I have a 1 bedroom CC ressie at AKV for March. I changed a 1 BR savanna view to Concierge, but now I don't know some of the particulars. Does anyone here know if we will have a washer and dryer in our CC 1bedroom units?

DVC is yet to even design a 1-bedroom without a washer and dryer.

the layouts from the originally architecture designs that Lisa (both of them) found - had the same as the other - a laundry closet.

I don't understand, Pat. Do you mean IN the unit or outside the unit?

Hold the phone...
No washers & dryers in the AKV 1brs??

No need to panic, MG. The web site describes the 1BR at AKV with "Laundry area contains stacked washer and dryer".

And here's a picture that DVC Convert posted of the 1BR in the display:

Pat...not sure what you mean when you say DVC hasn't designed washer/dryers in the 1BRs? :confused3

Thanx, Granny.
Perhaps Pat is referring to Jambo? I think the pic is of the Kidani model. :smokin:

Here is a floor plan showing one of the two 2BR lockoffs that make up Unit 25 in Jambo House at AKV. There is a closet in between the master bedroom and master bathroom. There is a square-shaped object in that closet marked "W/D" that I assume is the washer/dryer.

I have seen a few variations in the floor plans for the Jambo House 2BR lockoffs in the documents that have been published so far so don't expect every villa to look exactly like this plan. For example, some of the master bathrooms have one sink and others have two sinks, in some villas the connecting door between the 1BR and studio is just before the kitchenette and in others it's just after the kitchenette. I think I even saw one where the tub was in a different place than shown here.

Wait a minute! What did they do with the whirlpool tub that overlooks the master bedroom in the other resorts? These tubs look like the regular tubs in any motel room! I really liked the large whirlpool tubs!

The diagram for the tub in the master bath is different from the one in the studio bath so I expect it is still a whirlpool tub. The info on the accommodations page states that 1BR villas at AKV have a whirlpool tub. But it will be different than the other DVC 1BRs. For one thing, it is a combined tub and shower since there is not a separate shower stall in the Jambo House master bathrooms.

Gone.

Even in the new rooms at Kidani, they have eliminated the large square tubs. They appear to be oversized rectangular tubs with jacuzzi jets. And they are in a alcove, so the view is nonexistent.

Check out the pics in Lisa's sig. Again, those photos are from the Kidani Village models, but in this case it appears the Jambo rooms will be almost identical.

Thanks. I think the personal size Jacuzzis in the new rooms like they have in the models will be fine, but I had not seen the Jambo house layouts before. Where did you get that, Lisa? I'm glad there will be a laundry closet in the refurbed models, because that is the ONE thing I can't do without!

I was a little taken aback when I realized that I would be paying more points for no GUARANTEED Savanna view, but I really want to do the surise and sunset safari's so I'll take my chances with the view. Besides, we'll have other trips to get Savanna views, and the savannas are always viewable from other parts of the resort.

The document Disney files with Orange County each time they declare a new unit includes a floor plan for that unit. So I copied and pasted half of the floor plan for Unit 25 from one of those documents.

It makes you wonder what they were thinking when they designed AKL, that they didn't provide better views from the 6th floor concierge rooms.

Besides, we'll have other trips to get Savanna views, and the savannas are always viewable from other parts of the resort.
I looked at it the same way. If it was my first stay at AKL, I would want the best savanna view I could get. But since I've been there a few times, I will trade the view for the safaris. Since the Sunset Safari takes you right into all of the savannas at AKL, I figure for 90 minutes I'll have the best view in the house!

I think that people are forgetting that at AKL/AKV, there are cameras pointed at the animals 24 hours each day. There are warnings in your room about not walking around naked because the cameras (as well as people on Arusha rock) can see in the rooms easily. You'd have to close the heavy drapes to use a tub that had a "view" unless you wanted others to have a view of you!

You can see the cameras on the top of the Lodge but you can't view what they are filming.

LOL, that was my thought too! It's a great time to try and do them too, because it will be just DH and me on that trip.
