Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

:scared1:Including today I only have 4 more packing days left & I have sooo much to do & so little time to do it. :confused3 I haven't time had much time for this thread this last week & a half that I've been doing what I call "fly bys"
just swooping in very quickly to catch up on what everyones saying but not having enough time to post. I will post at least one more time before I leave I hope. Oh yeah:

I'm bringing 4 pairs of shoes & maybe water shoes for pools/spa.

Hi, I just discovered the DISboard last week and this Meeting thread. Our group of 8 will be onboard 7/19. Is it too late to meet up with the rest of this thread group?

Also just found out what a FE is. Looks like we missed the cutoff. But have read about a DISboards lanyard. How do we get a lanyard so we can meet some of you all?!

I will be in Vancouver before hand and was thinking of eating at the Fish House too. Do I need to scroll thru all 153 pages to find out where every one is meeting and events that are happening before, onboard and after the cruise?

Thanks for your patience with this last minute newbie!

Hi and Welcome!

As Tom (The God of Graphics and Lord of Lanyards) mentioned the FE list closed already but if you give me your cabin number, names and ages I bet the FE Fairy might give you a visit. She dropped off some extras with me for just such an occassion...

You will need to hang a receptacle from your fish but anything will do (reusable grocery bag, tote bag, etc).

Looking forward to meeting everyone on the board onboard.

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

oh wow two more weeks!!!:woohoo:

i think i have something for the FE but im not on the spreed sheet :o

oh well!(THE PRINTER IS OUT OF INK SO I DONT KNOW IF I CAN DO IT)opps had caps on

Hi!

I didn't see you on the spreadsheet either but no matter...

I will happily include your group in my gifting (as previously stated, the FE Fairy - picture Tinkerbell wearing an apron, with random colors of glitter in her hair, puffy eyes from lack of sleep and bandaids on her fingers covering the papercuts and gluegun blisters - gave me some extra items to distribute for just such an emergency) provided that I have names, ages and cabin numbers.

Oh, and I am assuming you will have an FE hanging outside your cabin door for delivery, right?

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon. Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Thanks for posting this, we joined the President's Club a few weeks ago, but DCL couldn't add it to our reservation so we have to add it at the desk, the free internet is great and the bikes sound like fun!
Copying this from the Vancouver thread. Maybe useful to some of us.

Fairmont hotels

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you staying at Fairmont hotels, I encourage you to sign up for the Fairmont President's Club. It is free, and gave us the following benefits:
1. Special line at registration desk
2. Free Internet (saved 13.95 CAD per day)
3. Free daily newspaper
4. Access to hotel's BMW bikes (see below)
5. Access to hotel's BMW car drop off; they will give you a ride on a "first come" basis to downtown Vancouver if the car is available; we didn't use this service.

You can register on-line and write down your member number in case your card doesn't arrive before you leave. Just give the number to them when you check in. We had one night on our own and three nights with DCL, and had the benefits all four nights because we added the reservation number to both reservations (which they linked so we could stay in the same rooms).

We stayed at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. The DCL rate was better than the on-line rate, but DCL couldn't do more than three nights. DCL's rate looked even better after they added over 15% in taxes to our one night booking. I know, this is different for those of you who used Hotwire or other services to book your room.

We contacted the hotel prior to our stay using the "contact us" on the website for Fairmont Pacific Rim. The concierge desk responded and we used that email address for future correspondence.

We booked four BMW bikes for Saturday morning and rode around Stanley Park. Great bikes, great route! We enjoyed it so much we did it again on Monday when my sister could join us. All for free, only cost was the tip we left for bell services. Note that we booked the Saturday ride weeks in advance, and the Monday ride only two days before.

I can't believe we are at 2 weeks!! I started packing yesterday, but still have a lot more packing to do, I'm trying to be good and not over pack, but something tells me that ain't going to happen:upsidedow

Another FYI...

If you're renting a car in SEA, Alamo has posted last-minute rates for rentals picked up by 7/19. For me, this knocked a good $100 off my rental. I haven't seen others yet, but I would think other agencies may follow in the next few days.

If you haven't prepaid your rental (almost always a bad idea), I'd encourage you to take a look. At Alamo, either click the "last minute specials" link, or use code IG.

Same boat ur in...still have lots to do including 2 beach parties taking up my days...but they are with lots of fun friends and Michael wants to go...one ibis Friday and the other one Sunday....my home is in order so today I will start on the FEs again.

We fly out this coming Wed...can't believe the time has come...and before we know it we will all be back here saying we can't believe how it has come and in the blink of an eye is gone....we have been on this thread for the most part over 2 years....which seems like yesterday.

Tom have you figured out a hotel stay yet?
Tom have you figured out a hotel stay yet?
We're at a Holiday Inn Express in Vancouver on Monday night. Haven't figured out Sunday night yet.

Just to everyone knows, I sent out the final spreadsheet of FE participants via PM. There are 19 rooms participating, which includes 31 adults and 18 kids.

I know there were some stragglers who are NOT on the list that want to participate. If you want to, please PM me your information and we will see if we can get you added, I know some people might be able to include you and some people might not.

Hope that everyone had a great 4th of July weekend. Now with the Casey Anthony trial done, I can start focusing my life on packing, might bring some joy to my life.

See everyone in LESS than two weeks!!
