Thanks so much... so lucky to meet Elizabeth Mitchell, loved her in Lost! Also, awesome pics, we will be doing the helicopter to the glacier in August too! One time the DCL staff made me Indian food (off the menu) too, it was spicy but great!
Yes, there was pirate night but no pirate menu...at least according to the Navs...we didn't go to the dining room that night. And there was a pirate buffet (in Beach Blanket!) and a pirate show on deck. I did see people dressing up but not to the extent that I saw in Bahamas/Mexico. But like I said, I didn't go to the dining room that night and stayed far away from any festivities...that is always our early night!! HATE pirate night!!

Did you specifically ask for Indian foor or did you ask for something spicy? Just curious how this came up for you as I was astounded that they did this when my husband casually mentioned he wished their was a curry dish onboard!!

The head server was Indian, and I am a vegetarian and we got to talking about how awesome Indian food is for vegetarians because of the variety. The next night, I had a special meal that was brought out for me from the kitchen. They also brought me the meal that I ordered off the menu, so I had quite a feast. I got some little sampler nibbles of Indian food a couple of other nights too (not an entire entree size). It was pretty cool!
Okay, on to Ketchikan!! Our last, and favorite stop!! We ported in the morning and had a few hours to kill before our zipline excursion...so we hopped in a taxi ($18) and went to Saxman Totem Pole Park. ($5 each...). Um, nice totems...wait!! TAXI!!! WAIT!!!! Too late, wandered around looking at the 12 or so totems, looked through the overpriced gift shop and called a taxi to take us back..another $18. DO NOT go here on your own...too expensive and NOT worth it.
DH prayed for a sunny day and he got it!! It was beautiful...cool but sunny!
We met our zipline excursion at 1:45pm. Promptly we were off to the bus for about a 15 minute ride to the rainforest. We passed Saxman Totem Pole Park on the way and the bus slowed and stopped so we could get a look!! DOH!!!
We got to the raiforest sanctuary, jumped in a unimog (imagine a jeep style hummer with LOTS of seat!) and UP, very steeply UP to the gear up area. We were geared up (there are restrooms here FYI) in our harnesses, helmets and gloves. Off to the zips!! We were given the 10 minute training speech and then had a very short and low to the ground training zip. That was it, we were ready!! SUPER FUN!! Many zips, 3 suspension bridges, lots of fun with the guides...they pointed out lots of interesting nature facts including a floating tree...gotta see it to understand! Anyone can do the zips if you are in moderately decent shape. You don't have to be super strong or coordinated or anything. You DO have to be daring and ready for fun!! We loved this. We have lots of pics of this. When you are done, they take your picture on the last zip and a group photo, both available for purchase. Finally, they have a super big and AFFORDABLE gift shop...t-shirts for $16!! Great for tourist prices!! A few snacks and drinks...and we were on our way back to the ship.
I would recommend this excursion...we just loved it!! The views were amazing from up there and it was just downright FUN!!
