ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Just sent a PM to A Little Pixie Dust - but thought I'd post here as well.

My husband Scott and I are going on this cruise as part of my 40th birthday celebration (I'm 6 months older than WDW, give or take a few days) - and I've been poring over cruise threads here & on other Disney fan boards... just PIF this week!

We're still trying to decide if we want to participate in the Fish Extender swap - we were thinking of including buttons to promote our podcast (Disney, Indiana) in with the goodies - is that kosher?

Welcome! You are a only few months older than my DH then too!! Happy Birthday! Anything in the FE is fine! It is for fun first and foremost! On our last cruise we had everything from bookmarks from one of the other cruisers bookstore to band-aids to hand knit water bottle holders (very cool!)
So really anything is ok!

We are so looking forward to this trip!! We were able to get a handicapped room for my parents and 93 year old grandma (they really needed it) so I am so excited that things are coming together! We are PIF and looking forward to making excursion reservations and PALO!!!

I did the final payment for my group yesterday. Our flights are booked and hoping to get Aug. 29th hotel booked today.:thumbsup

That's great Tracy!!! Always nice to get things crossed off the to do list:)

I sent pm's to Alohabob and Politzania to get their information for our group list.

Trying to do my end of the month work, but gonna take a break and watch Desperate Housewives and Brother & Sisters. Ketchup with you later:)

The rest of my gang are now booked in the Pan Pacific Hotel Aug. 29-30:thumbsup2 Thanks to Hotwire.

I got my room for 2 Adults and 1 kid for $175.76 total.

Deb and her gang got 2 rooms 4 Adults and 1 kid for $330.03
:dance3:

:goodvibes Have a great day everyone!!!! :goodvibes

Let's see what I can manage to get crossed off my list this week. It's Derby week here in Louisville, so it's going to be really BUSY at work. But I am really looking forward to all the fans coming to our city to enjoy the horses. They had to cancel the Great Steamboat race for Wednesday because the river is too high and lots of debri, but it looks like a nice day for the parade on Thursday and no rain in the forecast for Saturday. :cool1:

Greetings all! Finally have power back after last week's tornados. Have SO much catching up to do!

For those who were successful booking Pan Pacific on Hotwire - can you offer any tips to know it's Pan Pacific before committing? Thanks again!

This website helped me out a lot. http://www.betterbidding.com/ I did not know for sure it would be Pan Pacific but I had a 50-50 chance thanks to the betterbidding site.

According to the site Pan Pacific is listed as a 5* with Restarunt, Pool, Fitness, Hi-speed interent, Buisness and Spa.

But the Sutton Place Vancouver is some times listed as the same thing. So I was 99.99% sure thanks to betterbidding that it would be the Pan Pacific or Sutton Place. I wanted Pan Pacific and after I paid sure enough that was the hotel.

From what I read on betterbidding is that the Pan Pacific has a better recommendation % than the Sutton. The one I bid on said it had Recommended in 90%

Hello, Everyone. We are PIF as of Monday!!!! Yippeee!!!! Now, the hard part; trying to decide on excursions and making those all-important Palo reservations. Oh, and I guess we still need to make hotel and flight reservations.

So much to do, so little time.

Final Payment in !!!! Now if I was just higher up on the ladder to make reservations. For those of you who are let us know how they go. Have a great week everyone. And I can't wait to hear back from the first Alaska cruise.

PJ, did you all have any damage from the tornados? They videos and pictures were so awful.

Had to pull up the DCL site to see when I can book. May 17th----and no one in group has made any decisions:( Frankly I am finding it more and more irritating. But I am really looking forward to this trip and I can't wait to read some of the trip reports that will be coming soon.

Have a great evening:goodvibes

I have traveled before with a group and waited for them to decided what they are doing and then what I wanted to do would be all booked. This time I am booking ours and if the rest of the group want to come to then they can book when they make up there minds but this time I am not missing out.

Thanks for asking! We are all fine and safe. We lost a few trees, but not on the house and we lost power for 7 days so had to clean out the fridge and restock, but that's nothing compared to so many near us.

Tracy, I won't miss out.;) The only one I am looking at outside of DCL is the Dyea Daves everything else I can book at gold level. I am trying to figure out if I want to bite the bullet and do the helicopters, planes and dogs---I know none of the others will do those. But I haven't exactly figured out if it is in my budget either.

PJ, that's good to hear. Being without power for a week sure isn't fun. We went through that one winter with an ice storm.

Brenda & Kimberly, congrats on the PIF:cool1: Seems like we are all getting some things crossed off our to do lists.:)

PJ, that's good to hear. Being without power for a week sure isn't fun. We went through that one winter with an ice storm.

It wasn't too rough - the power literally went out as we were backing our of our driveway (knew because garage door wouldn't close) to head to FL for the Shuttle launch (which didn't happen). Unfortunately, we drove straight into the storms and had to take refuge in a car wash waiting for it to pass. Lucky we did as we found out a tornado blew right through where we would have been driving and the highway was closed due to damage. It took us 8 hours to get to Atlanta that night (usually a 3.5 hour drive) but at least we were safe.

Due to the extended power outage, we just extended our stay in FL, visited family and spent a couple unexpected days at AKV. The WDW Cast Members took SUCH good care of us! When anyone asks why we like Disney so much, all we will have to do is tell them of our unexpected tornado visit.

Great story, sounds like you found a good place for cover!!! I do think that for the most part Disney has great customer service. We've never stayed at the AKV yet, glad to hear they treated you so nice:)

Tracy I ended up moving to the Pan Pacific also with Hotwire. Aug 28-30 booked 3 rooms for the 6 of us, we won't have as much room as 2- 2 bedrooms at Sutton Place but you can't beat the convenience of being right there at the port and way less hassle in the morning with the luggage. I put the insurance on it because of prepaying but it was $988.67 (US) total, compared to $1481.58 (CAD). So it saved quite a bit even losing the $125 Vancouver card. :goodvibes
