Alamo & Quick Silver -- Do you need to link your reservation?

We made our Alamo reservation several months ago and managed to get a great rate. Since then we have added a coupon (does not include an additional driver) and have signed up for Quick Silver. (Thanks to everyone who has given advice on this topic! :sunny: )

My question: Do we need to modify our reservation to link it up with our new Quick Silver number, or can we just bring our reservation paperwork and our Quick Silver paperwork to the garage booth? We'll do anything to avoid the terminal desk, but we don't want to lose our great rate.

Thanks for your help!

You will need to link them if you plan to bypass the terminal counter and head to the booth in the garage. Otherwise, they will send you all the way back to the terminal.

how do you link them, i signed up for QS and went to modify my resv and there is no place for my qs number

Double check your rates first! Essentially, you will be cancelling your old reservation & booking a new one. So if the new rates are higher that is what you will pay. You add the coupon on the reservation page.
* there are two "avoid the counter" things at Alamo.
1. quick silver you go out to the counter at the garage.
2. check in online...bypass the outside counter too, but if you are using a coupon you cannot do the online checkin.

ok, so if you did not use qs on your original resv, can you still bypass the counter and go to the garage and give them your resv and you qs number

No you cannot. You can call them and they should be able to add the additional information. Then you can bypass the counter.

As previous posted mentioned, no you cannot bypass the counter and add your quick silver number.

Also, I have tried MANY times to add a clients quick silver number after the reservation has already been made. It can be done...however... you are subject to what that current rate is. ex. if you booked at $120 and the current rate is $150 you will have to pay the $150... :sunny:

I am in the same siyuation as SmileMom. When I called Alamo they gave me the same adviceI am seeing here with one exception.....t :confused3 hey said there was a Quick Silver line at MCO's main Alamo desk. They also said that I could show my *********** there and should not have to wait in the usual line at the desk. Does anyone know whether there is actually a Quick Silver line at MCO as they informed me? :confused3

I just did that too a few days ago when I realized that I couldn't add it on line. Never figured they would change my reservation quote too. I hope they contact us first before they do that. I haven't heard back from them but it was a holiday weekend. :goodvibes

I have NEVER had that happen to me with any of my reservations. There is a way around that increase, you just have to pray the person doing it knows what they are doing. I usually end up talking to the station manager at Orlando or Tampa.

Yes, they do have a QS line at MCO, both A&B sides of the airport.

Thanks ldwjr! I assume that the QS line is usually shorter and probably moves quicker than the standard line as well. Rather than risk messing up my great rate I think I will just try my luck in the QS line at the terminal and hope for the best. :thumbsup2

There is probably a difference dealing directly through the Alamo location, and the general 800 number. I just know that if I book a car for a client, then after the fact they give me their quick silver number.... I can apply it, but it depends what the current rate is.

Guess if you are a quick silver member and it was not applied to your ressie you can always just try going out to the garage & giving it a try? :confused3

I just sent an e-mail to Alamo about this. I am not a big fan of Alamo, but booked with them because of an incredible rate I got that day - only. I immediately applied for *********** to avoid the main desk and just received my *********** number. I am using a coupon, so Alamo's other quick check-in program doesn't work for me. If I can't add the number to my existing low rate reservation, I may just go with National for $23. more. I am an Emerald Aisle/Reserve member and I love walking straight out to the car; $23. isn't that much more. I will let you all know what Alamo says. :teacher:

Edited: Why is quick silver spelled together always *** out? That bugs me. :badpc: :teeth:

Okay, this is the response I got:

"Thank you for your email.

If you could please call us at the below number with your confirmation
number and your *********** number, one of our agents can copy your original
reservation at the same rate and include your *********** membership in it;
we cannot add a *********** membership to an existing reservation,
unfortunately."

Sounds good to me. Hope this helps someone. ;)

This program uses some sort of word scan program. Maybe QS looks like a bad word to the program. :)
Also, you are an Emerald Club member who has use of the Emerald Aisle or Reserve. :)

looks like disneyldwjr has forgotten that "q*u*i*c*k*s*i*l*v*e*r" once was a transportation provider who is no longer welcome ( like some others were ) on this board .....so they blank out references to that word....

laUgh

Yes, I did forget. And, I guess my guess about it being a bad word is why it was blanked out. Who else gets blanked out?

Thanks for everyone's responses!

rlduvall, did their email response have a special phone number or was it the 1-800-GO-ALAMO number? (Please pm me if you would prefer.) DH tried calling the GO-ALAMO number once, but received the "Oh no, that can't be done." response. OH REALLY? Hmmm, ok. It was 10 pm, so he wasn't in the mood to question it at that moment. But I'm going with the theory "If you ask the same question enough times, you're going to get the answer you want." And if they don't give me the answer I want, then I'll ask for the supervisor. "Why? Oh, I wanted to see if he/she has the number for National Car Rental in their rolodex. I hear they have an Emerald Aisle." :teeth:
