Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

Hadn't seen that one before. Can't wait till they list the actual shore excursions they're going to offer. I'll probably have sticker shock though.:rotfl:

I have sticker shock already heading up to Whistler first. We are most likely staying at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver and Whistler. Anyone that stays there be sure to get the AAA price...it is soooooooooooo much cheaper. Whats nice is that it is at the cruise ship terminal.

Has anyone noticed how almost all the beds in all the hotels have doubles. You like have a choice of a king or queen or 2 doubles. For us we have 2 boys and DH and no way a double bed will fir 2 together.

Hi,

Has anybody checked into doing the Rocky Mountaineer Whistler Sea to Sky Climb? It's a 3-hour ride each way with a few hours in Whistler. We could do this on one day and then see sights in Vancouver on the other day prior to boarding the ship.

Thanks,

Lisa

Yes and we are.....we are taking that up...staying 3 days and heading back on the bus. My research has also concluded with....Dont bother taking the "Dome" ...just take the "Classic"....not worth the extra money. This is from response not just from the concierge at the hotels I checked with but also from many reviews that I have read.

the reviews have been favorable on the day trip. Some have taken the train up and bus back...some have taken the both ways on the train....some going one way on the classic and other way in the Dome...some have taken the train than the plane back.

our game plan is to do 3 days in Whistler....2.5 days in Vncouver. Getting ready to make all the arrangements as we speak.

Thanks your quick reply and for the advice on not paying the extra money for the Dome. I looked for reviews, but didn't find any. Did you find them on this board or somewhere else? I wish we had more than one day, but we also want to see some of the sights in Vancouver. Our flight arrives on July 16 (around 1:00 p.m.), so that just leaves us 1/2 day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday to get it all in.

I found the reviews on the Internet...I think on places like trip-advisor and a bunch of others. Also asked the hotels there opinions. I will see if I can hunt down some for you. Some said it was worth the extra money but most said it was not. The reviews said that you will spend about 30 minutes the whole trip sitting down and the rest sight seeing in the open car. The breakfast is better on the Dome but not worth the extra money.

I say if ya have the extra money to spend than go for it...but if not than dont. Or take the Dome on the way up and the classic on the way back :thumbsup2 Than ya get the best of both worlds...also I wrote down what side is best to be seated....I think on the way up the Left side and back the right side....so you dont see just the mountain....you can also call and they will tell you.

If you can only do the day trip I say go for it...the reviews for it were good...

Well I finally booked my flight. I was going to use my Delta skymiles but they are such a joke. We have over 86,000 pts/skymiles and they say they have no black out dates but they raise the fee up so high that it is not worth it.

so through price line I booked our flight for $305 a piece everything but luggage included. The same exact flight was $445 dollars a person or like 40,000 in points. So when added up I would use 40,000 pts and save only $50 difference because of the increase in the flights.

Than I was going to use the pay as you go way....had 2 choices to use for flying that would be less....if we flew out at 6am.....and back at 6:30 on the 26th...that would have only been $800...but they were long flights....not to mention the times stink.

Also when given a price to fly through Delta for the same flight in cash and not using any sky miles or going through Delta skymiles....they were going to charge me $347.00....for the same flight costing me $305 dollars on Priceline......have I mentioned I hate Delta...:lmao:

anyway...total for the 4 of us is $1222.00....not bad considering when I started looking at flights months ago it was over $2000 bucks. so still saved.

WE leave SD at 12:10 pm---arrive LA at 12:59----fly out of LA at 2:30----arrive Vancouver at 5:30

Return:

Leave vancouver at 1:20-----arrive LA at 4:20-----fly out of LA at 6:40----arrive San Diego at 7:27

Have i mentioned I hate flying Delta :scared1:

Next is booking the hotel.....will do that tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good week...sure wish it was Friday!! :lmao:

We're having a good week. Our 3 teen sons enjoyed their homecoming dance on Saturday night. We watched Football on Sunday. Today is (DH) Allen's 48th birthday and we're going to celebrate with dinner out tomorrow night.

Then there is (DS) Robby & I packing for our WDW/Disney Wonder B2B cruise which we leave for a week from tomorrow. :goodvibes I'd say we're having a very good week. I hope everyone else is having a good one too!:thumbsup2

We just booked our Victoria stay throuh DVC and RCI so now I just have to cancel the Pan Pacific post cruise. DS is looking at wedding reception halls. I think they've decided on July 2012. Now they are down to the final details, so decision should be soon.

Congrats Maryann! So exciting! I'm not sure if I told everyone but my oldest DD will be marrying on 10-1-11 next fall in Atlantic City, NJ!:goodvibes

Just got off the phone with my relative in Oregon and we've been trying to haggle out what we will be doing. We're thinking of flying to Portland, OR, seeing their home and then driving up with them to Vancouver the weekend before the trip. I'll be checking out flights and trying to make our final decisions. They are Cindi and Dave and I'm trying to get them to join these boards.......so look for them.......:woohoo:

So..........please tell me where we should be staying in Vancouver the night before the trip (which hotel is the closest to the port) or is the view/location more important?? :confused3

What is the number one place to visit in Vancouver if we just have one day?

Any help would be appreciated!!!
