We are going on our first Alaskan cruise - mom, dad and two teen boys. Looking for suggestions for port excursions. We are not planning on any helicopter rides. Thanks in advance!

Which ports are you going to? That will help with suggestions! We loved Alaska!!!

We really enjoyed the Bering Crab Tour in Ketchikan, kids were 9, 13 &15. The tour takes place on one of the boats that used to be on the Deadliest Catch. If they have availability, it’s slightly cheaper to book direct.

in Juneau, I would recommend a trip to Mendenhall glacier or a whale watching tour.

Various fishing tours are also available in the ports, if your family is into that.

My DD, who at the time was 15, really enjoyed the White Pass excursion in Skagway, which we booked through Chilkoot Charters. We were unable to do the rail part due to a rockslide on the tracks, so it was a bus both directions, but she loved it. In Ketchikan, she loved the Wilderness Exploration and Crab Feast. In Juneau she enjoyed going up the Mt Roberts tramway and hiking to the lookout deck.

My only advice is to look for combo courses to maximize your port time.

* Best of Skagway

* Best of Juneau

Don't forget extra days at your bonus port Vancouver.
