My guess is that you can. I called yesterday to see if I could buy the dining plan with rewards (trading into a DVC) and the answer was yes. I would call to confirm though...

Jen...you just made my day Do you know when this ends w/shaws?? I'm thinking I could cash out my disney acct and buy a bunch of gift cards. I could order my tix now vs waiting... then pay some on my cruise. Money is sitting in savings not earning any interest, so why not... But we are going away saturday until saturday. I can head to shaws next saturday if thats the end, but if its running now, I will def get some tomorrow and use tomorrow, but not nearly as much as I planned (if they do in fact expire in a week) hmmmm, I wonder if shaws will be in my mail today.

ETA: of course I just got my shaws email and the link to the flyer isn't working tried checking website and it's giving me error message.

The are accepted at pretty much all of the places owned by Disney. Or you can just use your room key to charge it back to your room and then use the gift cards to pay for the balance the night before you check out.

If it works with Discover Awesome! but a word of caution on this one. My local Shaw's only lets you pay cash for GCs. I'd call your local store to confirm that they will take a CC in payment. Most stores around won't take them because of the issue of people stealing CCs then using them to buy GCs so they can absolutely access the stolen product.

A couple of things that I've been reading on the couponing forums:

• Only one Catalina will print per transaction. So if you want to buy 5 and get $100 worth of Catalinas, you need to do 5 transactions.
• These Catalinas are not stackable, meaning that you cannot use all of your Catalinas in a single transaction.
• You cannot use these Catalinas to buy a gift card. So you cannot buy one $100 GC, get a $20 Catalina and then apply it towards another $100 GC in a subsequent transaction.
• They expire a week after you make your purchase.
• Offer is limited to 5 per store loyalty card.

I just got back from Acme and I wanted to report in for any of you Philly-area disboard members.

I decided to try jmpellet's suggestion and I purchased $500 worth of Disney GCs (4-$100, 2-$50) in a single transaction. This was at the very same Acme that would not let me use a credit card to pay for any type of GC last year. Now the GC displays just says that you cannot use a CC for Visa or AmEx GCs.

I paid with my Disney Visa and had no problem there (woo hoo! $5 in Disney Rewards!). But only 3 Catalinas printed. So the cashier sent me over to the customer service area to get that fixed. The clerk behind the desk could not force his register to print 2 more Catalinas, so he ended up doing a credit and handed me $40 cash!

I would have been happy with a $40 Acme GC but cash is good.

My 3 Catalinas will expire on 6/17. But I have no doubt that I will be able to use them between now and then.

So for those in Philly who were wondering, yes you can buy all $500 worth of GCs in a single transaction. Just make sure you count your Catalinas before leaving the register area!

I saw this post yesterday and was sure Acme would not get it right. So off I went today to get the cards. The lady at the cs desk did not understand anything about it. (Strangely enough they announce the deal every 5 minutes on the pa) She in turn went to another boss who understood what I wanted to do but thought it best to ring GC's up separately. Anyway it would not print out coupons after transaction so she had to manually key in $20. credit with each trans which would stop the machine from printing. Lucky for me there wasn't a customer waiting behind me because it took forever. I eventually got $500. for $400., which is awesome for me. Thanks everyone, I appreciate the head up on this great deal. Good Luck to all trying it!

Is anyone else having trouble using the Disnry cards to buy tickets before the price increase? My store only had the $50 Disney ones, so I bought 20 of them. When I went to call CRO to buy our tickets, they can only use 2 gift cards per reservation. I'm waiting to hear from the Disney Store if i can use that many cards to buy tickets from them.
