Does anyone actually prefer the pool view over the savanah view?
We love the pool/courtyardview at the Wilderness Lodge and was wondering if we would be happy with this view at AKL (still can't decide where we are staying) or should we go with the savanah view. Thanks
Lisa

I think it's a matter of personal preference. I personally would save the $ and go for the pool view. After awhile, at least for me, the animal view would get to be boring. :)

We will be going July 1-9 and we have the savannah view. For the dd9 and dd4 we had to go the animal route. Perhaps next time we can save the $ and do the pool view....but for now ...we have the savannah...

Oh I hope it doesnt smell!

:umbrella:

We prefer the pool view for two reasons. First, I agree with the previous poster that the view of the animals gets a little old after awhile. Plus, there are several very nice viewing areas where those without Savannah views can pull up a chair and watch the animals whenever they want. Second, and for us most important, the pool view guarantees that your room will be close to the lobby, restaurants and bus stops. Some of the Savannah views can be a very LONG walk from the main part of the building.

For shorter stays, I would definitely go for the Savannah view. This view is what makes this resort so unique and special. You can get a pool view anywhere. But for longer stays, the arguments made by the other posters make a lot of sense.

Personally, I like to resort hopper. I would prefer staying at one of the other more convenient resorts for the bulk of my stay, and then perhaps add a night or two at the AKL with a Savannah view for its unique appeal. That approach obviously isn't for everyone.

I prefer the pool over the Savannah view. I enjoy having coffee in the morning on the balcony and looking out over the water. I loved the animal view as well, when we stayed in Savannah; I prefer the pool view but that's just me.

We have stayed in pool view rooms twice and savanna view rooms three times and have enjoyed each stay very much. If your budget can afford a savanna view room then go for it but if you are going to skimp on other parts of your vacation in order to stay in a savanna view room then I would say go pool view and enjoy.

If you can do savanna in your budget then I say go for it. We LOVED sitting on our balcony enjoying the animals, even in the rain. It was a wonderful experience. We were very disappointed with our pool view room which had a view of mostly the restaurant roofs and a tree. We never used it and spent our down time walking around the hotel and sitting in public balconies. So we did not get our money's worth for the extra pool view cost and should have just gotten a standard view for as much as we used the balcony.

Savannah view! Where else can you see wild animals from your balcony (except maybe New Orleans at Mardi Gras). You can have a pool view anywhere. It's so cool to sit out on the balcony and watch a giraffe eating or a tommy laying in the grass or an ostrich walking around. We had the weirdest looking blue throated bird that walked right under the balcony and stood below looking up at us. I loved it!

Pool view for me! I had a pool view twice, and loved it. I never had a savannah room, but I walked around AKL many times and seen the animals in various places. I prefer pool since I like being "near the action". I like seeing other people, and like to see generally what's going on from the balcony. I also travel solo alot and hate being in the "boonies", and pool view is near the lobby and restaurants, like another poster said. I also loved the WL courtyard view, and AKL pool view is similiar, though WL has much more going for it!

On my recent trip, though, we had a pool room but a large portion of the roofs of the restaurants blocked alot of the view. But even so, we enjoyed it and could still see most of the pool. :)

IMHO, the Savannah view is the only way to go. If not for the view of the animals from our balcony, I'd stay at the Dolphin (my favorite).
