ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Not sure I am in the right thread (there were two?) but thought I would jump in here and you all would direct me to the right place.

I am cruising with my parents on the August 30th sailing from Vancouver.
It will be my second Disney cruise and their first. We usually travel as our immediate family (Mom, Dad, Sis and Me) but she can't make this trip and it is my big century celebration! Dad's BD will be on board and mine is in October.

I haven't done meets before on DIS just cruise critic but can't find one for this cruise there nor on the passporter board so am happy to see this one.

I would like to participate in the activities please....my parents probably will not but I am going to drag them to some stuff (i.e. sail away party) kicking and screaming. They complain prior but then once there enjoy themselves.

I am not sure how to PM my information and am not sure what you need. I know that we have second seating for dinner and a verandah cabin.

I would like to participate in the Fish Extender but am not sure how (still researching this one).

I did check out the FB page (are you still doing this as I am always on FB?)

Already excited reading the blogs and looking forward to this cruise on Disney (I have been on Alaska cruise but on Princess).

Mahalo!

I still am waiting on another 50% off code for www.zazzle.com I'll be sure and post it when I get another one.

Tracy I ended up moving to the Pan Pacific also with Hotwire. Aug 28-30 booked 3 rooms for the 6 of us, we won't have as much room as 2- 2 bedrooms at Sutton Place but you can't beat the convenience of being right there at the port and way less hassle in the morning with the luggage. I put the insurance on it because of prepaying but it was $988.67 (US) total, compared to $1481.58 (CAD). So it saved quite a bit even losing the $125 Vancouver card. :goodvibes

Glad I could help out by letting you know about the deal. Maybe we will bump into each other before the cruise.:thumbsup2

Welcome to the group. I am on CC too there is a roll call on there for this cruise but there is not much going on on it.

Thanks for the welcome...I will have to check the cruise critic again then, don't know how I missed it except that if it is quiet it might be down the page...

My parents will not be doing any excursions this trip since this will be their third or fourth cruise to Alaska. They are the cruisers in our family mainly on Princess.

I am not sure if I am going to do any excursions in Skagway. I am thinking about the Whale Encounter with Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau and the Disney Lumberjack Show special in Ketchikan.

I ordered my fish extender! I am not crafty so decided that this would be best. It is a Pooh design. I am excited! Almost went overboard and ordered two.

What kind of things do we share? Anything? How often?

The only thing I am hoping to do is to make my Palo reservation for brunch.

I read somewhere that they only do brunch on sea days. Is this true? Then at least I can plan.

Would they consider Tracy Arm a sea day?

Aloha and welcome aboard, Dis boards are a great place to meet new folks & for lots of info about the cruise. You're folks will love being on a Disney cruise even though they have taken Alaskan cruises before.

i read the info from the discussion on Pan Pacific and Hotwire--and was able to book for $135 on August 29. I'm so grateful for the tip that I decided to join the group. This is our first Disney cruise. Would like to participate in the FE but wanted to know typically how many goodies do you need to bring?

I would say that yes, Tracy Arm would be considered a sea day for Palo. They were open for the Panama Canal day. But we won't know for sure until our booking window opens or if someone wants to pop in and ask another thread from an earlier cruise.

Did you get your FE from on Ebay? There are a couple disser's on there that sell them. They are really nice. On the Panama canal cruise in 2008 one of my friends from the cruise made FE for about 10 of us. Mine always hangs on the closet door in the kitchen as a catch all for papers until it is time to pack it up for a cruise. It also gives my kitchen a touch of Disney:goodvibes

As far as sharing, whatever you'd like to share with us is perfectly ok. We aren't a very big group for sure. There are several people on the roster that we haven't heard from in a long time. I'll probably wait until the 1st of June and pm them to see if they are still coming.

We will propbably need to set a date for sometime in July to close out the FE list, but we can decide that as it gets closer. It's been really nice that we have had some new disser's join our thread.

Today is Derby day, are any of you planning on watching the race? I need to head into work in a bit---need to leave before the bank closes to get quarters for one of the stores. This is the 2nd year in a row that Alan & I haven't had a house full of people here for the Derby. We had a party for 23 years and stopped having them last year. It just got to be too much, but it also makes for a quiet day around here. None of our family or neighbors picked up the tradition:sad2: We are having family over for Mother's Day tomorrow, so Alan has been getting the deck cleaned off and the patio furniture all spruced up from the winter time.

Hope everyone has a great day, I will have a busy one at work:)

Just curious if there are any platinum CC members who have started booking excursions yet? I think Gold are soon as well. Curious as to what may already be full be they time us silver can start making reservations.

Welcome Aboard!!!!! I will send you a pm later this evening. That is a great rate on the Pan Pacific---glad you could take advantage of it:cool1:.

For the FE you can either do it as a stateroom family gift or a gift to each person, there really aren't any set rules. I think back in the earlier posts Des posted a picture of a ton of gifts on her bed. So far we are a very managable group. I have been on cruises where there were over 200 staterooms and that's where it can get a little challenging trying to manage logistics.

PJ, I get to book the 16th or 17th and I will be glad to answer any questions as to what's available or times. I have a friend that is on one in July, but I keep forgetting to ask her.

Well, I need to get moving or I'll never make it to work.:goodvibes

Thanks! We'll actually be Gold as soon as we step off the Dream May 30 which gives us one day to book before Silvers can start so we need to figure everything out before our Dream cruise. ;-)

Just checked Hotwire after reading about everyone getting Pan Pacific. I'm scared to bid and not get it but love the price! I see a $134 rate for 5 star in Vancouver west with 90% recommended which sounds right but don't know who to tell if it might be Sutton Place. Anything else I should look for? Do we know what Sutton Place's recommendation is?

PJ, that's the Pan Pacific!. The Sutton Place has 80%. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!:cool1:
