I am no where near that ready:eek: Wish I could be though. :rotfl: I know the luggage weights can really be a bear--when we flew from Paris to Barcelona I had to pay 215 Euros for my excess baggage:sad2:

I am working at least the next 3 nights on 3rd shift at one of the stores. Some of my employees are coming up with some crazy things, so I need to set them straight. I don't know where they get off making their own rules up. Seems like after they are there for a long time they kind of get that way. I am really glad that I have long term employees though, guess it is a tradeoff.

Thanks for posting this. I had thought I had "favorite"ed it but didn't so am happy you shared!

Did I share? Right now this is what I am thinking about...all through Disney since I will probably be the only one doing excursions. Mom and Dad will be on their fourth or fifth trip to Alaska and have decided to just enjoy the ride.

Skagway - probably the original street car tour at 8:30am so I can have the rest of the time to meander in town. When I went last time I didn’t have enough time to walk around town. BUT I haven't totally decided because I kinda like the City Tour, jewell gardens and glass factory tour also.

Juneau – Whale Encounter with Mendenhall Glacier at 7:45am

Ketchikan – Disney Lumberjack Show at 4:30p

My new luggage finally arrrived Friday:)

This should be easy to spot whne we have to retrieve our luggage:):lmao:

Sounds fun! I have had the hardest time deciding on excursions. I guess it's the fact that I don't plan on cruising Alaska again----(I'll probably change my mind after I see the scenery!)

But as of right now, this is what I am booking

Skagway--CARCROSS YUKON & EMERALD LAKE through Dyea Dave Tours
Hoping to add lunch and will more than likely add the train for the return, they said we could decide that afternoon.

Juneau--TAKU GLACIER LODGE FLIGHT AND FEAST --through Shore trips

Ketchikan--KETCHIKAN CITY AND SAXMAN TOTEM VILLAGE TOUR --through Shore trips and then plan to see the lumber jack show. I bought the lumberjack tickets online for the 4:45 pm Disney exclusive show. They were 35 for adults & 17.50 for kids

I have been checking out the Disney store sales for a few pieces but decided against it. I luv your set!

Did you get it thru Disney or eBay?

Our Disney store has gotten really junk and doesn't carry neat stuff like this anymore...just t-shirts (and not much in adult sizes) and just the usual children's items. Every once in a while I might get lucky but not since they moved loction within the mall (downsized).

I have read positive things about Dyea Dave's tours so am sure you will enjoy that one.

I am thinking of doing a walking tour but can't find the website that I read about it...so still looking.

Are you planning on the Disney lumberjack show or one at another time? I tried to do it on my own with their website but they have taken all that information down now (and I was there just last month and saw it then).

Very cute, but I'm afraid to ask how much they were. ;)

I actually got it from www.Ideeli.com I get their daily emails and it was a bargain compared to what I had been looking at so I jumped at it a couple weeks ago. Still more than I usually pay for luggage, so I am hoping that I get a lot of use out of it. The airlines are brutal when it comes to your luggage.

I did purchse for the Disney show on their website just this morning. So look again, it is there. www.lumberjackshows.com You just pick the tickets up that day, they don't mail them

We will probably walk around Ketchikan, I think I read you can catch a bus to the totem village. I have been trying to read the boards to see which excursions people were happy with on the 1st cruise and which ones they didn't care for.

Don't know what web site I was at but this sure didn't look like it. I appreciate your sharing.

I am hoping to hear if they have characters otherwise I am not sure I will do it. May change my mind tho since I know you all are planning to:)

I got my answer so if anyone is interested the DCL show is just child interactive with no characters.

Doesn't look as if I've shared our excursions list over here yet - so here goes!

Skagway - Fri 2 Sep: the Best of Skagway tour thru Disney. We'd been looking at the White Pass & Yukon train excursion already, and for not a whole lot more, this tour offers the train & bus combo trip, time at Liarsville Camp with lunch & a show, and a visit to the Red Onion Saloon. It will take almost all our time in Skagway, but I think we'll enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, we can't book this til 16 Jun (being DCL newbies) - so we may have to have a Plan B if all the spots are taken.

Juneau - Sat 3 Sep: We want to go whale watching, but haven't quite decided if we're going with a Disney tour or booking independently - have sent a few inquiry e-mails out to local companies. I'd really like to go up Mt. Roberts Tramway as well - everything I've read says to wait til that day to buy tix to see if the weather is worth the trip. Hoping to make it over to the Mendenhall Glacier as well, but that may be squeezing too much into our semi-short port day.

Ketchikan- Sun 4 Sep: Island Wings Air Service Misty Fjords 2.0 Hour tour at 3:50. Island Wings was very highly rated on Trip Advisor & offered both a longer flight than the Disney tours as well as a chance to exit the plane upon landing (vs standing on the floats). This was Scott's "must-do" & since they're a single-plane company, we wanted to book relatively early. I wish we could have gotten an earlier flight, but since we don't arrive til 1:40, they may not have had one available. At least this gives us a chance to look around town for a little bit beforehand.

Thanks for the tip! How many are in yoru party? Did you book an exclusive flight?

We're a party of 4 & it looks like the plane only seats 6. It's not an exclusive flight tho, if another couple wants to join us!

There would probabaly only be 2 of us (can't decide if 5 yr old would like this or not). Will definitely keep it in our options!

On a complete separate note, does anyone know how close DCL will allow us to book excursions? For example, if an excursion is schedueld to end at noon, could we make one that starts at 12:30? 12:45? 1?

Tracey, that all sounds fun! I'd love to do the plane ride in Ketchican---sounds like a wonderful trip:goodvibes

PJ, that was a gripe that they have mentioned with booking on DCL. I don't know what the allowed time difference has to be. I'd call DCL and ask them. It would sure beat getting frustrated online when you are trying to book them.
