We're going in October during the week and the only time the Aladdin show is playing is on the Wednesday. No one in our group is very big on musicals or Broadway style shows. Plus we will have a 14 month old with us. Is the Aladdin show really worth the time? Is there a way to request sitting in the back row or on the edge so you can easily escape with a crying/restless toddler?

Thanks for any help.

Well we really like it, but based on what you told me above, unless Aladdin happens to be someone in your groups favorite movie/character, then I really wouldn't bother. We love the shows and musicals, but if you don't, then I don't think you should make it a priority!

Forgot to add though, you pick where you want to sit and it has always been very easy for one of us to leave if we had to as long as we sit near an edge (which we always do!)

IMHO, it's the best show Disney has ever put on (and I've seen all the shows at WDW, DLR, and DLP). However, you may not enjoy it as much as I did based on what you've said in your post.

The show is about 45-50 minutes long. There are 3 sections: main floor, mezzanine, and balcony. I prefer a lower row in the mezzanine. However, if the crowds are light they may not open the mezzanine or balcony.

I agree that it is one of the best that I have seen Disney do. IMO give it a try. We have gone to it at least once on every trip we've made. We have never been disappointed. The humor is fantastic, the music is awesome, and the stage show is outstanding.

I have to agree it is really good show and I think the first time we went my little on was about 14 months if I remember right she made it threw most of it.

It is definitely worth it. We go every trip. The 14 mo will be enthralled with the music, lights and animals. Give it a go and if you guys aren't enjoying it, then you can move on.

This is also one of my favorite shows ever!!! It sounds like it last long, but it goes by so fast. There is always something happening and the backdrops they use are breathtaking! There are a lot of cool special effects. I would recommend it. We have seen it twice and laughed the second time just as much as the first! The Genie is the best!!! Don't miss it!!!

I am so excited to see this show next month!!!

It was closed for recasting when we took our first trip to DL last fall. This show was on our Must Do list because our boys love the Aladdin movie, and I love musicals. We were so sad when we couldn't see it.

It's definitely on the Must Do list this year!

My wife and I never miss Aladin. With little ones, you may try to sit on the lower level. The characters (horses) do a little interaction and you can always signal a castmember to escape early.

Enjoy

I agree with the others.

I would encourage that you try it out, and if you end up not liking it you can leave. However, it is really a good show.

I think I must be one of the only people to not enjoy it very much.

I ADORE Broadway and have seen more musicals than I can remember. I started seeing them when I was 12ish and in middle school and now I'm almost 30 (eep!!!). I just can't get enough. However, when I saw Aladdin, I was disappointed and a bit bored. Maybe it was my mood or the people I was with that day, I'm not sure. Every time I've been back since then, I just haven't bothered with it. I'm going to give it one more shot later this month, though, because there's always so much hype over it, I feel like I missed something.

In my experience, the people I am with really influences my enjoyment of things I do, including meals at restaurants, shows, and movies.

If you do try it again, make sure you're with someone who loves the show. :)

I was with my mom, who loves Broadway as much as I do, but she also didn't like it much. We were also with my brother and his daughter, and we waited for a long time out in the heat, which we don't handle well at all. I'm hoping it was that more than anything else. I'm kind of excited to go back and try it again, but anything Disney gets me excited like a kid on Christmas morning.

My three favorite disneyland shows are
1. Fantasmic
2. Fireworks
3. Alladin show

to me if it is playing while I am there it is a not to be missed show.

Wow, thanks for all your opinions. :thumbsup2

We'll probably give it a shot and sit somewhere where we can leave easily.

IMHO, it's the best show Disney has ever put on (and I've seen all the shows at WDW, DLR, and DLP).
I give the edge to the incredible Tarzan show at DLP as the best, but IMO Aladdin is a close second. I saw Aladdin again in June and it is just really good.

I agree with the others that the OP should try it. While it is a musical, the genies are all very talented and ad lib their way with humor taken from the newspaper that morning. They are terribly funny and it makes the show something that transcends a "mere musical". The 14 month old will of course not catch the humor but the visuals are stimulating.
