MEET INFORMATION!!

I think the unofficial meet planning committee has finally decided on:

Diversions (Deck 3 Forward)
July 19, 2011
2:30pm

I just "spoke" with my wife's cousin that just got off the cruise on Tuesday. The Muster Drill is actually at 4:00pm, however all services...including bars :drinking1 are suspended at 3:30pm. I think we should stick with the 2:30pm start time.

DW is starting to get worried about driving the whole thing in 1 day (google maps says 18 hours, AAA TripTik says 16 hours), so now I'm trying to find a CHEAP motel along the way...maybe one that charges by the hour? ;)

Not sure you'd want to stay in a motel that charges by the hour. ;)

If you have concierge, do you need a check-in time?

Yes you do but you will get boarding passes 2 or 3 depending what room you have categories 1and 2 rooms go on boarding pass 2 category 3 go on boarding pass 3. Boarding pass 1 is the first family which is a family randomly selected. All of this info was used for the disney dream MV. It may change due to not that many people on board this ship

How soon is too soon?
How many pair of binoculars is too many?
Does anyone really think we'll have "shorts" weather? (my blood's thinned out living in coastal north Carolina...)
:confused3

We are taking a few pairs of shorts. Vancouver seems to be warmer than Alaska and we will wear them there. I am really counting on wearing mostly capris and my fitflops. Am I being too optimistic?

I am trying to get my crew to pull out their long pants, jackets and dress clothes now but the trip is still too far away for them even though we leave in 2 weeks.:sad2:

Hi All!

To answer your question about who is packing... That would be me :). And my friend Barrett's family should be just about done.

Of course they leave sooner than most of us do (less than a day for them) so they have an edge and I guess, owing to their accellerated departure date it might reasonably be argued that instead of packing early, they might actully have procrastenated and are, in fact, packing quite down to the wire.

In my case, I started planning my packing ohhhh... About a year and a half ago:). But I only started putting things into a suitcase a few days ago. And I have started in order of importance, all my FE items, sailaway gifts and things that need to be dropped off at Guest Services are safely stored in their conveyances. Clothes and such, not so much... I hear you about the thinner blood. As a life-long Southern California resident, I am not a fan of the cold.

Currently, in my area we are seeing temps sitting at around 100 degrees and a good portion of our drive will be through similar weather. So it is hard to wrap my head around the idea that I need to put long sleeves, sweaters and the like into my travel bags.

As for binoculars, we are bringing two pair, one for each of us. One is designed primarily for day use and travel (Nikon Travelite series 8/25) and the other are good for both days and evenings but perform a bit better as light diminishes. We have some good friends who are both amateur astronomers of some repute (he even discovered a Super Nova) loaned us the nite binocs and advised onthe purchase of the travel set.

The DH and I both have some pretty deep focus camera lenses (I have one that makes me look like a paparazzi :rotfl2:) which I expect to be getting quite a workout as well.

It truly amazes me to think that after all this waiting, planning and anticipating We only have one more weekend separating my family from departure.

Well, I better get up and start my busy day. We are having our annual 4th of July BBQ here at our house tomorrow so guess who gets to spend today cleaning in preparation:laundy:. Oh lucky, lucky me!

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Tisza

I pulled out the luggage 2 weeks ago but we haven't really started packing till today. I guess we better get it in gear because our flight leaves at 6am this coming Saturday!

You can NEVER have too many pairs of shoes! ;)

I know that's true generally speaking, but I was wondering about packing shoes for Alaska. :rotfl:

All right ladies, just how many pairs of shoes are you all packing for this cruise & any pre or post cruise side trips? :goodvibes

For me 3 shoes for diner and sneakers...not even going to get hiking shoes/sneakers...I'm just going to use my light wt ones. I was going to buy a pair of like running shoes instead of the ones I use everyday that are light wt and wear no socks with. Although I can wear socks with them if need be....but with what we are doing and if they get wet they dry easier...

As for the boys...one pair of sneaks and one pair of dress shoes....same with Billie...well Billie will need a couple dress shoes to match his dress pants. We are not dressing as we have in the past for this cruise....also read that many men have been wearing nice shirts with jeans on this trip in the dinning room...

Shoes take up so much room and weigh a lot....always seem to have a small case with them but at $25 a suitcase we will cut back.

I'm packing light this trip...will just do laundry.

By the way still have not gotten back to my FE...but my house is clean and ready....:lmao: hate coming back after vacation to a messy house....all I have to do now is keep Michael from having the football team over here everyday swimming in the pool....I e to keep an eye on all of them because they are teens that want to do stolid stuff in the pool like riding the scooter off the diving board into the pool or just on to the boogie boards off the diving board...teens...YUCK :rotfl:

We leave tomorrow!! It's 3:30, and we just finished packing. YAY!

Shoes - sneakers for everyone. Nice shoes for dinner, except my 13 yr old son, who is going to wear his sneakers. My daughter & I are bringing nice boots too, to wear with jeans or black slacks.

I was assuming it would be too cold for sandals. ??

Tom, the lanyards look great! Were we on the list? If so, thank you!

I just checked the spreadsheet and saw that I am on the list. Thanks Tom! :dance3:

One more post and I'll be allowed to quote.

What night is formal and semi formal night?

Never mind I found it on page one where I put it under navigators and the navigator week condensed.

Have fun...we leave next Wed.....still no packing but gathering up and shopping for what is still needed....off to Macy's right now :thumbsup2

Happy 4th everyone:cheer2:

I'm dressing also in shorts there....as for jackets we are just bringing sweatshirts and couple long sleeve shirts....rain panchos and small umbrellas...couple pair of jeans and shorts...pair of capris ....Oh bathing suits also...the pool is heated.

When on the ship unless real cold I will be trekking around in shorts....but jeans through Tracy Arm...

I have to say, my daughter and I our bad with shoes :lmao: We will each bring at least 4 extra pairs each. The men will bring flip flops and at least one pair of dress shoes. We usually wear sneakers on the plane. We are flying Cathay Pacific and we are allowed to bring 2 free suitcases each. If we had to pay, we would definitely be cutting back.

We decided the men are not going to bring their suits on this cruise. We will be missing semi-formal night because our excursion will end at 7:30 and we have early dining. It is not worth them bringing suits for just 1 night. They will wear khakis with a nice button down shirt. For dinner they will wear khakis with polo shirts.

My daughter enjoys dressing up and will probably go all out each night. The rest of us will run back to the room and change after dinner ;) I can't walk around in heals all night anymore.:rotfl:
