We've always used Alamo in the past and have been pleased with the cars but i've gone and found a lower rate at Dollar. The Alamo rate for a minivan was $240 for the week w/a code for a free driver. The Dollar rate was $205 for the week (single driver).

The Alamo sight had a Chevy minivan pictured and the Dollar had a Dodge Caravan.

So, which would you go with ??

To me, it's all about price.

Other considerations: is one rental desk in-terminal and one out-of-terminal? If both rental desks are in-terminal, does one company have their cars in the parking garage that you can walk to versus the other making you ride a shuttle? If both provide shuttles, is the extra driver fee a factor? If not, does one give you frequent flyer mileage versus the other? Are you a member of either company's "club" that drops you off at your vehicle and then skip the line?

If none of these things make a difference, then it's all about price.

I've used Dollar our last two trips to WDW and I was pretty happy with them. They pulled the usual b/s trying to sell me the extra insurance, but I'm pretty sure everyone does that. I would join the express program though...they are SLOW! My last trip in 2004 I was the only one at the counter and it took them over 45 minutes to get me to my car. I don't know what the hold up was, but I didn't need to be anywhere as I was meeting my dad and his wife later that day...

I would say go for the cheaper rate and stick with Dollar...it's an extra $40 for Mickey gifts! :teeth:

Good Luck, HTH!

Thanks for your opinions :)

We have joined Alamos "perferrred club" and I like that we can pre-pay and just pick up the keys and go. My hope is that as the trip comes closer I can get a better rate with alamo. I have a feeling that if I am stuck waiting 45 min or more at Dollar that $40 isn't going to be that important.

I have a terrible case of overthinking everything...I should just go with my first instinct. Thanks for being my sounding board ;)

Glad to be of help! I should have mentioned that I THINK the hold up came due to the car seat I had reserved with my ressie. I don't think they had one immediately available.

Hopefully this will all become a "non-issue" if someone drops their rates! Good luck!
