ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Piikea, it is the one in the food court for the Canada Place:)

Thanks Paula. I am gonna note it in my book.

I just found out on another thread that you can do ABD separate! I was originally looking at this but was told by a CM that everyone in the cabin had to be on it. And of course, M/D not being huge Disney fans :sad2: weren't interested. Now I may have to rethink my plans:scared1: Oh My!

Okay ~ I guess I am just gonna have to do another DCL Alaska  and do my ABD then. Too much will overlap the time I will have with my parents and since they don't wanna do it, I am just gonna have to suck it up and take another cruise.:lmao:

I am not packing a lot of really warm stuff. I have a wool hoodie vest that I am bringing, 1 turtle neck a few l/s tees & the hoodie with our logo, & some gloves. A couple pairs of jeans & capris. If by chance it is really cold, I'll just purchase something in port. Seems like Tracy Arm day has been the coldest for each cruise so far and I can tough it out for 1 day:) I did purchase some fleece that I am going to try to make scarves for my travel party--hopefully I'll find some time to play with those--If not the receipt is with it in the bag and I'll just return the supplies:rolleyes1

I keep figuring that it will get a degree or 2 warmer with each cruise:goodvibes

I wonder if I'm going a bit overboard worrying about what to pack. We live in Hawaii and most of my things have been in storage for the last three years, so I had to buy a few things. Plus winter clothes take up so much space in the suitcase!! The last two Disney cruises we just drove to the port, so much easier! No worries on overpacking and such. :)

Since we are in NJ, I think we have enough pieces of clothing for layering. I do want to get us each a good rain jacket that will allow for layers underneath. I plan to bring one pair of shoes for dinner and 2 pairs of sneakers. I am also willing to do laundry while onboard to keep packing to a minimum.

I just finished my purchases through Cafe Press. With our dis group cruise logo, I ordered and personalized 2 of the travel mugs and with just the logo I personalized 2 hooded sweatshirts. I was able to enlarge the picture for the back; I'm keeping my fingers crossed it prints well. I will attempt to post pictures when they arrive.

I finished our online check-in on Wednesday. I picked boarding time between 1 and 1:30 since we have our room until 2.

Don't worry too much. I am planning on taking 3 pairs of jeans and 3 long sleeve t shirts and 3 short sleeve t-shirts (give or take:rotfl:). I may have 1 pair of shorts for hanging out in the cabin and 2 yoga type pants for the gym.

As for jackets - I have gone to Ross and Goodwill and Savers to check theirs out. I am gonna layer more - long underwear long sleeve shirt, long sleeve t shirt, short sleeve t shirt and sweatshirt so that I can take stuff off if it gets too warm. You might wanna make sure you have a hat to cover your ears from the wind and possibly gloves. I remember when we did the train and yukon it was very cold for us hawaiians.

In fact it was colder in december 2010 at disney world in florida than in alaska august 2009! We had at least 5 layers on top and my sister actually wore 2 pairs of jeans one day there it was so cold (they had record temps).

I was just gonna use the rain gear we got at WDW in March (when it was pouring and hurricane conditions:)) that they sell for $7 bucks and just layer as I told MGibson301.

I would very much love to see what your sweatshirts look like. I bought some red t-shirts for us and am gonna press iron the logo on it. (I know, I'm cheap but M/D will never wear it after this trip and I couldn't see spending the money but wanted them to participate;)).

I am still waiting on them for their information to finish my online check in. Does anyone now if the boarding times close like the excursions do if they get too full?

Been to WDW 3 times in December and it was very cold twice and 80 degrees once. It is so hit and miss with the weather somethimes.

They will turn out great, I am sure:) We have always had a few people in our cruise groups do their own shirts instead of ordering.

I believe it does. But I really don't think they are "enforcing" the check in times for Alaska. There are always going to be people that won't/don't do the online check in so they wouldn't even know about a time to come. It was done to control the massive crowding with the Dream and the Fantasy (come on June 2012:goodvibes).

Winter clothes are more bulky than summer ones. How long have you been in Hawaii? Which island do you live on?

I debated hard about purchasing a nice rain coat, but the rain ponchos won out. I also considered some of that spray on water repellent.

I bet your shirts and mugs turn out great, can't wait to see your pics!:goodvibes

We live on Oahu, DH is Army but we are living on Hickam AFB. He's a space operations officer. We have been lucky to live here for three years and are staying for one more. :lovestruc I have a Patagonia rain jacket and a thinner NF jacket that I may bring and layer under it. I'm a wimp. DH is totally not worried about it. We did a baltic cruise a few years ago and it was cool on that too. No hanging out on the deck at night like the Caribbean cruises.

Hi MagicFan!! Quite a challenge to find winter clothes here, huh! And in the summer no less. I just need some long sleeve tshirts now to layer and I think I'm good. I'm going to die wearing real shoes for over a week! :) I'm excited to have some cooler weather though...

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:We can still hang out on the decks at night, just have to put our thick skin on. But I do know I am not bringing the cordless blender this trip:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Michelle, you & Piikea can have a mini meet before the cruise, she is in Oahu too:) I've really enjoyed our vacations to Hawaii--going again in 2013:thumbsup2:banana::banana::banana: It must be so nice to call it home:) How did you like the Baltic cruise? I have a friend that went and she said it was awesome!!

My wife and I are also thinking of returning to Hawaii in 2013 :yay: we did two NCL cruises in March 2005 and again in Sept 2006 what beautiful islands  that place!
I do hope Disney will make Hawaii a yearly cruise.....you can put us down as booked for that.

Bob, I am really looking forward to going back. It is a shame that vacation time and vacation dollars only go so far each year:confused3 We've never cruised in Hawaii always divided up the trip to be on 2 different islands. DVC spoiled us with our 1st stay on the Big Island at the Mauni Lani Resort---it was wonderful using points for our 8 nights and only $75 fee:goodvibes.
2013 we are looking at DVC on Oahu and renting a house on another island. There will be 5 couples going, hopefully it all works out. I was on the Aulani site and Disney sure is asking a premium for their rooms there for booking with cash. I don't know if they priced them that way to entice more members or if they really feel that a 2 bedroom is going to bring them $2500 a night:scared1: Just CRAZY!!!!!!

Well, I sure am not getting any work done playing on the computer, hope everyone has a great day!!!!!:goodvibes
