'm happy to see it's back. This DOES include Disney cards! I was able to buy $500 in Disney cards and get $100 of FREE groceries in each transaction. I bought $1500 for my trip last year and had $300 in catalina coupons to use at Albertsons! YMMV Check local store to see if they are participating.

Yes, I just did it here in Illinois today. One word of caution though - the catalina coupons expire in a week.

Last year I took the catalinas and bought Albertson's cards with them. I haven't done this year's deal yet (going tonight). I wonder if that is still doable.

I would love to know if this works! Please post back and let us know. :goodvibes

The $20 coupons are not good on gift cards, and may only be used one per transaction - you can not stack them. I just broke my shopping trip up in to four orders, and paid $8 total out of pocket after all the manufacturer coupons and everything.

Just reminding any casual readers there are two seperate grocery chains that use the "Albertsons" name -- one is Albertsons LLC, which serves Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Florida. The other Albertsons is part of the nationwide SuperValu chain and serves shoppers in Washington state, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Louisiana, Nevada, Southern California, Florida and Utah.

And yes, both Albertsons chains run completely different promotions, sales, etc.

For those who were familiar with Acme Markets and Jewel-Osco once being connected with Albertsons, as those stores are also owned by SuperValu, they share promotions, etc. in common with the Albertsons that operates in places like Washington state and Florida.

I am in PA and just saw this ad, but didn't think about Disney. Hmmmm... Maybe pay off our hotel room in gift cards? Just did a recent deal at Genuardis for some wedding gifts. Not many ways to get 20% back.

So of course I made a $700 payment YESTERDAY on my trip! That could have been $140 in free groceries:sad1:

The good news is I am paying off the trip by the end of this month, and I know better now!

Yes. IL Jewel is participating. But, the catalinas must be spent within one week and, at least at my Jewel, they do not stack.

I bought BP/Amoco cards. We will be buying gas over the summer. They came in $25 cards which will also make good graduation gifts.

It's also happening at Shaw's in the northeast. I'm hoping to get a bunch of Disney ones for our upcoming trip.

Someone on another forum mentioned that this should work with the Discover cards 5% cashback for grocery stores this month - even better! If I buy $500, I'll get $100 in cats and $25 in Discover rewards

What stores in PA are participating? I am in NJ but would drive to PA to do this deal. Thanks!

Just an FYI about this deal at Acme: It doesn't start until tomorrow (6/10). I haven't seen any reports that anyone has gotten it to work just yet ahead of time.

Our local Albertsons flier in the north Dallas 'burbs says buy $50 in participating gift cards and save $5 off your next purchase.

Just posted this in the 5X Disney rewards thread -- good to earn extra rewards...

Here's a great way to earn more 5X rewards. Shaws Supermarket (in the northeast) along with other markets (SuperValu and others) are having a special on GCs. Buy $100 worth and get $20 off your next order. So they have tons of cards including gas cards (which you need anyway), restaurants, Home Depot, Lowes, and Disney as well. If you have a trip to pay off this would be a great way to earn extra rewards plus get $$ for shopping!

The last time that I tried to use a credit card to purchase gift cards at one of my local Acme stores, they told me that I needed to pay cash! Now I can see making that stipulation for Visa or Amex GCs but for a Disney GC?!!!

I ended up buying them from a different store even though I had the cash in my wallet to cover it. I even wrote corporate about it and their only response was to direct me to another Acme. :confused3

I'm not in an Acme area but I can't see why they would do that. So many stores have these hugh displays with gift cards. I was turned down at CVS traying to buy GC with ECBs but that's a whole different game:)
