Alaska 06/11/12 Anyone Sailing ?

I know this is crazy but for some reason I am excited and nervous! I am not sure why. Maybe it the new experience which is sort of out of my comfort zone? Or the fact that it finally hit me we are leaving in 20 days?

Back when we booked this cruise in Sept. I was SO excited and it's ALL I could think about. Now....I'm more nervous than excited and I hate it. I don't know if I just burned myself out over thinking and planning but I really hope the excitement returns. Soon!:headache:

I'm beyond excited at this point. I can't focus on anything without doing a happy dance every 10 minutes! We finally broke down and told the kids about 2 weeks ago. I'm glad I did cause they didn't quite have the reaction I was expecting but they're excited now too. I got all my kid FE gifts packed in a suitcase and both boys packed. That just leaves me and hubby to pack and to finish my FE gifts for the ladies and figure something out for the men. :cool1:

I know what you're talking about. I booked this cruise clear back in July. I'm still excited to go, but I'm getting very nervous about the flight. I've never been on a plane for this long before, and I'm nervous about the ship. Again, never been on one before so have no point of reference. I keep trying to think of the things I'm excited about and not dwell on the ones that are making me nervous. I'm sure once it gets here (SOON!!) I'll be more excited than ever!!!!! It's also not helping me that so far I've had dreams of the ship sinking and our whale excursion vessel being capsized by a humpback whale?:confused3

Plwilliams & Grumpymom..I know that is the problem I am having too. At least it is good to know that it must be natural! I guess for most of us this is such a new and different experience and a very far trip from home! I know it will be a blast we just have to get through the anxiety of the next few days:grouphug:

Uh...that's reassuring...ROFL considering me and Jeremy are on that same whale-watching tour with you...:worried: We will all be fine, even if it did capsize we would have life jackets and coast guard procedure, we would be perfectly fine! I keep watching all of the safety checks that Captain Greg does on his facebook page! It is making me feel very confident, AND there is also a video on youtube of his boat on a whale watching tour ;) You should check that out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX6c3Lo4dqQ

No need for any of us to be nervous! This is going to the the trip of a lifetime! We have all come too far to be nervous now...LOL Just NO watching Titanic...ANY of you! I mean it!:rotfl2:

Thanks everyone. It's nice to know I'm not alone. :grouphug: I think back in the beginning it was easy to focus on the fun and now we have to think about all the other stuff. Flights, packing, what do we have to bring, what should we leave behind,.....etc.

Pixie08 I think you are so right. It is a new experience and a little scary, but that is what will make so many great memories. We all just need to take a breath and relax....or at least try. :rotfl:

snufflekitty Wow sounds like you are "cruising" right along.
I have named this Saturday Try On Day in our house. I bought so many of our clothes months ago and we had better try everything on again before it goes in the suitcase. Then I can start the laundry and hopefully the packing.

My kids want to know if the hotel has it on their Pay-Per-View so they can watch it the night before we sail. My husband claims he needs to save room in his suitcase for a headboard. And the sweetie that he is says he is sure he can fit 2 people on it. If not.....I'm on my own! He hates cold water. :rotfl2:

Our little world was turned upside-down the other day...we had to put our 9-year old chocolate lab down because of a tumor. We were so sad, and then my husband went out and got a puppy to keep the other dog company. SOOO...we are house-training her, and I'm worried that I'm going to be thinking "how is the puppy doing" during the whole cruise!!

I'm with ya, ladies, about first being excited and now wondering if I can get it all done! Trying to get through it one day at a time, but I don't even know if any of my shoes are waterproof!! Guess there's only one way to find out! :rotfl:

So sorry about your lab. Pet losses are often hardest, because they feel like family but not everyone understands that.

The last two years we boarded our cat somewhere that was... adequate. Barely. I made arrangements with a different place this year, and we're all hoping our kitty is happier and we worry less about her while we're gone.

As for the waterproof shoes - if they aren't as waterproof as you'd like, go buy a can of that water repellent stuff they sell in shoe stores and leather retailers and spray them really good. Some of the items we're taking are water resistant, and that's my plan for increasing their effectiveness for repelling water.

I am so about your lab! I am sure your new puppy will be ok, at least it has some company. We always worry about leaving out little kitty too.:cat:

Andrea, thank you so much for the utube link to see Captain Greg and the whale watching. I am officially EXCITED again for this trip!!!!

So sorry! :grouphug:

I just re-confirmed our dog's hotel reservations. :thumbsup2 We have used the same place for the last few years but I just heard from a friend that their neighbors's dog came home infested with fleas. I thought about finding a new place but I'm nervous leaving him in a new place for so long. Guess we will stick with the place I know he loves and hope for the best. I looked into the kennel that is at WDW, but holy expensive!! Of course they would also take the guinea pig....for the low cost of $12 a day. Thankfully my DS's GF is taking care of that for us.

You are so welcome! I'm glad you are excited for the trip again! I know we sure are!

Lukikam,
I am so glad my mother is house sitting for us while we are gone, we have 4 dogs and a bird, and I cannot imagine how much it would cost us to board all of them, so sorry for your loss, I know how hard that is :(

I have been double checking all of my budget numbers, (if anyone was planning on going to Tracy's Crab Shack in Juneau, their prices went way up this season, last season it was $99 for a 3lb bucket of crab, this year it is $129.95 sheesh, I know crab is expensive but whoa),itinerary details, making sure I have everything in order! Countdown Status for us is now 21 days until we leave for Seattle! :woohoo:

I have also been watching the weather in all the port cities everyday, It is still on the chillier side of things compared to the average highs in the upper 50's low 60's...lately it has been highs in the upper 40s, lower 50s, and lows in the 30s. Its also been raining pretty much nonstop, I guess it is just another reminder for us to pack warm clothes and rain gear :)

Maybe the warmer, dryer weather is just waiting for the Wonder to arrive!:thumbsup2
